I reached out to Ear Associates in May of 2026 to see a doctor for an ear infection. I booked my appointment for 5/29/26. Upon arriving to the doctor's office I was escorted into a room and a provider started running audible testing on me. I asked the provider to stop and expressed concern as i was coming in for an ear infection and thought I was to see a doctor. The provider said I was not allowed to see the doctor until they finished this audible tests. Upon booking of this appointment, no one disclosed anything in regards to a requirement for audible tests. Since i was in dire need to see a doctor, I begrudgingly proceeded. The audible testing lasted for 20-30 minutes. Then i finally got to see a doctor for my ear infection. Even the doctor expressed confusion as to why i was subjected to hearing tests just for an ear infection. The doctor's office agreed to waive the doctor's visit fees, however, I asked to be charged for the doctor's visit and to credit for the audible testing that was not disclosed and forced upon me. The office refused. Additionally, Jacqui Garcia whom was the last person i spoke to at this facility was extremely rude and unhelpful with any further path forward to resolving this issue. Extremely shady. They should be upfront about requiring these hearing tests ahead of seeing a doctor instead of forcing them upon you and refusing to credit it from the bill.

Looking for ear protection or in-ear monitors? Look no further than Shauna Raynor at Selective…read moreSounds. If you've ever used foam inserts to protect your ears you've experienced "muffled" sound. Things are quieter but they don't sound like themselves--kinda like the whole world got a cold. That's not acceptable when mixing a band or playing in a band--we gotta hear how things really sound. Five years ago, a fellow sound mixer suggested I invest in custom fit filters that dim loud sounds without changing their character. Several members of our band and sound team also wanted custom filters so Shauna brought her portable kit to our rehearsal. The fitting took about 5-10 minutes per person for both ears. Shauna did a great job keeping us informed about how the procedure would feel and how to stay relaxed for the best fitment results. Two weeks later, I received perfectly fitting filters and they accompany me to every music/theater event. New materials and new in-ear monitors have recently hit the market so it's time to buy new stuff. Shauna was my first phone call to arrange a new fitting appointment.

I am writing this on behalf of my Mom who went to see Dr Margaret Carter.   She has been suffering…read morefrom a consistent earache for the past 2 weeks and was finally able to get a referral to see an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist.   We came in on time at 10:30am 4/26/24.  Upon arriving, we were asked by the front desk to fill up an 8 page form prior to seeing the doctor. Mind you, my mom is 74 years old and everything at this age just takes extra time.  We were expecting to be treated with empathy and consideration.   This was not the experience we had here at all. After a few minutes, the front desk receptionist told my mom to "Hurry up to finish completing the forms!"   This was already surprising because I didn't expect for them to treat my mom with such harshness.   It was then that  the medical assistant came out and rushed my mom to come inside the room with the forms not being completed at all. My mom told the receptionist that she was not done with the forms and her harried response to her was "You can finish them on the way out." The medical assistant then came and asked my mom to follow her into the exam room.   As my mom was going in the room, she abruptly yelled for my mom to  "take a seat."  Surprised at her obvious rudeness with my mom, my Dad then asked her "why are you so loud?" She responded with a harsh stare and no response at all.  When asked what her name was, she said "Mida" and did not bother to look up from what she was doing.    In my mind I was already thinking, is this how you treat 74 year old patients?  Unacceptable.   Mida took my mom's blood pressure and pulse rate. After taking her vital signs, she asked my mom to "Go to the scale" with the same demanding voice.  She didn't even bother to take off the pulse rate instrument including blood pressure cuffs.  My mom was a little dumbfounded at this point because usually the equipment is taken off first. Did Mida expect her to do this herself? My mom then asked her  "Do you want me to drag this pulse rate kit to step onto the scale?"   It was only then that Mida took the pulse rate kit off of my Mom.   When my mom actually go to see Dr Margaret Carter, it was only 4 minutes total.  Complete waste of our time and energy to only be treated like crap.  Hoping this review helps some of the rest of you if you ever need to choose an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist.  I'm writing this because no one deserves to be treated like this.   Especially my 74 year old parents.

He informed me that adjustments need to be made at least yearly and that applies to all wearers of hearing aids. I informed him that the cheaper Apple AirPod pro now can be used a hearing aid. I have been seeing the same audiologist - who also is an audiology professor - for over a decade, but she was out of network for my employer's insurance plan. Better Hearing Center was the only place within 40 miles that had the Widex brand I wanted, so I made an appointment. Dr. Mark recommended the Resound brand over the Widex I originally wanted and he was absolutely correct due to the advances that Resound had over the older Widex models that I knew about. I would put Better Hearing Center into the "hearing aid mill" class of providers. Dr. Mark is personable and took the time to answer all of my questions during my initial testing and delivery appointments. However, I felt that my hearing test and hearing aid configuration were perfunctory. And when I called, emailed, and asked for assistance through the app to tune my programming several times around 14 months after I got them, I never got a response except from the office manager who told me she would pass my message along. I paid my long-term audiologist to take over management of my hearing aids so that she can tune them for me going forward. She made some small EQ tweaks and one VERY MAJOR change. She showed me that I had the wrong wires (#4), which were so long that the hearing air hung down behind my ear so that the front-facing microphone was hidden behind it and not picking up sounds from in front of me. That may explain why I couldn't hear in restaurants using the advanced beam-forming technology that was the main reason for choosing this brand. I remember asking Dr. Mark why he didn't use the wire-length template and he told me that he had enough experience to not need it. Guess that wasn't true. To sum up, Better Hearing Center may be your only in-network choice, and going with them is not a bad decision. Just be aware that you may not get the right configuration or follow up care that you need until your insurance pays for your next set of hearing aids. I am 9 months away from that and may need visit Dr. Mark again for an upgrade.
