Like others, I have the DirecTV Premium Repair Service and when my 58" Plasma TV started showing pink and blue moving blobs every time a white background surfaced, I figured it is time to make a claim (after paying $25/mo for about 8 years). DirecTV (AT&T) gave me the runaround and after about 2 hours of calls and transfers, they finally said they'd send a service company out. I had an Appointment Email immediately stating Consumer Electronic would be there tomorrow, which came and went. I called CE and they said they didn't know about that, but they'd send someone out a different day. The Tech showed up promptly and was a nice guy. However, he didn't listen to me AT ALL about the pink and blue blobs and squares on the screen when there was a white background. He insisted on playing a YouTube Test which was nifty, but it didn't show my problem until about 2 minutes into it on the last colored screen (white) and it went so fast he kept missing the big problem. We couldn't rewind the Test Pattern and had to start at the beginning and stare at the TV until the White Patter showed again, but it didn't allow enough time to capture the issue with his phone camera. I kept asking "are you sure you got it??" and he said yes, but I'm sure he didn't get it. He DID, however, see a "YouTube" bleed through image when the screen went to green (or some color), but I have never, ever, ever seen bleed through on the TV, I believe it is an issue (or scam) with the Test Program. We just started using YouTube about a week ago, and never ever have I left that YouTube logo on the screen. I've never experienced any type of bleed through issue on this TV. Heck, it goes to Screen Saver if you pause an image for more than 2 minutes! So what does he do? Completely ignores the issue of pink and blue blobs/squares/horizontal/vertical images on the TV screen and reports the YouTube image "bleed through" back to DirecTV. I wasn't listened to at all, which really burns me up. I found out from my Claim that he filed the issue as Bleed Through, so I called him today and asked why he ignored the issues I reported to him, and he said he isn't allowed to give any feedback to DirecTV except for the YouTube color swatches. No technical opinion, no expertise, no viewing the actual TV images, no using his years of experience in Plasma Screens. Heck, I could have done that, why hire a professional if he isn't using his background and knowledge to troubleshoot and identify an issue? He tells me it is protocol and the pictures he sent to DirecTV from the YouTube is all he could submit, no other comments or suggestions, just a picture of that quick YouTube Test Pattern that went so fast the pink and blue colors hardly had a chance to manifest. The issues I reported were completely ignored and the diagnoses he sent back to the Warranty Holder was completely misdiagnosed as "bleed through." Unfortunately, the "Consumer" does not matter to this company, as long as they aimlessly and blindly follow the maze to get their payment at the end, they feel they've done their job, and the Consumer is screwed. Terrible. UPDATE: Yesterday, DirecTV called me about the DENIAL of my Claim due to "they don't cover Image Burn." I explained it is NOT Image Burn, but he said he has pictures from the Tech that proves it (which is a SCAM in the YouTube Test). This company has screwed me out of the coverage I've been paying for for many years for just this situation when my Plasma screen started going out. What kills me is, my claim should have been honored and justified, but the ignorance of CE and the technician lost my coverage for me. read more

Stay Away/Don't Even Try! I had an appointment with them set up by LG today and was told they would I arrive between 8-5 and would call an hour out. So I've been waiting all day and nothing. When I call their office it goes to voicemail and their website says they close at 230pm. I've wasted an entire day, a holiday I might add and they didn't even bother to call and tell me they weren't coming. My wife called for TV service and set up an appointment for the next day. She was told they took credit card info to hold the spot for her. He also said the $85.00 would be applied to the cost of the service. The appointment was for 2-3:00 the next afternoon. The morning of the repair, my son suggested she unplug and reset the cable box. (I was out of town) The reset fixed the problem. She tried to call and cancel the appointment, but no one answered. She was later told that there was a power failure and the phones were not working. Therefore, she did not get through until a couple hours before the scheduled appointment. The owner, Justin told her she still would incur the $85.00 because they could not schedule anyone else for the time slot. I called him today and discussed the matter. He told me that was their policy. I asked him if he was able to fill the time slot and if he was making double for the hour he reserved for my wife. He would not answer, and said it didn't matter. He droned on about traveling 30 miles and finding no one home, therefore his policy. We live 10 minutes from his shop and my wife tried to cancel but for the power outage. She did contact him 2 hours before the appointment. I get it that you need to protect the hours you reserve to cover expenses. In this case, Justin clearly told me he didn't lose a dime. He bragged about how tightly booked they were and how busy the day was. I recorded the call, for what it matters, so if he responds to this that he in fact had a tech sitting around for the open hour, he is bending the truth. Outstanding and quick service with replacing my OLED 65B7A-U TV screen because of image retention or burn in problem. This action took less than 30 minutes and the new screen is operational with ALL of the original settings. Fast and accurate and I recommend these folks. read more

