I had the misfortune of using a disreputable contractor who seriously, and improperly, installed my bathtub back in October of 2018. At first, the contractor was just about refusing to repair the work. Then, after threatening him with legal action; he finally came around to filing the necessary paperwork with my Long Beach, NY, Building Department. Prior to the sleazeball coming around, I solicited the services of Bath Fitter representative, Joe Goldstein, in Copiague, NY, to install my new bathtub. After waiting for several weeks for the sleazeball to come around, I finally decided to go with Bath Fitters. Joe Goldstein, and his administrative assistant, Sabrina Harvey, were more than accommodating; they exhibited the patience and understanding of saints. My co-op Board was on the brink of dragging me into court.; if I didn't show some progress in having a new bathtub installed. You see, the current poorly installed tub had caused severe damage to my downstairs neighbor's ceiling due to it lacking proper structural support during its installation. Consequently, I made incessant calls to both Joe and Sabrina in order to garner the required paperwork to get my co-op Board off my friggin back! Not once did they exhibit the slightest annoyance or impatience with my multiple panic-ridden calls. Additionally, aside from furnishing me with the necessary paperwork to assuage my Board, they also gave me an appointment date that was well within the time limit established by my highly confrontational Board. Yet, after all, they did for me; I had to, for legal reasons, allow my sleazeball contractor the opportunity to rectify his lousy work. Still, Mr. Goldstein and Ms. Harvey showed no resentment, bitterness, or animosity, for the fact that all their efforts were for naught. Consequently, when the renovation of my New York City apartment commences, I will ask that contractor to solicit their services for the bathroom work to be done. It is with extreme gratitude I praise the exceptional character exhibited by Joe Goldstein and Sabrina Harvey. Unresponsive service department and poor product quality. I have made numerus calls and left messages during the last month with no response. I purchased a bathroom vanity and sink paint is cracking by the drain. I was hoping to talk to the service department to see if it is under warranty. i have had other sinks 20 years and the paint never cracked. read more

My wife and I are going to remodel 2 full bathrooms, and had friends recommend Consumers. We walked into the showroom and were not greeted by anyone. The place was absolutely empty. We walked around for a minute or two before we finally saw a gentleman sitting at a desk. I said hello, and without getting up, he asked if we needed help. We said we did, what we were there for, and he pointed to the back of the store basically for us to help ourselves. Long story short, not a good way to start, and after walking around for 20 minutes by ourselves, I asked this same gentlemen who was still sitting at his desk if I should make an appointment for someone to help us. He said that would be recommended. I guess business is booming over there because this guy couldn't have been bothered. He was snippy, appeared annoyed and put out that he should have to help someone. We told him we were going to take our business elsewhere, asked his name (Patrick), and said we were leaving. Like most people, my wife and I are very picky when it comes to our home. We stopped at the Copiague Consumers Kitchen and Baths just to compare it to ALL the other places we had visited. We had the pleasure of meeting with a salesperson named Gretel. We went over our plans and ideas just to compare. Within minutes my wife and I knew she was the one we wanted to have by our side during this crazy project. Gretel designed our entire kitchen and mudroom. After several revisions we ended up with absolutely everything we wanted and more! Gretel is a very classy lady with a wonderful personality. Always there when we called, and always called us with great suggestions that saved us from potential design problems. We came a way with an amazing kitchen & mudroom. We are SO happy with the entire experience. Also, I can honestly say there was not one piece missing and not a single scratch on anything... Thanks for everything Gretel, you are awesome! I wish I had read the reviews before going to the Copiague location. We ordered a bathroom cabinet and sink for over $700. I told the salesman I wanted a drawer at the bottom so I might retrieve things without having to bend down and reach into it. When my contractor opened the box, we found that due to the design (which, as hard as it is to believe, the salesman said is how it is always done) the drawer is useless as nothing will fit into it. The base of the main compartment had to be cut to accommodate the drain trap. This is something else never mentioned. Exchange was not an option as the contractor would have charged me for a future visit and the old cabinet could not be put back in again. We just opted to just live