Cake slice was absolutely delicious, but pricey. Eclair tasted like the refrigerator and we threw it out. Wasn't worth it. But the real issue is the lack of politeness we received. When asking a question if they had anything similar to Black Forest cake, we were told "we don't have anything like that" with a pretty rude tone. Of course, recommendations are appreciated similar, but it is cherry/chocolate. And they had plenty of chocolate cakes. Just recommend something else, no need for the nasty attitude. Went here to buy a cake for my moms birthday and got to say, the cake was amazing we got the Double Chocolate Cake and was not disappointed on the size or flavor. Can run a little pricey so be wear of your budget, but the service was quick and have no complaints. read more

My daughter graduated from ECU yesterday. She had ordered a cake from another bakery in town. When she went to pick it up on Thursday she discovered an absolutely horrible cake that I wasn't what she ordered at all. I found confection connection and explained the situation. I called Thursday to order a yellow cake with chocolate icing for my sister. The cake was not yellow. The bakery charged $75 for a QUARTER sheet cake. And they required immediate payment, so I gave it. About an hour later, I decided against it bc the cake was so simple and not worth that price at all. The person told me that they have a "No Refund" Policy. Because of course they do. She said the only person that could offer me a refund would be an owner called Tim. I asked when the person would be in, and her reply was just as laughable. "He's in and out." So. They can't refund a purchase an hour after it's made, and they are indifferent about even trying to help solve a customer complaint. So. I asked for it to be completed by 11. My sister arrived 15 minutes after the fact, and it was still not ready. So, I paid an egregious amount for a cake that was not what I wanted, and that was also late being finished. Case and point: if I spend $107 on a QUARTER SHEET CAKE, then the customer service and quality should compliment the pricing, and it DOES NOT. As a result, I will not be going back, and I'll be sure to leave reviews on other sites so that people know what they're getting into before they order. The cake was....okay? It was dry. The icing was fine. I'm not huge on sweets, but my partner is, and I for once, was actually craving something sweet. We walked in and they were helping out two customers. Kind of looks and reminds me of a subway layout. But they got back to us and we're friendly. We got a slice of carrot cake and a lemon bar. Carrot Cake: 4.5/5 The carrot cake was D E C A D E N T but delicious. It had walnuts and thick layer of cream cheese frosting. I'm not one for a lot of frosting so I scraped some off but the cake was nice and moist. Not too sweet, and with just the right amount of scraped off frosting, was delicious. It was one of the best tasting carrot cakes I had. And they give huge slices. Lemon Bar: 3/5 The lemon bar was huge but what it had in size, lacked in flavor. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. It had a very sticky and chewy consistency but lacked a bit of lemon. Maybe just a hint more and it would have been top tier. read more

The front staff member who took our order and answered our questions was friendly enough (though she didn't seem completely fluent on the menu itself), but she had a good attitude so that heIped to some extent. I guess imagined I would have more confectionary options, and that lunch items would include freshly baked bread sort of options and so forth...so my expectations might have been set a bit too high I think. Searched for a pastry slash dessert shop in town since there's no Cheesecake Factory here. Boo. This place have different flavored cakes, cupcakes, sweet bars and a beverage station - coffee, sweet tea and other drinks. We got the chocolate cake - one slice was massive for two people. Two cupcakes would have been ideal for 2 people as it wouldn't be too filling. But the cake lasted for 3 days when we took it home. Chocolate cake was moist and soft. I have been here a few times and each time there has been an issue. The food has been good, but the first time I went the customer service was terrible. I ordered a small cake two days prior to pick up and when I arrived at the pre-appointed pick up time I had to wait another half hour. But, what has me writing this review now is the latest visit. I ordered three dozen cookies and at the time they told me $18 per dozen. Which seems extremely expensive for cookies. But, I was in desperate need for them so I decided to pay it. On the phone I was asked if I wanted a special box and I replied no. I'm just taking them to a friend's house. She said okay I'll just put them in a pink box. We hung up and that was that. 6 hours later I drop by to pick them up and they have charged me FOUR dollars extra for a pink cardboard box!!! This is on top of their already ridiculous price of $18/dozen. When I asked about them charging for the box the reply was oh I thought she told you it says pink box on the order. When I relayed my experience to her she said oh I'm sorry. With no offer the forgo the charge. Then I asked what do you put them in if not a box. And she said oh we put them in a bag. This is ridiculous. I've never heard of a store charging you for a container. They don't charge extra for the box the cake or cupcakes come in. So even though the good is fairly good I don't think I'll be returning. Which is sad, but I'm not paying almost $70 for 36 cookies & a cardboard box. I almost walked out at that point. We tried the cookie dough cake, and the lemon and also the Reese's cake and fudge and some kind of pecan dessert and something coconut and a pumpkin muffin. There wasn't much of a variety of desserts to choose from when I went. Highly disappointed. We purchased 1 chocolate covered cherry, some crunchy thing covered in pecans, a cupcake, a Naked drink, and whatever that thing is in my picture. The total price for all of this was somewhere around $25, which is completely ridiculous. Of course, when I'm forced to pay extra, Im going to raise my standards. Unfortunately, everything was BASIC! The cupcake wasn't spectacular, the thing I ordered got unappetizing after the first bite, and the pecan crumble was okay (no more, no less). You can't really screw up a chocolate covered cherry. The price for it was ridiculous though. Clearly, they over-charge for their mediocre desserts. Im not eating here again for sure. First and last time. TL:DR - Worth a visit for courteous staff and quality lunch/dessert, but with small proportions at a boutique price. I've visited Confection Connections twice. Once, about six months ago, when I experienced much of the same negative reviews as previously mentioned (low quality lunch items, confusing atmosphere, etc). And again today where I experience a solid improvement on their offerings. This time I noticed some minor issues: a lack of signage on anything, no flavor descriptions on cupcakes or other desserts, no prices. There seemed to be a frozen yogurt station to the left of the counter but there was no signage or cups around it so I didn't know if it was working or how to go about it. What looked to be an empty buffet station was also near the yogurt station which further made me wonder if that area was just storage or actually open. Again, all of these are just minor issues but were, nonetheless, my first impressions and could be easily fixed with signage. The lady behind the counter was courteous and explained to me the various flavors and prices of desserts. She even helped me pick out a lunch item based on her recommendations. Wonderful. So I ended up with a small Southwest Chicken Wrap and a Red Velvet cupcake. Now, this is where you have to realize Confection Connection is located in Arlington Village, one of Greenville's "boutique" shopping centers, and you should expect boutique prices and proportions. So this small wrap, slightly larger than an eggrolll, was $4.99 without a side or drink (see picture); however, it was made to order, served pipping hot, and was delicious. I'd get it again. The Red Velvet cupcake is a little harder to review. At $3.25 for a regular, which is the size of a cupcake you'd make at home, I found it to be a little steep. The cupcake was certainly top-notch, so moist I thought it almost felt wet, but with Your Perfect Cake less than a mile away and offering their equally-as-delicious oversized cupcakes for $2.25 (I called and asked, just to make sure) - Confection Connection will have a tough time competing at the price point of $5 for their oversized cupcake. That is, unless you look at it from the "boutique" price point. So, after two visits, I think Confection Connection really just has a hard time identifying itself to the public. You've got a place that does a lot of things well (lunch, desserts, shakes, yogurt...maybe?) but not well enough to help the public identify what makes you better that your competitors. In Greenville, a city oversaturated with restaurants, dessert eateries, and frozen yogurt shops, you need to define what you do or your business just mixes in with all the clutter. read more

