Someone who gives Coney Island a bad review is either shilling for another restaurant in town or out of their d*** mind. I'm not saying everyone has to love it. But I certainly do. It may not be the absolute best burger in the world, (and they don't claim to be) but it happens to be delicious, crave-inducing, undeniably unique for 50+years, and absolutely irreplaceable. If Coney Island closed its doors, I would weep. And there is no other restaurant that I could say that about. It is consistent and no, it has not changed. Even when the ownership changed hands, the consistency remained. You could cook anything on that flat top grill and it's gonna taste like Coney Island. I understand the younger generation that grew up eating box mac & cheese every day of their life (and still does) may not understand why it's good. But I just don't care. It is good. And it is great. Our pet sitter lives in Crestview and we had heard about this joint from a few folks who grew up there. Decided one day when we dropped our dog off we had to stop and see! So glad we did! It's nothing more than a tiny little shack that serves very inexpensive food and they make no bones about what they are. I had the Wednesday lunch special of a double cheeseburger, chips and a drink. I asked for no sauce on the burger and they had no issue with my request. The burger was delicious but next time I'll ask for an additional slice of cheese as it just needs another slice. Quality beef and great flavor! No brioche bun or pickles, not even lettuce. I took off a star as no fries and no inside seating. You order your food from a side window, which is fine except I was hoping to sit inside and it wasn't open. Had to eat in the car. read more

This is one of those spots that make you glad you turned off the main road. The dogs and the burgers took you back to a simpler time. Lifelong fan of this establishment--both the hot dogs and hamburgers. Has lost a lot of the ambience since Covid (presumably) closed the seating area, but I still visit multiple times per year. Glad they moved to plastic bags--that was my only complaint from years past because the paper sacks would leak onto floor mats. I appreciate restaurants who do one thing and do it well. You can't be in the Crestview area without a stop at Coney Island. I've been here many times over the last 10-12 years and always leave a happy customer. Coney Island burgers also have a rare quality in that if you get them to go and eat them about 10-15 minutes later they actually taste totally different (in a good way). The secret is in the sauce for sure. If you're anywhere near Crestview, Coney Island is a must. The staff is always friendly and make you feel welcome each and every time! As a previous reviewer posted, this isn't a sit down to order kind of place. Just like burger joints of olden days, you order at the counter. There are no "servers". ABSOLUTELY the worst hot dogs we have ever had BAR NONE, almost inedible, PLUS neither hot dog was as we ordered. We both took one bite and then threw them out. Coney Island is still in the same place it was the first time I ate there 50 years ago. It was love at first bite! We have made it one of the "must stop" places on our trips home. Naturally the prices have changed over the years, but the service and quality haven't....both are excellent! If you live in Crestview and haven't tried their burgers and dogs, what are you waiting for? The dogs (and buns) are steamed to perfection. The burgers are cooked on a flat grill and topped with their trademark Coney sauce while still on the grill so that the flavor cooks in. The recipe for the Coney sauce has to be one of the most closely guarded secrets on Okaloosa County! I've tried, but I cannot duplicate it. Coney Island has been around for over 60 years, and I can't believe that I'm the first to give it a review. It's not often to find freshly ground beef burgers cooked on a flat-top on the Gulf Coast, but that's what you get here. They steam onions and mustard on the meat, and top with chili. The buns are steamed, so the whole burger is soft and the flavor is better than anything I can think of. The burgers are thin, which is great for more griddled surface area. I've been coming here since 1992. It's tiny and an old restaurant. They've been making their burgers and hot dogs the same way since then...and probably before that. They put mustard and onions and chili on everything unless you specify otherwise. They got Yoohoo, Grapico, Mountain Dew, and 3-4 other drinks. My regular is a hot dog and burger all the way, and a drink. I've never been disappointed. They probably aren't the healthiest food items on the planet, but they are tasty. Like the sign says "You get it our way or You don't get a damn thing." I would also give this place no stars. First of all, my family and I arrived and sat in a booth. No-one approached us. The cooks definitely made eye contact with us. Then after 5-10 minutes, no one still came by to take an order. Then, a couple arrived and went to the counter and sat down.....the cooks immediately asked, "what can I get for you?"