with this fiasco. On the plus side, the exterior of the cabinet is very nice. No apology for or admission of messing up my order was forthcoming. Where do I start? Went to this place when doing my kitchen renovation. Joe the sales representative was fantastic when I ordered my cabinets. Then came time to order the countertop. I selected what I was told was the most expensive countertop in the store "Bianco Romano". A beautiful counter top with shades of gray, black and hints of red. So then the day comes where I go to the yard to pick the slab. I am shown a slab what the guy tells me is Bianco Romano. Now I have never been color blind or had any issue with my sight, so when I am shown a slab that is black and white with no other colors. I told the guy this is a different stone and there was red and grey in the other stone. Then I am told that the stone varies in color. I realized I was being clowned. But the real clowning came when I am told by the guy that he does have another slab similar to what I was talking about. He takes me to another part of the warehouse and shows me a slab. I looked at the stone and told the guy this is the same stone I picked out at the store. He tells me no, that this is "Bianco Gabriel." He then says there may be a price differ and Consumer's would call me with that. Now I am thinking that this stone must be the same price or less if there is a difference as it was the same stone and I was already told that I already had picked out the most expensive one in the store. To my surprise, I receive a call from a rep telling me that this stone that is the same one I already picked out was now $350 more expensive. I found this quite odd as I was given about $350 in discounts. Why give the discount then give the bend over and take back the discount. After spending over $14000 on my kitchen at this place and the screw me for $350 extra, all I can say is "let the buyer beware" when it comes to shopping for a kitchen or bathroom here. Needless to say, the bathroom is next on my list but I will be taking my business elsewhere... So following this post rather than Consumer's Kitchen and Bath's making good by apologizing for the poor business dealings, they respond by insulting my intelligence and telling me that stone varies. Obliviously stone does vary, but when I am shown a completely different stone from what is sampled at the store and then I am taken to the same exact stone and told it is more expensive then I know that I am being played. Stay as far away from this place as you can as they will insult your intelligence and rip you off!!! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Sorry this will be a long review...This was our first kitchen reno and we didn't know what to expect. But after talking with other people who recently redid their kitchens, I realized I truly got the short end of the stick by using this place for cabinetry. Many of them got better quality and better service for a cheaper price. When my boyfriend and I first came in, we walked around for at least 15 minutes before someone finally asked if we needed help. The entire process was extremely frustrating and I kept giving our sales rep the benefit of the doubt but I finally realized, he's supposed to be the expert not me. He didn't ask us any questions when we were designing the kitchen and just sort of picked and choosed major design details and sizing on his own. So then every time we'd come home and look at the plan, we'd realize another thing that is wrong or doesn't make sense from a design perspective (we noticed one cabinet was 9 inches, not sure what that would be useful for...then noticed sizing on both sides of our hood and range were totally different by 3 or 4 inches, again had to go back and get that fixed since these were decorative glass door cabinets and the focal point...and other strange details we had to go back and fix). Then we waited many weeks for our sample doors to come in to choose colors...during which we get a phone call to come in and finalize the sale. When I said I'm not finalizing anything since we don't even have samples yet, he acted shocked that we didn't get them yet. Waited another week or two and I called to follow up, only to find out yes they have them but we have to come to store to pick them up. Ok fine, again I gave them benefit of the doubt. Finally the worst of all, was when we did receive the cabinets (months later). Many were warped and crooked, and panels weren't sized properly. My carpenter was extremely frustrated because he had to do extra work to make things fit and said he's never seen something like this before. These were not cheap cabinets either. The frame for the fridge was also too small, another detail my sales rep picked on his own and I must've missed with my fine tooth comb when reviewing plans. It's the same width as the rest of the cabinets...no fridge is that skinny so now we're stuck with a fridge that sticks out halfway past the cabinet frame. Not to mention there was missing crown molding for our pantry cabinet and no toe kick for the