In true Soup Nazi fashion... food is delish. Desserts, are delectible. Chicken salad is out of this world. I've only eaten there about 3 times, and it has yet to disappoint in the taste department. Customer service is not so much. And by that, I mean consistantly terrible. And in case you're sitting there thinking, "well maybe this reviewer is just one of those whiny type gals..." I have yet to find anyone who had a positive service experience there. Most recently, I stopped by to get food before going next door to paint some pottery. As I walked up, a guy at the open door pointed to a hand-written sign on the window stating that they would be closing early. I said, "Oh no! I was hoping to grab something." He shook his head "no," closed the door, and i heard the lock mechanism click. Alrighty then. The kicker is that about 20 minutes later, another woman walked into the pottery place with a to-go plate... from CC!?! She told us that she saw the sign on the door but she walked in anyways, they served her briskly, and then quickly locked the door behind her. Another time, a friend told me he stopped in for lunch. He asked the cashier if the owner was there (he knows her from around town). The cashier got his name, disappeared into the back, and returned with a frown, "she's here, but sorry, she's just too busy talk." He was the only customer in the place at the time. Klassy move. Visiting my cousin and his wife this weekend in Greenville, we were trying to decide where to have breakfast on Sunday. They thought about this place because it's have good french toast. Unfortunately though, they are closed on Sunday, bummer! So I decided I would try and go on Monday and check this place out. What is it with actual restaurants that stop serving breakfast around 11 or even 10:30. I'd love to go somewhere other than Waffle House or IHOP and have a nice sit-down breakfast. YELP is the way I go now to check out local places in the city I happen to be in at the time. So maybe it's my fault that I wanted breakfast around noon on my chill weekend, but still. The decor was nothing too special. The banner above the checkout was nice. Since I couldn't get breakfast I ordered a half Pastrami and Swiss. I wanted to maybe try something sweet too since it's a bakery. They had Pecan Turtles that look like an actual turtle, super cute! They were $2.99 for one, I thought that was crazy. Also the lady at the register had never had one so she couldn't say whether they were good or not. So needless to say that cute little turtle stayed right in the fridge display. When I got my half sandwich, my first thought was like, "really, what is this?" (see picture). I'm used to the thick pastrami that I can barely get my mouth around. The Swiss cheese was barely there too. However, to my surprise the sandwich was pretty good. I wanted more after I ate it. Granted I have had better Pastrami and Swiss sandwiched but this one was good. I would get it again. The sauce that was on it was really good. It came out super hot too, I had to let it cool off. So all in all my experience was okay. I definitely want to go back to try the French Toast. So stay tuned for that updated review. I really don't mind the prices, for starters I appreciate the product I am getting so I don't mind paying for it and second HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF THE SLICES?! It's clear that whom ever is making those cakes in that magical room back there loves their craft. My birthday is up at the end of the month and I plan to make sure my husband is getting my cake from here and when my family gets in town for my birthday I plan to bring them all down so they can try their favorite cake as well. Again, no suggestions...I got a blank stare from the "nice" lady and so! In an attempt to figure this place out, I looked up to the "menu". Crazy! I saw soup and spaghetti. So, why confection connection? Is it because Olive Garden was taken? So with that, I ordered one pecan pie bar. When she said it would cost $5, I was amazed.
