My boyfriend and i came yesterday for the first time and dropped off a few vintage dolls to sell. The lady who helped us (manager, owner, i think not sure and didn't catch name) was so extremely nice and helped us through the whole process. After we immediately went inside and explored for almost 2 HOURS. the store is HUGE and they have just about everything. It was actually magical in there, of course we wanted to buy just about everything. we were shocked at how good some of the prices were for huge beautiful furniture. We ended up buying a few porcelain dishes. and an old vintage clock and phot frame. All nice quality and really really good pricing. We have so much stuff that we would like to part with, we're planning on doing other stuff with it but will now be selling it here. Great store. read more

This was a really fun find as I love thrift shopping. The store is massive and a bit cluttered due to the number of items in the store. You could literally spend 6 hours here if you're wanting a good hunt. I enjoyed browsing...especially the furniture. However, I am very disappointed to have paid for inauthentic items. Firstly, I spotted a lovely ring. I asked for assistance to try it on and asked what the stone was. The woman assisting me said the band was white gold and the stone was a canary diamond. I couldn't find any engravings on the ring, but was assured it was vintage and real gold and diamonds. I bought it for $275. Additionally, I bought a Chanel purse that was inside one of the locked glass cases. One of the staff members offered to show it to me. They allowed me to inspect the handbag and presented me with a certificate of authenticity. I paid $600 for the bag which would have been about $6000 if it were truly authentic. I thought I'd hit the jackpot with my ring and then this purse. The sellers were very convincing. After a few uses of the handbag, it started to fall apart. The fake leather cracked all over and the hardware tarnished and turned green. Only a month later, the chain detached from the bag. I brought it back in, expressing my disappointment and kindly asked for a refund, suggesting possibly they didn't recognize it was a replica when they consigned it in store. The woman I spoke to was incredibly rude, denied the inauthenticity of the bag and said I had been too rough with it. That's simply bs. Authentic Chanel handbags last a lifetime. The one I purchased from Consignment Classics was indeed a replica, probably only worth $100. The buyers at consignment stores should know how to verify authenticity and turn away fake items. Or if they accept inauthentic "brand name" replicas, sell them at a fair price. Such as $30 for this bag. I didn't get a refund, nor any resolution. As for the ring, I kept it a lot longer. It was beautiful and did look real for a long time. After about 8 months, it started to weather. I decided to take it to a jeweler in town to appraise it and clean/polish it for me. They inspected it and let me know that it was not gold or diamonds. It was sterling silver and a citrine crystal. I should have known both purchases were too good to be true, but I've gotten some amazing luxury items at other thrift stores, so I really thought I was getting a good deal. I spent nearly $900 at CC for 2 items valued at under $100. Bottom line, this place is a scam in terms of jewelry and accessories, in my experience anyway. The customer service is manipulative, unfriendly, rushed, rude and unhelpful. read more

OMG complete and utter BS! DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO THIS PLACE. I've been using consignment stores for years and I've never encountered this situation before. I put some furniture on consignment in August and as I hadn't heard anything I called them and was told that my items had sold "out of contract" and that I was therefore entitled to nothing, nada, zero dollars. I feel like they "used me" to transport my furniture down there and then stole my money. Unbelievable! Guy says to me, "yeah it's in your contract." How can this be legal? I'll be looking into it. Huge warehouse of vintage and consignment things at good prices. I am in the market for bookshelves and can't decide whether to get something new or used. The prices here were very good, but I really wanted something sturdier and a lot of of them were particleboard in the back. But there were lots of amazing fines in other kinds, like mid-century, for very reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for furniture, instead of just spending money on new junk. read more

I love this spot. It's jam-packed with furniture, rugs, mirrors, artwork, you name it. It's less on the trinkets and little things side, although there are plenty of those in this vast space. Honestly you may come in here thinking you're seeking a chair or a rug and walk out with several art pieces and a collection of plates. Honestly, who can complain about vast selections? We placed approximately. 125 items, composed of vintage china and glassware. Out of these items, we sold 47 items, and retrieved a number that did not sell. According to the contract, the consignor receives 50% of the priced item. After 30 days, items are reduced by a further 20%, and after 60 days, they are reduced by another 50%. Items remain for sale up to 90 days, and it is the consignor to see to it that anything that has been there longer than 90 days is collected. The real drawback to placing smaller items here is that you must find and pick up any items prior to 90 days. That wouldn't be so bad, but the real trouble starts when you try to locate your items, if they haven't been sold. You can spend hours & hours trying to locate your items from a list they provide you and that they keep current. Each item is marked with a number. Unfortunately, after spending many hours hunting for items armed with current lists, many of them were never recovered. I would advise that if you are going to place any expensive glass or china in this store, then think twice. The greatest disappointment for us was that out of 8 beautiful German cut glass goblets, 3 just disappeared. We had monitored them for weeks, they didn't sell, and then one day, on a visit, we realized that some of them were just not there. They were marked as unsold on our list, and we had been visiting regularly to pull items that did not sell. The staff said they were very sorry, but even they couldn't find them. I would not place any very small, expensive item here, because if it doesn't sell, you have the dubious pleasure of roaming around the store trying to find it, many of which were never found. This is not surprising, since they don't seem to have any security cameras, nothing is placed in a locked display cabinet, and items can be moved from here to there. I myself spent so much time there, just trying to locate items. It is quite possible for items to just disappear, and they are not responsible for missing items, as stated in the contract. In conclusion, the staff are friendly enough, and there are some good bargains. What the facility needs is better lighting and a more secure way of displaying glassware and china. read more

