Ask the Community - Connections Wellness Group

Is this a good place to go to treat panic attacks for a 45 year old?

It really depends on who you are assigned to. I would practice firm self-advocacy to ensure you get a psychiatrist who will actually listen, and the same for a therapist.

I cannot possibly express my gratitude for the wonderful providers I have worked with in personal counseling for myself as well as IOP and PHP for a family member.

The ease of scheduling an appointment and the comfort and privacy of the office are conducive to a helpful and healing environment and experience. They do accept insurance, but make sure you mention it when you call to schedule the first time because it may make a difference in who you see. When you come in the first time, come 15 minutes early or so to fill out the paperwork; it may be waiting for you on a clip board since everyone may be in session and they don't have a full-time receptionist. (But I find that for this kind of therapy, some times it's better to not have to interact with anyone but the therapist). My kids and I see Michelle Dean and have had a year of emotional and physical healing through her therapy sessions. EVERYONE can benefit from counseling, never underestimate the power of talk therapy. The counselors have so many techniques and so much insight into so many situations. Your situation is not too complicated or too far gone to be addressed and on its way to healing. **Update: While the Greer & Associates Staff are wonderful, Michelle Dean is now at Connections Wellness and we have moved over to CW in Corinth with her. Therapy can be a "taboo" subject for some people but if you're in need of help/guidance- give them a try! I go to Kelby every other week and she's been amazing for me and my growth. (I know I was worried that it would be pricey- and it wasn't at all!)!

I have been seeing Brad on a weekly basis and I've had very positive results in how I deal with grief and conflict in my life. I've been to other family and personal counselors that barely touch the surface of your inner conflict and rely on telling you what you want to hear versus what you need to hear in order to keep the next appointment. Brad gets down in the mud and weeds with you to identify the source of the problem and provides real life scenarios and homework for you to put into practice as you work toward a repeatable solution. She recommended EMDR but kept saying she needed more time with me/more information. This was after seeing her for about 3 months during the summer. Weekly appointments at $200. I think she has a lot of insight and is very smart, but if you're like me and value promptness and a little more effort on the emotional side. I do not think she is a good fit for you. She was continually late, but made sure to always get me out at my time. I'm tired of their time being valuable and mine not..... Or maybe if she is really busy she might need to stop accepting new patients. We didn't end on bad terms. But, I just got a charge on my CC a year later for an appt that she forgot to charge. I don't appreciate the unprofessionalism especially when you're paying so much.

As a parent with sole medical rights to my son, Pam Rinn corresponded with my ex-husband without including me in communication, allowing herself to be influenced. After obtaining copies of her documentation, the emails were in plain sight, along with session notes that were completely inaccurate. If you're not a parent that allows your child to have full freedoms, you will be judged and labeled as "controlling" and "using fear tactics" - In regards to her "therapy" approach, you'll be paying for your child to shoot hoops, play with sand, move some blocks etc. More appropriate for very young children. My son who was approaching pre-teen needed to talk and for someone to listen. He said he felt like he was in 1st grade with worksheets and asked repeatedly not to go anymore. After bringing this to her attention and asking for more "talk therapy" nothing changed. As a result, my son, received 0 help for the struggles he was going through until I moved him counselors, which was within my right. I could have plainly just never said anything and moved counselors, however, professionally, I thought it was important for him to express why he wanted to change. As a result, she then noted that I "sabotaged" the counselor/patient relationship by having my son do a "meet and greet" with a male counselor and said again I was being "controlling." Be very careful about this woman, I wouldn't trust her or her practice and would not recommend her to anyone.
