I am so thankful for Michelle Fitzhugh. She is compassionate and kind but also incredibly practical…read morein how she serves her clients. She is Biblical in her beliefs while also aware of how trauma and abuse effect the brain. What a combination! She doesn't just offer traditional hourly appointments, she also offers half-day and full-day intensives with EMDR, brain-spotting, and other highly effective neurological treatments. I have experienced so much healing and growth in her care.

I saw Cara awhile back. She is great( if you can afford her). However, at the end of our time I…read morefelt more like it was about the money (for her). She recommended EMDR but kept saying she needed more time with me/more information. This was after seeing her for about 3 months during the summer. Weekly appointments at $200. I think she has a lot of insight and is very smart, but if you're like me and value promptness and a little more effort on the emotional side. I do not think she is a good fit for you. She was continually late, but made sure to always get me out at my time. I'm tired of their time being valuable and mine not..... Or maybe if she is really busy she might need to stop accepting new patients. We didn't end on bad terms. But, I just got a charge on my CC a year later for an appt that she forgot to charge. I don't appreciate the unprofessionalism especially when you're paying so much.

Another shout out to Jason McCoy. He seriously changed our lives. After Brain Balance and family…read moretherapy proved unsuccessful, a psychologist recommended play therapy for our 7-year old son. It was no easy task to find a play therapist right for him. Don't get me wrong, there are tons out there and I'm sure many are great, but we were looking for someone specific -- someone who was knowledgeable working with boys likely with ADD, ODD, anxiety, impulsivity, and a bit depressive. I was on a phone call with a therapist who threw out Jason's name. At this point I had researched/talked to dozens, but as soon as I pulled up Jason's website and looked at his credentials and training, I just knew he was the one for my son -- and the parent meeting solidified that. Jason is extremely positive, supportive, and knowledgeable in his field. He has this light, airy, happy, laid-back vibe about him, and we all immediately connected with him. My son adores him. We've been with Jason since February and will be wrapping up in October. I never thought we'd get here. We have not only seen a huge change in our son, but my husband and I feel better equipped to deal with any episodes. Jason has educated us along the way using the ACT model. It is bittersweet for sure and we have shed many tears as our chapter with him ends. Check him out! He is worth every penny.

When we were referred to Tracie Owens at the Center for Neuroperformance and Counseling, we…read moreapproached hopefully, yet with an ounce of skepticism as we had been through many years of working with therapists with limited positive results. Our son immediately formed a connection, and learned that Tracie Owens and her crew actually care for their clients. More importantly, they have the training to lead clients to make wise decisions. They don't pander to our son when he has a problem, but deal head on, and steer him to the right solution. Our son has several neurological challenges, and CNC is successfully breaking through. People over profit is the method under which CNC operates. They have worked with us so our son could have treatment to deal with several serious life challenges., When he abused over-the-counter meds CNC refused to work with him until he started seeing a licensed drug counselor before he got into deep trouble. Less professional therapists would have limped along, collecting payments each week. Tracie puts welfare ahead of everything: The patient matters. As does the entire family. Patients, not profit, is the goal. More times than I can count, staff responded with help outside of office hours. Their lifesaving help is more than 9-to-5 work. Therapy and biofeedback make a huge positive difference. The greatest example I can think of was that our son met our new contact at Texas Workforce Commission in early February. We saw her again in April, and she expressed amazement at our son's improvement. He was more relaxed, positive, and ready to face what life has to offer. Surprisingly, since he has resisted all treatment over the years, he immediately credited biofeedback and therapy from CNC. He realizes for the first time in his life he is learning to cope. That is major.

Strongly disliked our experience with Dr. Wooten, and I truly regret not trusting my instincts from…read morethe very beginning. Honestly, I should have canceled after her assistant first called to reschedule our appointment so Dr. Wooten could attend a political event for her senate campaign. That alone should have been a red flag--but unfortunately, it wasn't the last time her priorities felt misplaced. During our visit, she seemed more interested in discussing her political ambitions than focusing on my child. After the first appointment, my husband and I only continued because we were led to believe she could help with behavioral therapy for our son's aggression. That turned out to be completely misleading. At our second visit, she actually cut the appointment short so she could use the restroom before another political meeting. Again, our time--and more importantly, our child's care--felt secondary. Then came the testing. Her assistant repeatedly assured me that she had verified with our insurance and that we would only be responsible for a co-pay. I even questioned whether to proceed, since the testing could cost up to $1,300 out of pocket and we were not seeking any diagnosis--just help with behavior. We were reassured enough to move forward, believing we'd receive actual support afterward. Instead, at the follow-up, Dr. Wooten diagnosed my FOUR-year-old with ADHD and immediately began pushing medication. When I declined, she responded by saying my child would be disliked by teachers and peers and labeled if we didn't medicate him. That was not only inappropriate, but frankly alarming. There were no alternative strategies offered--no behavioral therapy, no guidance--just repeated pressure to medicate. When I asked about the therapy we were initially told she could provide, she dismissed us, saying she couldn't help because he "only" has ADHD. Her only other "solution"? Purchase pre-recorded videos she made in 2020 for hundreds of dollars. To make matters worse, after all of this, I was informed by her assistant that we would not just owe a co-pay as promised, but instead over $800. This directly contradicted everything I had been told beforehand. At that point, it felt less like a mistake and more like deliberate misinformation. I left this experience feeling frustrated, misled, and honestly sick over the financial strain it has put on my family--all while trying to do the right thing for my child. I would strongly caution other parents to look elsewhere for care.
