If I could give them LESS than one star I would. We built a new home and they installed our fireplace. We moved in June 2022. The first time we test ran it in November, it ran. The second time we ran it something was wrong and it screeched horribly (possibly a fan) and we shut it off immediately and called Congo. They came out 2 weeks later and fixed it. Then they charged us $175 for a service call "because service calls aren't warrranty work." Uh, you installed it poorly and YOU had to come out and fix your mistake. Kicker - when William the service manager called me to see "how happy I was" with the service, I told him I wasn't happy about the $175 fee. He talked over me "have a nice day" and hung up on me. SO RUDE. I will never do business with them again. read more

I bought a very expensive set of gas logs and right out of the gate, it wouldn't stay lit. So I called and they scheduled a service call. They had to replace the pilot assembly. Even though it was under warranty, and they didn't tell me up front there would be a charge - the service guy came with an invoice and charged me $160 for the service call. It was $100 part, so they covered their parts and labor - and I'm out $960 for a set of gas logs!! They don't stand behind their expensive products very well. read more

We purchased a wood stove from here, on order for about a month (we were told that up front). When it came in they called to set up the install, the guys were prompt and professional, in out & gone in about 2 hours. We are extremely pleased with our purchase our experience working with Doug. This is the least helpful business I have gone into in years. I was there for 30 minutes and was never acknowledged by anyone. Several male employees were visiting and laughing but never offered to help. I left and called the store hoping for help. I had to leave a message and finally received a call TWO DAYS later. By then, I had already purchased what I needed from Lowe's. I try to shop locally, but I will never walk in the doors of Congo Fireplace and Patio, which is sad because I will be purchasing all new patio furniture and grill for my new house. read more

This place is the place to go for outdoor furniture and accessories. Bought a big green egg from them and absolutely love it! They also have all of the pieces, seals and accessories to keep it up. I will day they are not cheap, but neither is the product. The employees really went out of their way to help me and give me lots of information on my big green egg. The parking lot is not exactly ideal, but it is adequate. read more

I'm a former customer, just full disclosure. This place is pretty expensive, but has some good, high end patio furniture, grills, and fireplace inserts/stoves. My wife and I went in to look for a couple of patio chairs today and found what we wanted. Several hundred dollars a piece. We asked if we could buy the chairs instead of the entire set (fire pit, chairs, couch) for several thousand dollars. The answer? "No, we don't do that anymore. It takes 6 months to get them back in stock since Covid messed the supply chain up. But we can order them for you and YOU can wait 6 months for them." Really? So what you're telling me is that instead of making a sale and waiting to get inventory back in, you're willing to inconvenience the customer willing to buy from your establishment right now so your store doesn't have to wait instead? I'm sorry, but who is paying for you to be in business? The customer, surprise! Done doing business here. Too bad a business thinks it's alright to make a customer wait for 6 months for something that you have in stock right in front of them so your store won't be inconvenienced. read more

We bought a fireplace from them in 2016 it's not 2 years old yet and the back brick has crumble apart wow what kind of product are they saling I would not recommend them to anyone not happy with the product or there service a fireplace should not fall apart that easy and such a short time. Seems to me they don't take pride in there product and I will suggest to anyone that ask me to go someplace else to by a fireplace a place that takes pride in there products to not sale a fireplace that the brick just breaks and crumbles apart. Been there twice in the last two years. Very poor salesman and high prices. It is pretty much take what they have. No explanation or knowledge of products. Today, could not even explain how to adjust an umbrella or tell us what the chairs were made of. I guess when you charge as much as they do, you don't need to sell very much. Never bought anything and never will go back. Just trying to warn others. Don't waste the gas or your time. read more

High prices on all the items I have been researching but they carry the higher end name brands as well like on grills it is Green Egg, etc. I needed a part for my fireplace and I did get it but it had to be ordered the parts manager was the only one to talk to and if you called to speak to him you could only give your name and number and wait for him to call back.... I ended up going into the store because 3 hrs later I had not heard back yet. In this area we are limited when it comes to being able to get parts for fireplaces so this was my only option and I had been ont he internet trying to find a faster way of getting the item. If I had a choice and belive me I tried I would have gone somewhere else. No one in the store was friendly or very helpfull. I figured they thought I didn't have the money to spend on their items so I was a waste of time.... at least that is what it felt like to me. read more

I was in the market for a blue Yeti 35 cooler. After calling/searching 5 other stores with no luck (to include Bass Pro, Dicks, and Gander Mountain), Congo said that they had 1 in stock on the phone. When I arrived at the store, Congo had the cooler waiting for me at the register. All of the employees were very friendly and accommodating. SUPER HIGH PRICES! The sales person we dealt with was nice but none of the people there have very friendly personalities. Had to ad a little more pipe on the install of a fireplace and received another $$$ bill in the mail as if we had not already dropped thousands on a fireplace. 2ft of pipe & an elbow apparently have some gold in it. I've been in the store several times across the last five years. They have always been helpful. I've bought accessories and supplies for my grills, and have never had a problem. They greet me when I come through the door, come over to help me, and will leave me alone when I let them know I'm just having a look around. They typically have the best prices on Big Green Eggs and related items (which is why I go there). They also keep a decent supply of good hardwood lump, which can be hard to find. read more

After calling many times, setting up appointments, and Congo Fireplace & Patio missing every appointment and not returning phone calls, I quit. No call, no show, while I am waiting for them to come to my house to do work is unacceptable, unprofessional, and outright cost me time and money. We have several fireplaces that we were revamping, replacing, and upgrading. Every staff member I met was either rude on the telephone or rude in-person at their store. I was ready to spend many thousands of dollars on fireplace hardware and labor, but nobody would follow through. At one point, I even told them I am willing to pay whatever it takes to get my work done. I will even pay up front. Just keep the appointments you made to come to my house. They never did that. I even spoke to the son of the owner. He gave me his card and assured me he would call me back and take care of everything. I verified my phone number with him (he showed me his mobile phone where he put my contact info in it) and he also wrote it on a yellow Post-It note. He never called me back, but I called him and left messages he never returned. I was advised by a builder, a brick mason contractor, and my chimney sweep contractor to never do business with Congo Fireplace & Patio. I tried to give them my business and money over and over for about 3 months during the off-season, but they were incapable of basic things like keeping any of the three different appointments set. Not only did they never show up for appointments, they didn't even bother to call and reschedule. This is just my personal experience. Maybe others will get better service, but they made it very clear to me that they have zero interest in being polite, professional, or following through on their word. read more
