When someone asks you to go to Gowanus, don't cringe from the thought of sludge and nuclear waste!…read more Instead propose a meal at Dinosaur BBQ and then a little adventure at Film Biz Recycling and Prop Shop. Who knew this magical place existed? Getting in is like making your way to the Wizard of Oz. Ring the bell, have them buzz you in, then zig zag through the warehouse maze to Film Biz. Once you open those doors, it's like a land of make believe. This is dress up for grownups. Film Biz Recycling is really meant for movie sets and theater. It's where you go when you need period pieces and décor. Cell phones as big as your face? Fake food? Gurneys and IV fluid? They'd have you ready for your low budget film in no time. For people like me who like to putz around and take goofy pictures, it's like a giant playground. Plastic turkey legs? Baby dolls. Shag carpet. A churro stand. I don't know what you'd do with all this stuff but it sure is fun. If you go a few times, you'll begin to notice that they arrange and decorate for the seasons. Right now they have their Halloween spreads in full effect. It's like a miniature haunted house! They also have all sorts of costumes. Care to be a fireman? Corn? Carmen Miranda? Football player? They have everything. I ended up getting my Halloween costume here. Took a pic of myself wearing it, posted it on social media, and got a discount on the spot. I couldn't be happier.

It's like a flea market you hit up to find things you previously just wished you could buy (or rent!). And it's staffed by fun folks who clearly love the shop, and want nothing more than to help you out. They have racks upon racks of well-labeled costumes, props, and my favorite aspect of the entire joint: stuff...in a box. By that I mean they have all sorts of ready-made kits of props/accessories for specific situations. For instance, they've got: A Wedding In A Box. Ulster County in a Box. Videos in a Box. Thanksgiving in a Box. Valentine's Day in a Box. License Plates in a Box. Whether you're looking for a Halloween costume, to decorate your home with odds and ends from various movie productions, or you just want to browse around for something you never knew you always wanted, there isn't a better place in Brooklyn. Really when you think about it, Film Biz Recycling is Awesomeness in a Box.

If you are looking for horrible customer service, not getting the correct flooring, incompetent…read moremanagement (Will) then look no further than LL Flooring, especially the Savannah, GA location. They won't deliver your floor on time, or the correct flooring, or anything else you would expect from a company BUT they will deliver on making sure your project is delayed, not providing solutions, and making sure you not only have a headache but a migraine dealing with their inability to do anything productive at all. Truly a one of kind company that you should absolutely do business with if you want a bad experience. 10/10 recommend if that is indeed what you are looking for.

Overall, we're happy with our new floors and the service provided by the contractor, but the…read moreservice we received from the Savannah LL location on Ogeechee was sub par. Amber to as a rockstar. She made the process enjoyable. However, there were several time where there were lapses in communication. We never received a call to confirm our appointment for floor estimate (we did input the incorrect email address, but we never received a call or voicemail). We then were told the wrong time to pick up our floors (because paying close to $400 for them to deliver AND bring the materials in the home is criminal). And albeit a simple mistake from a new employee, it left help us Amber to load all of our materials in our truck. Too much for one staff member, but we are so thankful for her! We then did not receive confirmation from the contractor to schedule the appointment because LL did not indicate that we picked up our materials. (We found this out after calling a few times to confirm the status of install- something LL should be taking the lead with). We then found out that we were missing some materials- LL said the contractor would bring it, and the contractor said LL should be giving it to us. So those had to be FedExed to our location. Did I mention we were not in the place of install full time, so this is why we needed communication. We needed to know when we should be there to receive and be present. Either way, the additional materials were delivered when we were out of town, and when there was a storm. Luckily nothing happened to the materials, but if we received prior communication, we could have had these things scheduled while we were there. We did call customer service and express our grievances, and spoke to the store manager, but we still experienced a tons of mishaps. The manager called me to apologize, and offered us a comp (after I requested what will be done to rectify the issue. Because quite frankly, the apology wasn't enough) When we finally scheduled the install date, there was mis communication with whether we needed to be there or not. Again, we were not in the location full time yet, so knowing ahead of time would have given us the opportunity to schedule coverage to be there. I was on the phone with the LL representative, who said they would communicate this with the contractor. LL did not. I will say that Ray's Flooring of Augusta was great! (The contractor) but LL needs to work some kinks out. ESPECIALLY for the amount we paid. But the derive with LL was NOT THE BEST. We experienced terrible communication EVERY step of the way.

