I was warmly greeted and directed to the counter. Excellent! The teller I dealt with asked how…read moreshe could help. I explained I wanted to a purchase a bank check in the amount of $16.50. The teller nicely requested my ID and I furnished that. She told me that the charge would be $6. I told her that was fine and I held out $40. cash to pay for the transaction. A gentleman with a beard sauntered over and asked if I was a customer of the bank. I replied that I was not a customer of the bank. He just shook his head. He stated, we can't do it. I inquired.. "Why not?", "Bank Policy" was his response. He just kept shaking his head glumly. It was kind of surreal because he was standing infront of a Menora, backlit by holiday lights. The teller looked embarassed. Realizing this was a bizzare exchange, I asked.. "OK, is there a different product I should be buying? Something like a money order?" My family has had accounts here for over a decade. We've watched this place get slowly flushed down…read morethe toilet. I hate the remote teller machines, and nearly everyone who works here acts annoyed when you need to speak with a living human being. Also, at least twice a year, they have data breaches, and our debit cards get canceled, then we're left to wait for them to issue new cards. This is inconvenient and time consuming, but it seems to be the world we're living in now. I truly wish they would go back to having regular tellers. It was actually a nice, friendly place then.

I've been with Webster Bank for 15 plus years, two checking accounts (approximately 22k on deposit)…read moreand a home equity loan with a balance of 99,400. Oh and a credit card. I get a service fee of $21.95 and I call in. They said they changed their accounts and sent me a disclosure packet in the mail. I asked to have the fee waived and switched to a different program. They would not waive the fee. They said no to waiving $ 21.95 but preferred to lose a client. So, here comes the best part. I look for a new bank, one with a great on-line banking program (JD Power rated) and I refinanced my loan at a much lower rate. I'm saving money and have a great checking account with no fee's. Thanks for making me mad Webster Bank.
