I really like this place. Inside is absolutely beautiful. Their food is good and the servers are all really nice. The service can be slow since there are only a few people working there. Just be prepared to enjoy each other's company while you wait for your food which is okay. They have an outside seating area underneath the trees which is well done. I'm so glad that they have upgraded the surrounding area and this is a destination point inside of the Greenville City Limits. Don't sleep on this place since they do things correctly. I arrived about 8:30pm on 7/16/22 with my bf. They close at 9, but I already knew what I wanted. My good friend, Quan, is the executive chef here. This is a BOB - Black Owned Business! At night, Coffee & Spice stands out from the road due to the beautiful string lighting in the patio area. The parking lot is behind the restaurant. The sidewalk from parking lot will take to you to the patio seating if you go left and to the restaurant if you go right. Upon arrival, we asked to be seated outside because the weather was nice and I was making a call; it was a bit noisy inside. We waited outside for about 5 minutes for the waitress to come back and get seated. She brought 2 waters. After being seated, I ordered candied yams as an app. It took about 10 minutes to arrive. The candied yams, which comes on top a buttermilk biscuit, was tasty! I think my only complaint would be that there was inconsistency in taste. To add, I wish there was more bacon throughout as it really balances out the the other sweet flavors, in my opinion. Or maybe I'm just a bacon lover and wanted to have some of the bacon flavor with each bite. Nonetheless, I ended up eating it by myself bc my bf didn't like it. When I made Exec Chef Quan aware, he said others have said the same thing but opted not to because of the fat back already utilized and its essentially meant to be on the sweeter side, which I understand. Around 8:40pm, I ordered a strawberry lemon drop (alcoholic beverage) and the Crispy Turkey Wing. I got regular honey instead of the hot honey, because I'm not a fan of spicy food. My bf ordered a Mule and the Turkey wing also. The drinks came out about 5-7 min later after ordering. The strawberry lemon drop was DELIGHTFUL! My bf enjoyed his mule. The food came around 9:03pm. The Turkey wing was crispy and delicious. I think the grains that it came with needed some salt, but my bf said it's because I didn't get the sauce and the sauce added flavor. It looked nutritious and didn't taste bad. It could just be my palate, lol. We ended up going inside because of bugs, which is a part of nature and is to be expected. However, once inside, our waitress never checked on us and another waiter finished taking care of us for the evening. I will note that I did feel slightly rushed at the end. The waiter asked if he wanted dessert after he brought our boxes but he also had the bill in hand. What if I said yes? Why not wait to know for sure or ask if we're ready for the bill? To be transparent and impartial, our initial waitress was Alisha. I found out towards the end of my visit that Alisha is also one of the owners. While my experience, overall, was one of no major complaints, I did not like the lack of communication regarding who would be taking care of us. With it being the end of the night and/or having other obligations, I can understand needing to do other stuff. However, I feel it would only be "right" to say she's the owner, has things to do, and introduced the person who would taking care of us. In reflecting, she never introduced herself at all in the beginning, which should be a standard, even without mentioning that she's the owner. In my experience, owners who are present check in on customers to check in and to receive feedback, positive or negative. Nonetheless, teamwork was executed flawlessly. We never went without. Quan assisted us in the transition inside. I MUST add that another waitress, "Icy", was on point! While we were outside, I could tell she was working her ass off. I must give her praise! On Several occasions, she checked on us asking if we were good from the time we were standing waiting to be seated, all the way to bringing out our entrees. I frequently saw her running back and forth from outside to inside. Her dedication to providing the best customer service was highly exemplified! Inside, there are about 9 indoor tables plus a bar area that faces outside. The inside tables had lit candles on them them, which contributed greatly to the ambiance of the restaurant. There are two bathrooms feature barn doors and are gender neutral. Upon walking it, the aroma was pleasant. I then noticed a lit candle. One bathroom has a frame with 4 deeds on it. I inquired about the significance and Alisha stated it was the deed to the house and went on to explain the history of the home and the items on the wall. It's a great story that I recommend inquiring about! Overall, the restaurant is ravishing. I loved the decor, especially the aromas with the candles. The food was delectable. Customer service, overall, was satisfactory with teamwork being a highlight. I love that the menu changes regularly, with only a few items that remain constant. There will always be something new to try! For an app, two entrees, and two alcoholic beverages, it was about $60. If you haven't already, stop by and give them a try! read more

