Philly Roast Pork

The dark wood tables, chairs, flooring/walls combined with glistening stars hanging from the ceiling made for such a cool, calm, peaceful wonder feel. The warm lighting made the room feel welcoming and inviting. The Bavarian Pretzel was very stale. I was excited about the dipping cheese and cinnamon butter but was disappointed the pretzel was rock hard, opposite of what I was anticipating. The Chicken tenders came out looking burnt and cooked in old oil. We expressed our concern to the waitstaff, and they were kind enough to bring us another batch. On the contrary, the flatbread and sous-vide wings and Pork shanks were cooked perfectly. Robust in flavor, tender in texture and quite filling. I would definitely return just for the pork shanks!

My bday was great at Consume. Great bar staff , delicious lamb skewers and super vibe for a Friday night.

Not to be confused with the dispensary named Consume, this place has great food! I came here for the first time with my husband, my sister, and her husband a couple of weeks ago, and we really enjoyed our experience. When walking in, you can tell it has a very modern and industrial aesthetic. The lights are dim, everything is woody, and there are many tables with one long bar. Food wise, everything was amazing. We started with the Sous Vide Buffalo Wings ($12 for 6 wings), and they were delicious and soft. I'm not sure how they can call them buffalo wings because they didn't even have a little spice to them, but the texture and flavor were perfect. For my lunch, I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich ($17) with truffle fries. The chicken sandwich was amazing and had a HUGE breaded chicken breast on the bun. The truffle fries were okay, but a little on the drier side. They were SO much better once I asked for the garlic aioli on the side. However, I'm not a huge fan of fries in general. It would be nice to have more side options such as sweet potato fries or tots! My family loved their meals, too! My husband ordered a Traditional Burger ($17), and the beef comes from grass-fed cows if you care about that! Definitely higher quality than most places. My sister ordered the half order of the Limon Steak Salad ($$12). This was pretty big, so we couldn't imagine how full-sized one is! Lastly, my brother-in-law ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($17), which he thoroughly enjoyed, as well because the chicken breast again was so juicy and fresh. Consume has a large alcohol selection, as well. They have tv screens hanging on the back wall that lists the names, description, sizes, and prices of the craft beer selections they offer, and they also have a large selection of cocktails and bottled/canned options. I ended up ordering the Tripping Animals 3 Years of Tripping sour ($12 for 12 oz), which was amazing. It has many fruity tastes like peach, pineapple, mango, passionfruit, and more. Service-wise, or waiter was attentive and friendly. He constantly checked in with us and got everything we needed. Overall, I will 100% be back here! It was definitely worth the trip, and I can't wait to try other menu items!

Quiet on Sunday at noon Very attentive server, pretty fast from order to food on table. Strong selection of beers (caution: many 13%+ abv imperial stouts. They offer a coca-cola marinated bbq pork, could not bring ourselves to try it. Salmon with turnip mash and roasted root veggies and grilled cherry tomatoes was good. Vegan burger was so-so, south west chicken wrap was pretty bland. Fries were more soggy than crispy, garlic aoli was nothing special. Catchup seemed a bit spicy, which I like. At least outdoors food is served in to go containers. Don't see a compelling reason to return but would not say no if friends wanted to gather here or if you want to explore wide beer selection.

First time visit this place, and glad to find it. It has a feel of a neighborhood pub with good foods! It brought us here because it has gluten free options, even with beer! Upon enter, we were greeted by friendly staff telling us that we can pick any where. Quickly, someone brought water to our table, and shortly after a staff came by to see if we have any questions. If you love beers, there's a generous selection. There menu is on their website, so you might want to check out the menu prior to go there. The food selection isn't a typical pub foods. In addition to the conventional items like burgers and fries, it also has something novel like Risotto and Quinoa Cake. We opted for ordering Queso Fundido (special menu) as appetizer, smash burger and Bavarian pork sandwich as our dinner. The foods were flavorful, and the fries were not at all greasy! The only critique I have is the queso fundido got cold quickly so the cheese harden quickly. I noticed that they have trivia night on Wednesdays. I might get some friends to come over in the future.

Visited Consume last night for dinner and walked in during Trivia night! They have Trivia nights on Wednesday nights! We decided to eat outside, they have a rented area that's was decorated with greenery so it felt more like an outdoor garden than an actual tent. One thing to note is that the food comes in to go boxes and we're given paper plates and plastic cups, and utensils to use. We started off by sharing the Sous Vide Buffalo Wings that came with a side of ranch. These Buffalo wings were DELICIOUS. They were the perfect combination of spicy, crunch and juiciness! My husband being a critical foodie that he is, said these might be the best wings he's had in a LONG time! For my entree, I got the Fried Chicken Sandwich that came with a side of truffle fries, and a side of Brussel sprouts for the table. Chicken sandwiches have been trending for a while now and every place has their own take on them. But I have to say this might me my FAVORITE one to date! The crispy chicken, the sauce, the pickled onions & can't forget the cheese curds and bacon for the extra crunch was the perfect concoction! Each bite was better than the last! The fries were great too, they did get a bit soggy in the boxes but the flavor was great! :) The Brussel sprouts for roasted amazingly and were covered in a sweet chili sauce. Although delicious as is, I could have done with a little less sauce and have the sprout flavors pull through! Now to talk about their drink menu, They have an EXTENSIVE menu to pick from! From beers to cocktails - you can't go wrong with any of them! I went with the recommendation of our waiter and finished it before I was even able to take a picture because it was just that great! Haha. All in all, I know I'll be back soon to try some of the other menu items soon! Can't wait!

