Open space and lots of dogs

I love this dog park so much! Its centrally located, very large, well maintained, always active with other dogs and best of all its COMPLETELY FREE! There are several reason why I go and I high recommend you try this dog park. I love that there are several dog waste stations strategically placed throughout the park. There are also water fountains for you and your puppy, a puppy pool, and water hose. There is also a separate section for small dogs or you can bring them over to the main dog area. Please keep in mind, that if it has rained with in the last 3 days, the dog park can be pretty muddy and at times flooded in some sections. For the most part it doesn't stop me from bring my Chloe out there but bring a towel just in case. The dogs tend to love to play in the mud.

This is the very best dog park I have ever been to! It is pretty and large. Well maintained with hoses and water to boot! My Ratties loved it! Sofia even used the pool and she never does that!

There is free parking with bathrooms and water fountain on site. We went in the morning when there were a few people and the ground keeper. The ground keeper told us how he keeps a good eye on the park so there is no drinking or drugs so its a good environment for children. He also said the park was 8 acers, but we only walked a few of the acers. The park includes a walking path around a large pond, a dog park, and a playground for kids. Along the one side of the walking path is a bridge with unique fencing along a canal. We noticed the canal water was high and was leaking under the bridge onto the ground into the pond so they blocked off the one end of the bridge. There is a big monument with a statue of a women with children donate to commemorate the women during the Civil War which I thought was a sweet way to thank our mothers. The park is well kept and there is a rose archway. The playground has many fun things to do and is in great condition. Next to the park is a Masonic Center with Egyptian Artwork on the outside which was cool to see in addition. The park isn't surrounded by restaurants, shops, and other city attractions. There are different rules for the pond area, dog area, and the playground so make sure to read those before planning an activity.

    Bella running her heart out!

This is a really great, public (and therefore free), overall clean dog park! Will be coming back weekly! Perfect for our lab who lives in an apartment. She had plenty of room, and lots of new friends!

    I'm ready to play

I'm going to be very honest, Springfield has a bad rap for being unsafe.

You must register your pup(s) with signed copy…read moreof vaccination records and pay for membership at Atlantic Beach City Hall, which for one year is less than $100... We have been members for years. It's a great dog park, especially when it's hot out...because the pups can cool off in the water at their leisure. Water seems to be safe, as mine swim often and even drink it with no issues. My only complaint, and it's more so my own dog's fault, are the trees. Twice now, dogs running and playing (not paying attention), have inadvertently ran into trees. Luckily no broken bones yet. The trees do provide shade, so that's a plus. Also, I don't like that the dogs have access to a higher area on one side of the park, that's like a 6 ft wall they like to jump from. It has gates on either side but doesn't efficiently keep the dogs from getting up there. The entrance/exit area has a water hose to bathe your furry friends when they're done wrestling each other in the mud. Pro tip* don't wear your good shoes to this park...and don't wear any clothing you don't want dirty...some pups like to say hi and jump on the humans even when they're wet and dirty. It is after all, a dog park. I've seen a couple people get really upset that a dog got them dirty... You can bring balls, frisbees, chuck-its. My girl loves the frisbee. Sometimes she likes to take other's frisbees, and sometimes her's gets taken. So, we try to keep extras. There are usually tennis balls all around the park and in the water... There are no Rufarees or people there managing the park, just members. So please, if your dog is aggressive and not friendly (big or small), don't bring them to the park.

I feel perfectly safe walking around, it's always clean, lawn manicured, quiet, & landscaped beautifully. The gorgeous old tree in the back by the open field is the true show stopper. The loop around the park is fairly short, but very pretty. If I had to take a guess on the length, I'd say it's half a mile long or a little less. It's the perfect length for dog walking on these hot summer days.

Alexandria Oaks Park is perfect for a large group playing frisbee, the loner with a good book, or a play park for the pups. Tips -- parking on North and South end, doggie bags available, massive greenway, basic walk path, rec leagues play here occasionally. When I first moved to San Marco, my kickball league used to play here on Sundays. The greenway that expands from the South to North end of the park is big enough for a music festival. Even if noise or crowds aren't your thing, there's plenty of room on the greenway for you to get some peace and quiet on your blanket. Hey, have I mentioned I have a new dog? Yeah, yeah. Well, we took her here for a play date yesterday and it was great. She had enough room to roam around, meet other dogs, and play until she was short of breath. I expect more frequent visits to Alexandria Oaks Park in the future.