peninsula. I called the sales rep numerous times and left messages, he called me back once and said he'd get back to me. Still nothing for another week, so I call again only to find out he went on vacation for two weeks. So I was told I had to wait till he returns to figure it out. Oh ok, we'll just continue waiting and paying our carpenter for his extra time and work. So we called the manager who was extremely nice and helpful and I wish we had him originally to do our plan, however in the end we had to PAY EXTRA to get the missing items delivered since apparently the sales rep didn't have them in our design plan. Why would we want crown molding for all our upper cabinets and not the end piece that is our pantry? It didn't make any sense and looked incomplete. We ended up opting out of ordering a new size fridge cabinet frame because they also wanted extra money and it would've been an additional few weeks for delivery. Overall we waited about 6 months to have everything. We just received the missing items that we paid extra for a couple weeks ago, and mind you we started the design process in September/October. Please go somewhere else for your kitchen reno. If you do end up going here...there is a nice lady with short hair (her name alludes me, I'm sorry) who was the only rep I saw who walked around showing clients things on the floor, explaining how things would look, asking many questions when coming up with the kitchen. She also was the one who explained the whole process in greater detail to my Boyfriend and I when we returned early on to find out, because we realized nothing was explained to us and our sales rep was not in that's day. She's the one you want. Otherwise stay clear. read more

So, after going back and forth several times, Jim the manager finally told me that he will give me credit for the medicine cabinet, which is like giving ice away in the winter. There is absolutely nothing I would want or need from them! What I wanted is my money back. Please beware, if you sign anything from them, make hire an attorney to read the small print. This company is just one big rip off. And Jim made it sound like he was the good guy with his response that he posted for everyone to see. read more

It reached the point where I had to remodel my kitchen. It isn't a large kitchen, but that doesn't make it easier. I had chosen a contractor and needed to decide on a floorplan. The contractor recommended someone who would do it for $100. I stopped into Consumers on the advice of my friend who turned to them when her home was demolished by Superstorm Sandy. She recommended speaking to Joe Thompson. Well, it was the best decision. Joe is the most patient man. Not pushy and I must repeat...patient. I can know what I want, but it can take me awhile to make a commitment. Joe never rushed me. From the start, he said when I was ready, that they'd send someone out to measure and he could work on a floorplan....all at no charge and with no committment. Well, he worked with me and and that in and of itself is a miracle. I'm a Realtor and always considered myself a salesmans nightmare, but Joe is not a salesman; he is a Godsend. Kitchen Designer and sounding board with a bit of psychologist rolled into one. Fast forward to the kitchen cabinet delivery. Joe was there to answer any questions. One minor issue and he was quick to have the Service Department out to my house. The contractor destroyed some of the wood and Joe was understanding and assured me that it could be replaced. He's perfect at what he does and the pricing is definitely within reason (and I'm as frugal as they come). As I stated, I'm a Realtor and I plan on recommending Joe Thompson at Consumers whenever a client has a need for a bathroom or kitchen to be done. I plan on redoing my bathroom soon and he'll be my first stop. I only wish choosing a new contractor could be so easy. Thank you Joe! read more

Usually don't listen to bad reviews, I should have with this company. Was told a blind corner cabinet pull out was my solution to my storage problems. I come to find out that there is 14" dead space gap that I was not informed about. I have asked on several occasions for my money back on this unless item that we have already taken out of the cabinet. Have been told absolutely not. Have been waiting since August 8th for 2 door fronts and a draw front that came in damaged. To top it off was told that our countertops would be installed between 12-4. My husband lost a half days pay for them to finally show up at 620. No one wants to reimburse for our time lost. We work because we need to pay bills. Not for the fun of it. The countertop was in 2 pieces, that I understand but they put it together with silicone instead of epoxy that separated in 2 weeks. Waiting another 2 weeks for them to come and repair with another 12-4 window that they ignored and once again showed up plate at 530. There is plenty more but I think you get the idea. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CONSUMER KITCHENS AND BATHS IN COPIAGUE IF NOT ALL OF THEM. read more
