I have faxed notarized letters, sent proof of lean and temporarily registered my car....all things I should have been told I needed to do to be in compliance with Hawaii state law. Which after delay came to find out from Port workers. Again I spoke with their west coast office literally seven times in preparation for this shipment. My husband is out on deployment and has given me power of attorney to handle his affairs. This has caused me to miss work for over a month. I asked their representatives what it was I needed to have my car shipped to me. I have been on hold with various institutions for hours and have faxed and overnighted several different documents to ensure my car was shipped. Costing many hours, and a lot of money. The missing information they neglected to tell me (after asking them what I needed many times on different occasions ) delayed the shipment of my car for over a month. I'm not only furious, when I called again today "Angel" was very condescending toward me and stated "everything you need to know is on the website mam" ....I have read their website and never saw all of these requirements...there are many for my particular situation. You'd think people who work for the company would know what I needed. As I have been over my situation with them many, many times. But failed miserably to accommodate after I have spent thousands of dollars with the company. "Angel" continued to have a huge attitude and interrupt me numerous times, cutting me off..and just over all a horrible rep. After picking up the phone even she said "Hello Matson" and then sighed for like four whole seconds clearly displaying her utter contempt for her position. I have lived in Hawaii for a year, so shipping with Matson was necessay. Once I receive my car at the port in Seattle, where I now live, I will NEVER use their services again. Military Wife~

I've used them twice based on this site and I wont be fooled again. First, they didn't answer the phone either time. They called back 90 seconds later when I was ringing a new number. Second, there is some major language difficulties going on here. I tend to think I speak clear enough to be understood verbally (after all the Pizzas I have delivered always arrive OK), but the first time the dispatcher asked me to text him the address, and he'd call me back; the second time the driver called me three different times to ask where my housing street was, and finally said he was close. We waited outside for 25 minutes before he showed up. The car was filthy, and my friend said he didn't notice a license posted. This company could improve with just a few changes. 1. Get a professional dispatcher that answers the phone and speaks clearly. Have Google maps ready and input the address the caller gives them, confirming they heard you correctly. Put the location of the cab that will respond in the directions and give the caller the estimated time of arrival. 2. Keep the vehicles clean and in fully working order. In the meantime I'm going to find a new cab company to call for pick ups. I just don't know which one, it seems all of them in this city have their detractors...

The guy that answered seemed to understand the timing and address, and I confirmed that he had my number. The day of pick up he called at 4:20am and I reminded him I needed to be picked up at 4:30. At 4:35 I called and he said he had taken a wrong turn, but evaded my question when I asked when he would arrive. At 4:40 my brother offered to take me to the airport. At 4:50am I got another call from the taxi guy and I'm not entirely sure what he even said to me. I told him I no longer needed him as I was supposed to leave twenty minutes ago. He apologized and hung up. He was at least twenty minutes late to picking me up for something as important as getting to the airport. I have no idea when he would have actually arrived but I'm certain I would not have made it to my flight. Communication does not seem to be a strong point with this company, nor punctuality.

DON'T WALK, RUN away from these people. Setup: I had already started packing. So along with sq-ft…read moreof the apartment, I provided a detailed inventory of all the large items, and an estimate of cu-ft in boxed sundry. I also gave them photos and suggestions for off-street parking. On moving day, they arrived 40 min late and had no information about the parking situation (+15 min for moving the moving truck). Either the estimator or dispatch listed me as a single room rather than top-to-bottom 1,000 SF apartment. They only booked a 2-person team for 4 hours (needed to be double), and nowhere near enough packing materials to finish the job. Between the late start and fixing all the problems, we burned 2 hours before even getting started. The guys were complaining TO ME that they wouldn't be paid overtime. Their preferred time-saving method was to simply empty kitchen drawers (including sharps) into huge boxes that also had paper lantern floor lamps, decorative pillows, and random stuff from my office (lamps were trashed). There were only 2 closets; both had gotten the floors cleared, but no one bothered with the overhead shelves. Due to limited space on the truck, I had to make other arrangements to move my couch, 2 living room chairs, and my bed. Once we got to the new place, they ignored the room labels and simply piled everything I own in the middle of living rm/kitchen. Instead of using the rest of my weekend to unpack, it took me TWO WEEKS to dig out, distribute, and get stuff put away. I made several trips back to my old apartment to clean out the closets and rescue other stuff that I discovered. I paid another $900 to have those last 4 pieces of furniture carted out and donated. Hire these idiots at your peril.

In the past few months, as I went through this process, spending many hours at my unit, I got to know Dan, one of the managers @ NWS St johns A couple of things I did come to know about this faciality prior to setting out on my minimalist adventure, was is it is extremely clean and maintain on much higher level than other facilities I have units (Did I tell you that I might have a problem letting things go mainly because as soon as I do it seems I always need them.) Additionally, over the three years of my tenancy, and despite only having maybe three or four prior interactions with Dan, I knew my things were secure. He always knew my unit, was on top of it If I forgot to lock it up, locking it up and kindly letting me know that he did Lastly, and this part is a little harder to clearly communicate, his understanding of the neighborhood, community relationships, and real, on time communication, even though it wasn't always what I wanted to hear; lead to great sense of security knowing my things were safe and well-guarded While many years in customer service/relation I don't write reviews near as much as I should (This is my fourth in the past couple of year) NWS in ST Johns is a great value for the service and security you get, in part because of employees like Dan. Strongly Recommend. PZ