Wow! Now, I expected this place to be pretty good based off the reviews and just because driving by, you can see the effort they've put into the exterior, but friend, let me tell you! This exceeded all expectations! By a lot!! I tasted a cortado and a golden tea - both were flavorful and rich and delightful. Since it was brunch time, me and the lady ordered some food. I got their C + S Burger and I'm telling you...top 5 burgers I've had! I'm saying, on par with Bull City in Durham and some fancy places I've been to out West! What an oasis in West Greenville! I have been here several times and I'm quite impressed. It's obvious the owners care about their business and patrons having a good experience. Ambience is laid back and very welcoming. Inside is very clean. Outside is very well taken care of. I haven't had a chance to sit in the garden area outside but it looks so peaceful and calm. I can't wait to have some drinks and a meal out there. I've had the Mocha Latte (with nutmeg..yum!!!) and Dulce de Leche Latte to drink as well as an omelette and the chocolate cupcakes. The drinks and food all are just great! The chocolate cupcakes are not as sweet as you would think and frankly they don't need to be. I'd suggest pairing the cupcake (warmed) with a latte. Be prepared to wait a little longer than usual for a latte because they take their time and care when making it. It's worth the wait! I really hope Coffee and Spice does well!! read more

The reviews don't lie. My wife and I took our daughter out for brunch here after reading the stellar reviews. They both had the Challah French toast, which came with thick cut bacon, cinnamon butter, real maple syrup and a healthy portion of eggs. They raved about it, and were kind enough to share. Perfectly done, absolutely delicious. Both the French toast and the eggs. I ordered the burger with homemade slaw, onion jam and fresh cut fries. The burger was great, but the fries stole the show. Every single fry was perfectly crisp with a blend of fresh cracked petter and sea salt. I don't say these words cavalierly- might be the best fries I've ever had. Choose from the very cute, well decorated interior, or the relaxing, treed outdoor space. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will make this a regular stop whenever we visit! read more

The food is homemade which is really good and fresh , even down to the ketchup (they also have Heinz ). It's a black owned business by a really sweet owner. She checked up on us along with our waiter. It's a very clean spot for coffee and chatting , also just hanging out. The bathrooms are very clean and spacious. I recommend going here. read more

Came here with my sister-in-law and ordered the chicken and waffles while she ordered the French toast. My dish was lovely - a generous chicken breast and some incredibly tasty maple syrup and pear compote were the highlights for me. I was able to taste my sister-in-law's French toast after she was full - it was also very good and unlike other French toast I've had. The caramelized edges were a nice treat and the airy volume of the huge pieces of toast allowed it to crumble in my mouth in a way that all of the flavors evenly coated my tongue. Service was friendly and accommodating to my sister-in-law's baby, and the atmosphere was clean and cozy. At the end of the meal the chef came out to ask how we enjoyed it. Nestled in small local community with great ambiance and amazing service by Zen and Will! The omelette was fluffy and light, it transported me back to Paris. Loved my iced latte with cinnamon and cardamom. We were finally able to have lunch at Coffee + Spice yesterday. The owners have done an amazing job creating a modern aesthetic in this building that was built at the turn of the century. It is gorgeous! The teas were like nothing we had before. We can't wait to come back and try more. Shrimp and grits? THE best in Greenville! The fall salad was perfect with it's peach vinaigrette dressing. The C+S burger with its homemade sweet potato bun looked SO good...we may go back for lunch again today!!! read more

If I could give this place 10 starts I would. Breaking it down based on my experience today: Food - I've only been once, but their duck + cornbread waffle were amazing! The waffle itself is seasoned beautifully with very subtle sweet notes, crispy on the outside, but nice and fluffy on the inside. on the side there's a nice cream, it's the right amount of sweet, light, and well spiced. The duck itself had a nice crispy skin and was beautifully cooked, very nice and tender. Coffee - I ordered the Cardamom + Cinnamon Latte (I got mine Iced) and it was very refreshing. Elegant flavors and you can genuinely taste the notes of cardamom and cinnamon individually, yet they blend together to create a harmony of flavors. I'm a dental student, so caffeine is a large part of my diet lol and I can easily say that I won't be going to Starbucks anymore. Atmosphere - We sat in their cute outdoor seating area. It's a gorgeous little spot with beautiful lights, trees, fireplace, and seating. Service - This place is the embodiment of what a family owned - local restaurant should be like. You can tell the owners and employees truly have a passion and love for this restaurant. The owner comes out and sees how you're doing and actually interacts with the customers, a huge plus. - We came here during our lunch break, so we were in our scrubs and they recognized that we were in a rush and had to get back to school/clinic asap, to which they tried their best to get all the food out quickly. That being said, we were a party of 7, which is no easy task. we weren't able to get all our food by the time we had to go, so the owner comped it all and said "don't worry about it, it's on us" and gave us the remaining food to-go and also gave us chocolate cake to take with us. He really didn't have to do that, we were more than willing to pay because we genuinely loved the food, but he was still kind enough to do that for us with such a large party. He mentioned this place was his daughters dream and with their wonderful personalities, service, and food, they were able to make that dream come true. Hands down my favorite spot in Greenville and I can easily say I'll be back here a few times a week. Thank you to the owner, the chef, and the staff, it was truly a wonderful experience and I can't wait to tell my friends about this spot. read more