I could really get into it, but I don't think there is enough space here. DO NOT HIRE THEM! I wish…read moreI could take away some stars! I had a sewer line backed up And ended up in needed to have a piece of sewer line repaired under the street. Got an awesome quote from Jimmy and was told it will take about a week. Its march 3rd. Job is still not done, 4 months later, I have a huge hole in front of my house, big pile of dirt and broken sewer pipes, piece of sidewalk missing and no response from Jimmy Tarpley at all. They kept asking me to make a final payment, I said once the job is complete you will receive the final payment, got very mad at me saying that the pipe is fixed and Im responsible for the rest. Which I never agreed to. I don't think they understand how contractors should work. Very unprofessional through out the entire process. When I asked them to repair side walk, they came out at night threw couple bags of concrete on the ground, sprayed it with water and left, they didn't even bother to make a form. I had them pull it up next day. Good thing I didn't make a full payment, they will not be getting any more $$ from me. Learn from my mistakes and don't go cheap. Stay away from them.

We called Tarpley Plumbing in early Jan 2019 and asked for some work to be done installing 2 pumps…read more This was something we saw on YouTube to eliminate standing water in a crawl space and we decided a we would pay a licensed plumber to make it happen. We got a call from a man named Shane Ramsey saying he had the work order from Tarpley plumbing to do the job. We said great and met him on site. He did part of the pump job. He then quoted us a 3500 additional proposal on expanding a natural gas line, which he explained to us that we needed spontaneously. He wanted 1900 for parts for that new project. We had not called about the natural gas line but were convinced by him that his proposal was necessary so we added the 1900 for parts to the pump labor balance check and then Shane disappeared. He cashed the check that day Jan 9. He had not even finished the pumps. After days of no-show after that and elaborate text message excuses we called Jimmy Tarpley directly for help who without hesitation screamed at us for "stealing" from HIM by writing the check to his employee. We firmly told him, we called HIM, Tarpley, and he sent his employee Shane Ramsey to us in response to us calling Tarpley Plumbing.... we did not conspire to cut Jimmy out at any time. There is no way in the world we ever would have hired Shane directly without Tarpley's licensed/bonded/insured connection sending him our way. Jimmy should have warned us if he was sending us a dishonest employee in response to our call to a licensed plumbing business. He should have warned us not to listen to Shane's instructions or suggestions. Jimmy told us we have "no common sense" because we paid Shane, yet mentioned during his rant that Shane Ramsey has worked for him for 20+ years. He told me he would just fire Shane and we would have to take Shane to court if we ever want to see that money back! We told Jimmy we expected him to make this right without court involvement after we have been paying customers twice in the past and given him no trouble and deserved better treatment. His response was "well you are giving me trouble now". Jimmy's secretary/wife Sherry called later to go over what happened and she explained sometimes when they are super busy they send "the guys out on the side". That means an employee takes a work order and runs with it on his own. This is a typical thing Jimmy condones. Sherry said they are "not responsible" since we wrote the check to Shane. I argued that Shane used their company name the whole time. He showed up to our property in a Tarpley van. The bottom line is, we called Tarpley directly and received Shane as a response to our call. She proceeded to have Shane call us with her on speaker phone and promise to complete the work by a deadline. He never showed up to even start by that deadline. More days went by with nobody showing up to work, after fielding more text excuses from Shane, we told Sherry that we expect to get a refund of the 1900 or at least $1900 in other legitimate plumbing labor worked off by Tarpley and she agreed verbally, she said she would make sure it gets made right. Even by text she said she would ensure that. She was very sympathetic and seemed to have a plan to make Shane and/or Jimmy rectify the situation which was encouraging. Later that day we got a mass email (literally) announcing that Sherry is no longer handling Tarpley Plumbing business. What a circus. Days after that we got another mass email saying now Sherry is back with Tarpley. It has been 21 days since Shane cashed our big check and he has not shown back up even to finish the pumps. If this sounds like a fun roller coaster ride to you, if you are bored and have large stacks of money to flush down the toilet, this is a perfect vendor for you to call.
