    Conrad Mansion

What a lovely, historic home that you must visit when in Kalispell. For a history lesson about Kalispell, the Conrad Mansion is a great visit, with a lot to see and learn about. We visited the Conrad Mansion, intending to walk around the grounds on the fourth of July, but saw that there were Independence Day decorations and people walking around the grounds, as if there was an event happening there. Well, that turned out to be the case, as we learned from the friendly Conrad Mansion staff and volunteers that every year on Independence Day they host a public party here after the town's parade. It was the perfect time to experience Kalispell! For the event, they opened the mansion where admission was only five dollars per person. The house has three stories, and the rooms all have signage, indicating time period pieces and information about the purpose of the room and the Conrad Family, the founders of Kalispell. Mansion staff and volunteers are located throughout the space to answer questions. We spent about an hour touring the entire house. There is a lot to see and learn here. We had a great time visiting the mansion and learning more about the founder of Kalispell and the town's early days. I highly recommend checking out the Conrad Museum and supporting the wonderful work that the mansion staff and volunteers do.

What amazing house, if you love old history stop to see this home if your an architect person this is a house to see build in 1890s take a step back and think of living in that time in luxury, even a U.S. President stayed in the home back in the days. Kid friendly please don't touch things in the museum.

Arrived at 1015 am and decided to take the self tour versus the guided tour. The lady working the house when we arrived gave us all the information we needed upon to request. The mansion is cared for beautifully. It is highly unusual to have so many furniture pieces and artifacts original to the house. The grounds are perfect. The Conrad's had state of the art appliances and plumbing for the turn of the century. Highly recommend a visit.

I can only go by the outside. We got there at 11:00, but it wasn't open for tours until 2:00. We just could not stick around. The grounds were absolutely beautiful!

Just completed our visit there about an hour ago and let me just say "Cindy" had so many lovely stories and an unbelievable amount of knowledge about the history of this family and the house. I have been to Hearst Castle, I have been to the Winchester Mansion, but never have I been so in awe to hear the things Cindy informed us of. She is fantastic and made our visit so nice. The history is unbelievable and the amount of original items they have at this house is just WOW! I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely go back again next time I'm in Montana.

We had the absolute best guided tour by their amazing docent Cindy. She has so much knowledge about the house, all of the items in the house, and the Conrad family. Would highly recommend this tour!!

Being tourists in town we decided to try this place out. Tours are every so often and we ended up being the only ones in our group. Free parking on the street and public bathrooms across the street from the house make it easy to get to and have services. Gal on tour was nice, and I'm glad we did the full tour. So many details from the tour that really give you insight to the family that owned the home as well as the Kalispell area. We really enjoyed the history and seeing the original items in the house. The iron/dry thing in the attic was amazing! The hidden mail compartments was sentimental. And all those classic toys. They do have a small gift shop and a donation bucket at the end. With the cost of the tour I wasn't inclined to donate more. Hopefully the locals will preserve this house, it's a gem in your town.

    Glacier Guides and Montana Raft

For 30 years, I have dreamed of floating down the Flathead river along the legendary snow-capped…read moremountain peaks of Glacier National Park. Over the years, I have looked at dozens (OK, hundreds) of photos of the wet, smiling faces of the boaters splashing and paddling through the whitewater rapids. They always look so happy and excited! Oh, how I wanted to be "that guy" in the photo. In 2024, I decided I had waited long enough and pulled the trigger. With a gentle nudge from my best friend, I booked a 2-day whitewater rafting adventure with Glacier Guides and Montana Raft. It was time- and it was now my turn! We made our way north in June, 2025 crossing through 8 states and into Montana. A day before we arrived at the Glacier Guide office, I received a call from our rafting guide, Zack. He sounded as excited as we were and walked us through the itinerary and what we could expect when we arrived. Very professional! The day had come! When we arrived at the Glacier Guide Office, we were greeted by our guides, Zack and Abby who are absolute Rock Stars and clearly love what they do. They made sure we had all the recommended gear and helped us re-pack our gear into waterproof bags for our Rocky Mountain adventure. We met the others assigned to our boat and got fitted for wet suits, life jackets and helmets. Within an hour, we loaded into our bus and headed north- 2 big, blue rafts in tow. The first day was spent easing down the Flathead River along the banks of Glacier National Park. The views were just beautiful. Our guide on the first day was Abby, who was as funny as she was skilled at navigating the Class II river. Zack floated ahead of us in the "gear boat" which carried all our tents, food and camping gear. We stopped for lunch around noon which gave us an opportunity to stretch our legs and get to know the other members of our party. Bald eagles were observed every so often, as were momma ducks with their babies close by. Everyone was on the lookout for grizzly bears that are common in Glacier, but unfortunately none were seen on our trip. After lunch, we continued down the river for several hours until Zack found a good spot to call "home" for the night. We had a few hours before nightfall and spent our time making camp, hanging wet clothes and enjoying some of the most beautiful mountain views in the world. We helped the guides unload the gear boat before enjoying grilled steak and salmon for dinner. The food was fantastic, as was the fellowship! After dinner, we sat around a little campfire and relaxed with our new friends. Tired from a long day on the water, we all headed to our tents around 10:00 PM. 6:00 AM, daylight and the smell of coffee and bacon stirred us from our tents. With the sounds of the river flowing below, we eased into the new day with a great breakfast before we broke camp, donned our protective gear and loaded our raft. We changed captains and Zack guided us down the river after a safety brief, Abby navigated the "gear boat" a safe distance behind. Another glorious Montana day on the river. The closer we got to the entrance of Glacier Park, the more dramatic the views and more challenging the whitewater became. Zack expertly and safely navigated the Class III rapids, all while we paddled like crazy when the order "All forward!" was given. The last stretch of water had 8 named rapids like "Bone Crusher," "Pinball" and "The Big Squeeze." All of us got drenched to the bone and wouldn't have it any other way. It was the Montana trip of a lifetime and everything I hoped it would be. As our 2-day, overnight adventure came to an end, our guides "high-fived" us and thanked us for joining them. I was sad to leave, I cannot lie. Zack and Abby with Glacier Guides knocked it out of the park- true professionals and an absolute pleasure to be around. I will never forget my Rocky Mountain adventure and am so grateful for the staff of Glacier Guides that helped make a dream come true. I can confidently recommend Glacier Guides to anyone. ~David T. I can accept the price raise from a few years ago, but I can't accept the underlying racist attitude. I genuinely try to have a positive attitude with everyone, and this lady was so rude. I observed as other families came in, that happened to be a different skin tone than me and the attitude was extremely friendly with them. Additionally, the amount of signs everywhere.. just felt so unwelcoming, if you don't want anyone to enjoy and be comfortable in your "vortex", skip the do not do this signs, and just close down. As I walked through the shop, I had never been so watched in my life. Not that had any intention of taking anything, but I felt so uncomfortable by this lady already on the few interactions we had. Additionally, I got there early before my tour and had asked if I could have the Wi-Fi password as I had a couple things to do for work while I was waiting. Instead of the lady just telling me didn't have it or she couldn't give it out, she implied that I was going to steal the credit card information off of her machine if I have the Wi-Fi password. Not only is this a poorly educated assumption, but it's extremely rude. How is a place that values themselves in science and new theories going to act so ignorant.