This store is just fun to walk through with the extravagant pieces they have, it's like a museum. They also sell new furniture which is why I came here. I purchased new dresser and nightstands and had them delivered by their third party service (Oscar). I got a great deal and I love my new bedroom furniture! When I got my thing's delivered I didn't notice until after the delivery guys left that one of my nightstands was damaged. I let Oscar know and he went out of his way to deliver/exchange for a new one. Absolutely great service and lovely items. Please go even if just to loon around! read more

I have used C C at this location before but this time was disappointed. The inventory is much more crowded and not displayed well. I took a 50s mid-century brass table lamp for consignment and even gave them a new tubular bulb to use and a paper on the mfg. On eBay it is highly priced. It would have been well displayed on an end table with a sofa but I have no idea if that is where they put it after I dropped it off. After the nearly 90 days unsold I went to get it and as others have said, you have to wander around the store to find your item. It was on some out of the way shelving with many other lamps and buried in the back. But the worst is they put adhesive backed stickers in three places which I was unable to remove at their desk. One employee gave me a small cloth and I was able to rub off the largest one. I had paid to have it professionally polished before dropping off. I was crushed that these 3 stickers might affect its value and appearance as I tried to find a new home for it. Instead of another consignment, I decided to donate to a high-end charity's thrift shop and believe they will treat it well until it is sold. Bottom line for me, if it valuable, don't take it here. read more

Upon entry to Consignment Classics I was immediately impressed with the large selection of indoor and outdoor furnishings. The store was well staffed, organized, and easy to navigate. Being my first time in the store, I was unfamiliar with the process and had to ask someone how to 'claim/buy' something. Suggestion: Signage to instruct the 'consignment store newbies would be great! Online info states that Consignment Classics is the biggest and best antique mall in San Diego. I thought that because the space was so large that there would be lots of amazing finds. However, I was negatively overwhelmed by the disorganization of the space. Each of the vendor sections were very chaotic and rarely seemed to have specific themes to draw you in. Very few sections seemed to be uniquely tailored to certain themes: glassware, furniture, vintage jackets, and books. If you are interested in the themes I listed, I believe you would like this store. I'm a fan of vintage cookie jars, bakeware, embroidery, and crochet/macrame pieces, and nicely organized displays, which weren't so present here. Staff up front also was not so friendly- I felt like I was being eyed at and judged the whole time. read more

This place is great if you're looking for furniture, paintings, or even maybe some glassware or bowls, etc. Once you walk in it is pretty much warehouse-like, but all the furniture is laid out in little display areas so you can see it in action. The prices here are reasonable (for the area) and the longer an item stays here the lower the price gets, which is nice. But they know the value of things here. They also seem to rotate the items somewhat frequently so you can go pretty often and be seeing new stuff. The staff has always seemed friendly enough and it's easy to get in and out of this place - it's not a big ordeal. Will definitely be back in the future. read more

I just dropped off an Ethan Allen hutch for them to consign. Yes, it is a dated piece but it is in good shape. I didn't expect to make money on this. As I interacted with the staff who took my piece and assigned a price to it (without my input at all); I felt like I was talking to a couple of used car salespeople. Disparaging comments like "I guess we'll try to sell it", "The other (sales person) already accepted it - well ok".. Stuff like that. All I really wanted was to see this piece go to a good home, but it is hard to not feel you are being taken for a ride by these sales people. I won't likely shop or consign here again - the feeling is just wrong. Look at the piece below and call me crazy if you must :). They are listing it for $243. This company is horrible! They are unprofessional and irresponsible! I would've given them a zero star rating, but you have to at least choose a one star. I took into them two Iranian Persian rugs to try to sell. I also entrusted with them the certificates of authentication from the Iranian rug company. The rugs did not sell before I moved out of state so I went to pick them up and they had lost the certificates of authentication. Their attitude was piss poor and they acted like it was not a big deal and they did not care. Their attitude was "oh well" and they did nothing to make up for their mistake. My husband and I have frequently visited this location and have purchased a number of beautiful furniture pieces. The selection of items never disappoints. During our recent visit. We came across two items that we just couldn't live without and purchased them. While we were waiting to get assistance loading one of our items we were chatting with Laurie, one of their managers, who is also a world war II item authenticator. Her knowledge in this subject matter is amazing. She also noticed that we had been waiting a few minutes for assistance and rolled her sleeves up and helped us load the item herself. This is a very large space filled with furniture & other housewares. I really like the selection at the Encinitas location but this location doesn't have quite the offerings of high end pieces and the prices are just okay. They do have some new pieces and some antiques but a lot of it is somewhat dated used pieces. There are not a lot special pieces but there are good pieces for an office, small hotel etc. They have new mattresses. Pay attention to the condition of the used couches, tables, dressers, hutches, chairs, art, lighting fixtures, etc. because they won't point out damage & sometimes it's hard to see because of how it's positioned on the showroom floor. read more

