I also enjoyed a pot of tea with what I would have to suspect was homemade lemon meringue. Delicious! I also have to make note that they do also offer ice cream here. I was pleasantly surprised that they had bubble gum flavor. I have been looking for this flavor back home in the states with no success. Who would have guessed I would find it deep in the Irish countryside.

What a cute little coffeeshop on the border of County Mayo!…read more My tour group stopped in Cong for a 45-minute breather with the option to meander around the tiny village. Puddleducks was the closest shop to the bus. Usually I'd wander a bit to find the "best" coffee option, but I was enchanted by this business' adorable name and didn't look any further. I wasn't the only one with the idea. While I was second in line, many more tour goers queued behind me. Only a couple girls were working at the time and looked somewhat frazzled by the sudden crowd. They suggested we grab seats to be served efficiently. However, I mentioned that I was looking for a takeaway rather than dine in and was served immediately. I ordered a vanilla latte without looking at the menu in advance. It was 2.50 euro and served fast and hot. It was so nice walking around in the slight chill and drizzle with the drink in hand. I'd recommend a stop to Puddleducks if you're in the area or your tour makes a pit stop.

The space itself is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables and a private room, which gives it that intimate, tucked‑away feel. I'd 100% go back. They offer two specialty cocktails and a wine list, and while the cocktail selection is limited, the wines are unique and fantastic -- definitely worth exploring. The food was outstanding across the board. The monkfish scampi isn't what you might picture, but it's fantastic -- super crispy and full of flavor. And you have to get the bread: tomato focaccia or brown bread, then topped with the fennel, thyme, and maple butter were all unforgettable. The bavette steak was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were truly out of this world. The sea trout was incredibly fresh; just a heads‑up that the gremolata is spread over the whole dish, so it ends up almost poached in olive oil -- worth noting for anyone sensitive to that, but the flavor itself was excellent. Definitely end the night with the affogato and the shortbread cookies (chef's kiss). Who doesn't like to dunk their dessert? Highly recommend, would absolutely come back.

It reminds me of a country home by the water. The service was friendly and young. I got the plum salad, fallow deer, and roasted peach/caramel ice cream. The salad was spectacularly tasteful and fresh. I felt like the deer was a little too salty for my taste, but presentation was good. I was disappointed by the dessert. My ice cream was partially melted and the peaches were cold. I would give the environment/ambiance 5/5, service 5/5 and food 3.5/5. Overall 4/5.

The bacon was thick-cut and full of crispy, salty, porky goodness. The sausages were nothing to write home (or Yelp) about, but it just adds nicely to the overall sandwich. The egg was still runny and created a great "sauce" for the remaining bites. I felt like I needed an infusion of spinach and kale after that bap, but it was well worth it. The coffee was decent and came in my favourite type of vessel, large bowl-like mug. This bap is best enjoyed sitting on their patio, enjoying the sunshine and the local morning chatter.

BF ordered a pint of Smithwicks - got a half pint. When the food came out, though, it was lovely. BF had the chowder, seafood was fresh, there was some lovely dill, the bread wasn't too crumbly, and the cream was thick without being overwhelming. My salmon was perfectly cooked atop a bed of wonderfully roasted veggies. Two waiters brought the check (two slips of paper), and three promised to go get the credit card machine (one did come back with it, and pretty promptly). We'd go back if we were ever in town again.