My Warrenty company selected this company to fix a Samsung QLED fairly new tv which had dark spot in one corner. They took my tv and made it worse with whatever repair they tried. Now I have dark spots around the boarder of the whole tv. The tech had the audacity to tell me there would be imperfection. The whole reason I call to get it fixed was to correct the imperfections. I could tell something was wrong when he left abruptly and told me to go through my Warrenty if you see other issues, which he created!!!! Jaw Dropping is what it is! Yep, last time I used these folks, were over fifteen years ago. And at a different location. Of course, times change, as do locations, but man oh man the service was wonderful then, but man oh man is it rocking now! Bought a 4K TV almost, a year, ago. Almost a year ago is key. The top of the screen started to go black with nothing showing. I reached out to the manufacture as I had registered it when I bought it and it had a year parts and labor. They gave me a list of three companies I could take it to for further evaluation. CES was one of them, and since I had a great experience before, was going back to use them again. But the service was wow even better, how do you say. Well simple, it was fast. In the first 15 minutes he diagnosed the problem, linked up on line with the manufacture and determined the tv was less than a year from being manufactured also. Now this was on Monday before Superbowl Sunday. I didn't expect to see this TV for several weeks or more. Oh NO. They had it back on Thursday and called me and I picked it up on Friday. Quick service at a good price. I've not had time to set my TV up, but they demonstrated it worked before I left the shop so I don't expect I'll have any problem with it. The customer area was a bit disorganized, but they apologized for that and said they had been reorganizing the service area. Some of the online reviews from 2011 made me a bit concerned about using them but I had no problem with them so I'm glad I gave them a chance. Scams. Had to have almost $100 deposit BEFOREHAND to diagnose- then wanted to know symptoms along w make & model to make sure "sent with the right parts ". Showed up with NO parts and called the office to repeat observation of what I told them over the phone. Says 2-3 days to get the past arts. Had to call them after a week and told TV not supported by mfgr and no parts avail except on secondary mkt and they will search for a source! Bottom line, repatedly called them over 2 mos and guy didnt have right tools to take tv off the wall. When I go out and buy the partts, turns out part they orderEd didn't fix it! 2 mos. fooling with them when I should've just paid for a new TV. More than patient but really pissed now. Be very wary of these guys. I told the Rep I had a plasma with limes on the screen - didn't give details of the make and model. He sent a "seasoned" guy out who was late and when he walked in he took a few pics of the screen and said they can't repair plasmas at all. He called the rep who said they can't get the panel BUT HE NEVER GAVE HIM THE MAKE AND MODEL". It was such a scam service. Was essentially in my house for 3 minutes and they took $100. The rep over promised clearly to make me take the bait. The seasoned" guy then called the rep to prep him on my plans to call & complain Bc he picked up them immediately put me on hold for like 3 minutes. It was a sham, a scam and a theft. This is my single experience of Consumer Electronic Service in Cary: I asked them perform a modification to amplifier. Straightforward work, some interpretation of a diagram and some soldering. I was charged $100+ upfront and told 3-5 business days. On the 5th day, I telephoned asking for update. Work was not done and they couldn't tell me when it would be done. About the 12 day, I email asking for an update. Hurray, my amp is ready and I collect that day. While waiting at their office front desk, I notice a elderly couple being charged $130+ for a fix to old CD player. The kind that sells on ebay or thriftstores for 30 bucks. Alarms bells ring. I get home, test the kit and it doesn't work. Comparing to photographs taken beforehand, inspecting internally makes it obvious that no work has been done at all. My emails asking for explanations go unanswered. Had to get refund from credit card company. read more