I have enjoyed being part of the "selling end" of Consignment Classics; my older neighbor showed me how we could go to the back end of the parking and donate he and his wife's antique furniture and household goods that were in super great shape. He had to downsize and most of his "heirlooms" were just not things he wanted to drop off at Goodwill. The staff seemed well-qualified to price his items and share the proceeds 50/50. I haven't come in as much as I used to but I wanted to say that after being a little frustrated with staff not honoring prices in the jewelry area Laurie came up and helped sort it out and she was very kind. I was seconds from leaving my assortment of costume jewelry on the counter and walking out. After being told no and picking some stuff out of my pile and saying "this shouldn't be there" and then disregarding the posted pricing David (who is lovely and has helped me many times over the years) called the manager over and she took care of me. I was frustrated and Laurie smoothed it over with her calm composure. As I was checking out Walter gave me a big smile and hug and said "I haven't seen you in a while!" which was the nicest thing after feeling like I had done something wrong. This has never happened before at this store and I was taken aback but I definitely feel like it was resolved in the best way. Ok so there are two sides to every story. For years I have shopped here meaning I have been on the demand side of the story. Walk in and it's a fun store you can get lost in but for the first time I have been on the supply side. I brought two brand new items- a wine cooler refrigerator and a brand new carpet. The appraiser put a price tag of $800 on the carpet and $500 on the wine fridge. I had also two old items- a desk and a chair. The old items sold in weeks. For the last 3 months I have been calling about the new items and all I get is they haven't sold. I asked if they are showcased. They say yup so yesterday I went to look for them. Guess what? Nowhere to be found. They couldn't even find my carpet because it was rolled up somewhere and they couldn't find it. Plus they want me to go uncover and open filthy rugs to find mine. So I asked how do you want to sell them if nobody can see them? Aha!!! There is a guy who owns or rents the rug area and only his rugs are displayed. In the meantime the price of my rolled up carpet keeps going down until after 90 days they "donate" my carpet probably to the guy who displays and sells it !!! So it's a racket and when I said I want my items back they say it's not our duty to find them or del we them to you. My next stop is the police or the BBB. read more

ZERO stars. I've been shopping at all of the consignment classics for decades, as well as my entire family, and I am shocked at the awful business practices that transpired at the Hancock location. My mother was selling a couch which they priced at $10,000 and the 90 days expired, which clearly states in the contract that it needs to be moved. They sold the couch, never gave her a courtesy call, maybe 7 days before expiration? Maybe a simple call letting her know that they were reducing the price by a few thousand dollars??? She wasn't selling a simple $5 ceramic pot or a simple $25 chair or $2 dish, this was a substantial, beautiful leather couch with a marble base from LA. I would think that an item priced at this much, they would have shown her just a little attention and respect, and as a courtesy, given her just a simple two minute call for her to pick it up. Her couch is gone and she never got a penny. DISGUSTED. DISGUSTED. DISGUSTED. And for the record, I NEVER post anything on social media. read more

Avoid this place if you're considering placing an item on consignment with this business. I'd been successful with consignments at their old Encinitas location a decade ago. However, I'd been forewarned about the Hancock Street location and that some of the staff of this place were crooked thieves, but chose to leave a large folding room divider with this place to sell for me. Two weeks after dropping off the unit, I returned to see where it had been placed, but after scouring the entire store I found no trace of the divider. When questioning an employee of the business at the front desk as to why I could not locate my consignment, I was told that I hadn't searched enough, and the onus was on me to find it. Assuming the consignment had already been sold and I was being scammed, I waited until the last day of the 90 day consignment agreement to visit the store and request to pick up the piece since I'd hadn't been notified of a sale. Was given the same flim-flam that the piece had not been sold and was somewhere on the floor but it was my job to find it and trudge it to my vehicle on my own. The piece was nowhere to be found, of course. Uncertain as to their selection process of choosing whom to scam, but apparently I fit within the parameters of their victim selection process. read more

I found a nice, new sofa, from a high end furniture company, for a fabulous price. I used a dab of upholstery cleaner in the arm, and it's perfect. I've also sold items for a great price as well.