The wedge salad was very good with their homemade dressing and same with the short rib pasta which was more than ample for two people. They only serve gelato, but the salted caramel gelato was hands down the best I've ever had! Cary made a fantastic French martini too! What also impressed me was the locals that were very friendly and made the evening even more enjoyable. That said, one of our friends is a foodie like me and loved the menu with plenty of seafood options and he found it challenging to select something as it all looked so good. We started with appetizers of Fire Shrimp, Octopus and Jumbo Crab Cake. We all shared and was absolutely amazing! My wife ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Pasta which she had the week before. Last time it came with a little heat, but this time was a little bland for her but was still very flavorful (so somewhat confusing). FYI the lobster comes in two halved pieces w/ shell (a miniature lobster, not meal sized one) For me, the apps were not enough. I ordered Rice Élan Style w/ 4 Sea Scallops (Arborio rice, butter, sun-dried tomato, spinach, citrus blend, parmigiano reggiano). This was really good and the scallops were so flavorful. I also ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese. Yes, I was hungry. It was a generous portion and includes chunks of lobster, not like other places where we are searching for where the lobster is hiding. Service was amazing as usual. I expect nothing less. Since it was my foodie friend's first time, they gave him a gift card for a free bruschetta app next time he comes in. It is dimly lit. It not dark as every table has small touch lights. So, apologies for the pics as they may be a little dark. Certainly looking forward to next time!

I'm a big fan of this concept with comfortable seating in a spacious restaurant, plenty of parking,…read moregreat presentation, friendly service, and attractive decor. Compared to similar restaurants in this space, I prefer to go here with friends for its generally quieter atmosphere and overall vibe. Maybe the biggest complaint here is that the food preparation can be a bit inconsistent between dishes, and between different meat types. That is, that the output can range from delicious to somewhat average (and sometimes overcooked), depending on what you order. For example the birria was super flavorful and served with very crisp tacos and a delicious consomme, but the cilantro-lime rice and refried beans felt like an afterthought. The smoked pork belly quesadillas had a great flavor and just about the right amount of fattiness that was short of perfection due to the pork being overcooked. The tres leches cake also had a great creaminess and flavor to it, but parts of the cake weren't really soaked in the milk at all, which created an inconsistent experience - depending on where I took the bite. On everything I tried though, the presentation was excellent and there were enough great things about each dish to overcome some of the shortfalls. Overall though, I feel with improved execution on ensuring that all elements of the dishes are equally good in terms of texture and flavor -- there's a lot to love about Ancho & Agave. But even in its current state, it's still an enjoyable spot to take a group of friends for tasty food in an impressive looking spot.

I don't know what it is, but there is something distinct about them that separates them from other restaurants. Service was excellent where quality checks, keeping beverages filled, and reading when it was time to wrap it up came naturally. It is a very open style bistro which I love. I can see the vibe of this place during a dinner rush being a lot of fun (seems like this place can accommodate groups of all sizes). Ancho & Agave seems more Mexican-fusion than traditional-Mexican so for what it is, I'd say overall it's very good and would definitely return.

As this was just down the street from our office in the Kemper Business District, she thought this would be a cool place to hang out to recap the year for our department and she was right. The place itself is a cute house with what looks like a cool outdoor space, when the weather is nicer. Inside is a small bar when you first walk through the front door. We we seated in a small room off from the main bar, next to a lovely fireplace. We started out with charcuterie boards. Prices range from 4 pieces for $30, 6 pieces for $46 and 8 pieces for $58. The selection of meats and cheeses and were very nice, but the prices seemed steep. The cheeses and meats were as follows: Wooley Rind (Green Dirt Farm) - soft ripened sheep's milk MontAmore (Sartori) - semi firm Italian style Cheddar Goat Gouda (Central Coast Creamery) - crumbly aged goat cheese "Creamy Sexy Blue" - German triple cream cow's milk with blue veining Jamon Serrano, aged 24 months Stagberry - Elk Salami with dried blueberries Finocchiona - Tuscan style salami with fennel seed Pig & Fig Terrine - Country style pork pate with dried figs, cinnamon, ginger All were very good and had a lovely flavor. Due to the number of people nibbling, I asked for extra bread and was treated with toasted sourdough, which was very nice. For dinner, I got the Chicken Tinga Panini (Tomato-Chipotle Chicken, Queso Oaxaca, Arugula, served with Salsa Verde & Guacamole). This was a very good sandwich. I loved the idea of Chicken Tinga in a sandwich format, and it worked. I had saved half of it to take home to have for breakfast the next day, but got wrapped up in good-byes and walked out and left it. Man I was mad! My manager ordered the Roasted Beets (with whipped Feta cheese, toasted pistachios, red onion, dill and a red wine vinaigrette). The serving was huge! She loves beets and said that the dish was very good A few people got the Broccoli Cheddar soup and said it was very good. I wanted to try the oysters as I love East Coast ones, but at $20 for 6, couldn't wrap my mind around that. The wine list was pretty good and on this particular night, we got bottles for a crazy low price. My manager got a bottle of red (can't remember the name) that was $75, but she got it for half price. Same for me for a lovely bottle of sparkling rose. The hostess had a list of wines on her tablet that she showed us as well that were 50% off. The location is quite a drive from Chicago, but the times I have to go to Lake Zurich for team meetings, I may just stop in to camp out for eats and drinks while waiting for my Uber and rush hour traffic to die out.
