At the time we went during the day, it was pretty quiet. Highly recommend for all hour recreation needs and family friendly too!

I mainly went for the pool today. The change room had those lockers that you punch in a 4 digit code and it saves it and locks it for you. Just remember the code and your locker number. They have the typical 25 meter pool and a kid pool with water jets and beach entry. I seen something called a 'lazy river' which looked like a sort of maze you could meander through, which was kind of interesting. I think these are all salt water. I believe I seen another pool as well that looked shallow, but deeper then the kid pool. Theres a hot tub thats actually pretty large. I seen a steam room but it was closed. Additionally I seen a water slide, as well as 3 tiers of diving boards. Its not too shabby for catching a swim but it would be nice if they had a sauna.

This is a lovely park that feels out of the way if you're coming from Parkdale, because of the way…read moreit's tucked under an industrial area. It's recently been redone, so everything is in great condition. It's got a lot of pathways lined with plants and grassy areas to wander around. While I wouldn't necessarily describe it as a sculpture garden, there are a number of pieces. Since going to art galleries and museums has fallen on a spectrum from impossible to ill-advised, Borden Park's sculptures gave me a chance to see some art while I'm in Edmonton. The centerpiece of Borden Park is the natural swimming pool. Unfortunately, this is closed for the 2020 summer season. More importantly, the washrooms are also closed for the season. If you have a strong bladder and/or are prepared to pop a squat somewhere (there are plenty of trees and bushes for privacy) there are lots of nice picnic areas. You already have hand sanitizer with you, right? There are some very cool looking playground structures, which are open. There are groups of tables of various sizes, some of which are wheelchair accessible, as well as ample grounds for picnics while conforming to social distancing guidelines. There's a save-on-foods on the other side of the parking lot in case you don't want to carry picnic foods from home.

The park itself is nice. Lots of space so everyone can have room to themselves. Worst part of the…read morepark is the pool. Very unorganized, you have to get up and leave at the end of every session, there's no clear instructions as to how you line up. A big mix of people who booked a spot and drop-in swimmers but no way to efficiently sort them. So it's slow for people who have a spot booked, and frustrating standing in line.

I've only been to this city of Edmonton recreation facility once for a private booking (birthday…read moreparty) but it was an excellent location for it. As usual the lifeguards were great. The pool is constructed to be used for people who have mobility needs among other kinds of disabilities and while the facility is old (you can see the time period wherein it was constructed reflected in the way that the building is set up), it is well maintained and certainly recently renovated. I was quite happy with the pool itself which was reasonably warm, large and inviting. The hot tub isn't as warm as other pools though so that was a bit less than ideal. I liked the set up of the space and the room that we booked for the party was huge and very convenient afterward. It is a bit out of the way (probably requires driving from many areas of town) but there's lots of parking and it is in a beautiful park area.

It has a ramp to enter the pool and has cranes to lift people in and out of the pool who require help. I have participated in recreational swim and aquasize classes here which is so nice because it is so warm! One down side is the pool is EXTREMELY chlorinated. When I inquired once, I was told that it's is because of the clientelle they service - again, I think this is referencing those with special needs. There is an old fashioned step ladder slide for children to slide into the deep end but no real other play structures. If you get cold in swimming pools, you will be a fan of this place!

Oh gosh my family finally visited this recreation centre to use the pool (including the waterslide…read moreand the shallow areas with a toddler) and it really was a great experience. Due to capacity limits our friends were unable to join us and so we'll have to try again another time to go with friends but this first experience for a public swim was excellent! The toddler really loved the shark shaped flotation device to ride and the waterslide was a hit all around. The little kid slide was good too though it ended in deeper water than the toddler was used to... it was still enjoyable! The pool was very busy which was a bit overwhelming due to the pandemic. The other fitness areas looked good from afar. The family change room was great though the first locker we tried to use didn't work so we had to try another locker to secure our belongings. I liked the fact that the family change room had everyone change in change rooms which is great -- and it really wasn't a family change room but rather an all-gender/all-abilities change room for the pool which is a refreshing change! Having the lockers be free was great too! And the shower was okay. All in all the this changing facility seemed a bit too busy too but otherwise was just fine. I liked the hot tub and the slide. This facility is reasonably well situated for transit accessibility. Parking is tight but there's a great map for alternate areas if the lot is too busy. We'll be back for more community swims... and possibly for more eventually!

The in-water climbing wall is interesting, if a little odd. Pool is divided into kids' shallower pool with a few spray features and another for lane swimming, which is probably a good choice. The fitness equipment has moved upstairs, and the running track is suspended over the indoor soccer fields, which given the noise level there will mean runners will not be having any zen running experiences. Or their ipods will be cranked up high. There are a couple of multipurpose rooms right off the entrance area - one set up as toddler play room and another with tables and chairs which will undoubtedly host hundreds of birthday parties a year. The parking lot is quite small so when there are two soccer games on it will be crowded. All in all a very nice upgrade to the neighbourhood.