This place may be ok for repairs that are straight forward and uncomplicated but if they have to think a little bit out of the box, they are lost. They are also disorganized and don't listen well. Our stereo system was crackling and it appeared there was a specific thing wrong with our amplifier and we told them exactly what it was. They couldn't find anything wrong with it and suggested we bring up the whole system, which we did -- 70 miles each way! They looked at our system and decided they didn't need to test anything but said it was probably one thing and sent us back with the rest. Called us later and said they couldn't find the problem. Went up the third time and they told us we had probably wired it incorrectly (we had NOT.) We brought everything back without them fixing anything. Finally, after a lot of testing and trouble, WE figured out it was our CD player -- with NO help from them. We had brought the CD player on the last trip for them to look at it but they couldn't be bothered. We called later and asked if they could look at our CD player and maybe use some of the $55 we had paid as they hadn't been able to find the problem. We left three messages and no call back. $55 and THREE 140 mile trips for our stereo system and they couldn't find the problem and refused to look any further. This is not what I call good business practice. read more

I was referred to this company for an in-home evaluation for a warranty claim on my Samsung TV. The technician had trouble finding my house. He looked only at the street address, so he drove to Garner instead of Apex, where I live. Wow. Once he got there, he looked at the TV and told me he agreed it was defective and would recommend to Samsung that it be repaired. This turned out to be a blatant lie. After waiting more than one month for any follow up, I checked in on my warranty claim and was informed by Samsung that the CES tech determined that my TV was normal and recommended that Samsung deny my claim. I placed a claim with DirecTV Premier Protection on June 3. Right away was able to schedule an appointment for the next day online. That seemed dubious. Of course the next day came and went, and no one from this company called or contacted me. By the end of the middle of the week I contacted DirectTV. They tried for over a week and a half to get someone from this company to contact them (let alone me). I finally asked DirectTV to please pick another company, but there policy was basically to keep calling and emailing this company. Finally, I canceled the claim, and the DirectTV premier protection plan. At 20.09 a month, and a service fee of 50, I can more easily and cheaply just replace TVs when they die. Can't speak to what this company is like to actually work with or repair TVs because they seemed wholly disinterested in the service call as scheduled with DirectTV. So probably not a very reliable outfit. read more

The worst customer service experience ever. I had to contact them several times to request an ETA. Each time the gentleman who answered the phone stated, "Do we have you in the system?" YES!!!! You should have me in the system since this is the 3rd time we spoke about the same issue. Needless-to-say, the service was officially scheduled a week after we originally spoke (they promised a 24-48 hour turn around) and the technician no showed. No phone call, nothing. This company was referred to me by LG as an authorized repair center for their TV's. When I go them on the phone, they said they wouldn't come without an electronic request from LG. LG said all I had to do was show them a receipt because the TV was under warranty. Then put me on hold on speaker phone while I listened to handle him several calls before they turned the speaker phone off. I would still be on hold now if I hadn't of hung up. read more

Consumer Electronics Service is a company to avoid. They repaired my Samsung TV, but in the process broke the back cover. I called them to see what they were going to do about the breakage and got "we will take care of it." I called the about every two weeks with the same repose "we will take care of it" with an added "we have not forgotten you", until about 6 weeks after the repair, they wanted a picture of the part that was broken. Called them a few days, after I emailed it, to verify they received the picture and to get a few questions answered, they verified the picture was received but did not answer my questions. I called about a week after that to be told they were waiting on Samsung to give them an answer and I may be able to speed up the process if I called Samsung. A new process began of having different representatives of Samsung to communicate with Consumer Electronics by phone and email without success. Now, over 3 1/2 months later, I have not been contacted by them one time through the process and I am convinced they never intended to stand behind their work. read more

Samsung sent us to them for problems with a brand new TV. CES told us on the phone that Samsung had changed the repair assignment to someone else, so I spoke to Samsung again and they said that was incorrect, the shop was where the TV needed to be taken. I called them back and they said go ahead and bring it in. I had told them (CES) on the phone what the problem was, but when we got there the guy plugged it in and saw the problem, then told me it was not covered under the warranty. Would have been nice if they had mentioned that probability when I described the problem, and prior to me driving 30 minutes to the shop. The second problem was that the guy in front had zero people skills (I'm guessing autism spectrum with at mean streak). No 'sorry', even an insincere one, and very literal-minded (well you aren't out the cost of the TV if you pay the cost of the TV to get the screen fixed....you don't have to throw it away, that is your choice). Maybe the guy is good at repair, but they seriously need someone with minimal people skills at the front. read more
