I was 1st told only Dr Girma Tefera accepts insurance covered patients, and i thought that is a gd start to know which doctor i will be seeing. Then i was given the date 24dec and i go 'are you open on Xmas eve?', and she goes 'oh no, actually we only have slot on 21st'. i said ok, and 5sec later she said 'we are full, we can put you in on 28th', puzzled but i said ok to that too. She got my details, and ask if i like a morning or afternoon appt, i replied morning please, and then she went, we are full on 28th, over-full, we can only book you on 30th. OMG!! That is the proverbial last straw, i told her she's really messed up as an appt taker, and i dunno what broken system she's looking at when making appointments for patients. She went on to say they are very full, and i can only think if she even understand what she is spewing all these while. She gave me the 4 diff dates, they are not dates i request bec i only ask for the earliest available. I shudder to think what pains i have to bear trying to claim the insurance after base on all the good Samaritans reviews here bec they did not want others to go through what they suffered.

Scheduling me ahead of others (I don't know how many) and teaming up with another highly respected surgeon, I finally received approval and had my surgery last week. He spent a lot of time before surgery in pre-op, explaining the surgery and the risks. He answered every question patiently. He wasn't rushed, he was purposeful. When my daughter had questions, he called her. He checked up on me while I was in the hospital and when I got home. The bottom line, for me, is that I am now pain-free, doing moderate PT as required, and feeling the best I have ever felt in YEARS. Of course, every situation is different. This is the second time I have experienced this problem with ROSM including previously in July with another doctor in the practice. Both times I was taken to an examining room in a timely manner and was left to wait in the room. After over 30 minutes, I left the room and spoke to one of the staff to ask if there was a problem. Both times I was told that the doctor was with another patient and would be in to see me in a while. My first complaint, therefore, is that it is not the patient's responsibility to determine why there is a delay. The doctor should instruct his/her staff to let the patient know that there is a delay and what are the patient's alternatives. Both times the staff person apologized for which I appreciate their apologies. An apology by a staff person, however, does not indicate that there will be any change in how waiting patients are informed of delays. On September 12, 2024, the staff person told me that the doctor was in a room with no clock, which is not an excuse but demonstrates poor planning by the doctor. Therefore, my second complaint is that the ROSM Washington, DC office is poorly managed and fails to properly plan appointment times for patients. I will not be returning to this practice for any reason.
