Adding a star because I would have had to pay hundreds more to go overseas using Lufthansa or Delta and KLM (greedy!). Also, Delta had removed some of their nonstop to Europe flights at the time including Amsterdam, and their alternatives were pretty bad, this was the best option. I was initially glad I discovered this airline. This was one of three legs I was traveling, 10.5 hours of fun on this leg alone lol. So prior to traveling, Condor switched my inbound flight. What they did was remove my flight all together and merge me into an existing flight that cost $40 less. I knew this because I had debated a long time if I wanted to pay $40 extra, or save money for an additional 2 hours to my existing 2 hour layover. I decided I would, and yet they refused to refund me for downgrading my flight when mine was removed from their itinerary! When I was on their website, a 50% off luggage coupon popped up. I screenshot it immediately before it went away. But there was no place to put a promo code for luggage online. So I called them. They said it can only be done in person. Guess what happened when I tried in person? They denied me saying it should have been done prior to arriving at the airport. I called Condor on the spot and they said it had to be in person, they heard this call but, said they could not. Yes they could. Instead of charging me $120 each way, charge me $60. It was so frustrating what they did to me! The food was not good, yet people all around me ate like this was the best meal ever! But apparently there are 2 more levels of food quality above the cheapest option, I didn't select those so I guess that's on me because I put saving over food quality. One of the flight attendants did something shady. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for flight staff, especially during the pandemic. But that doesn't make it OK to do what she did.... So as soon as I boarded, everyone went to seats that were not their own. This resulted in a dozen people all around me, with 3 seats to themselves. THREE! I on the other hand waited till everyone was seated to see what, if anything, was available. Everyone else that didn't have 3 seats, had 2 seats to themselves. Myself and the person next to me were the only 2 people who had NO extra seat. I asked one of the flight attendants if I may move to a particular open area in the back so I may lay down for this 10.5 hour flight. She said it was OK, it was the upper left back side of the cabin. As soon as I sat down, I got scolded and was made to go back to my seat by another FA who didn't care I was given permission, she said those seats were for them. There were 3 FA's in 2nd class, but she was protecting NINE seats in the back!? Nor do they all break at the same time. Halfway through the flight, I actually saw a passenger sprawled out in the back 3 middle seats that everyone knows is for the staffs personal belongings, which were there earlier. No one took issue with that, not sure how she managed that, but the 9 seats that normally aren't all for staff was somehow an issue. It was a long flight home for me my friends.... When I mentioned this to the airline, they just said I should have bought more seats. Yeah, because the 3 seat people all bought their extra seats....NOT! They even said, maybe they all bought that many seats. Yeah ummmm....No lol. I even spoke with 2 of them and they just boasted about their abilities to grab seats fast, these were not their assigned seats. The following year my parents used Condor for the exact same flight. My dad had paid an extra $120 each way for mom to be in the emergency exit. Well, coming back she didn't get it. They gave it to someone else and had assigned her ANOTHER tiny seat! They would not listen to my dad and later customer service also did not care, saying they only paid to select a seat, but not that particular seat. Not. True. The other seats were less expensive. They would never pay extra solely to choose a specific seat in 2nd class since they're all the same, if it was not an emergency seat with more leg room. I attempted to book a flight on Condor's website. After going through the entire process, I received an error message in the end saying the flight could not be booked. Due to a glitch in their system, despite not issuing a ticket, Condor charged my credit card. Days later Condor reversed the erroneous credit card charge, but at a lower dollar amount due to EUR/USD exchange rate fluctuations. Since this was a case where Condor never should have charged my credit card to begin with, I should not have to be responsible for an exchange rate difference resulting from Condor's error. Condor's customer service was very flippant about the issue and also refused to provide information to the credit card issuer after I filed a claim. read more

Worst airline experience EVER!!!! Condor cancelled our Alaska Airline flight after they couldn't figure out how to process passports or tickets out of Frankfurt! Due to my changing seats, because the seats are ridiculously cramped, we were able to "rebook" ourselves into the flight, but at least 20 others were not able to do so! They had flights scheduled for them for 6 AM the next morning - no hotel vouchers, no food vouchers, NOTHING to help the people they screwed over!! Do NOT fly Condor!! read more

Worse airline I ever flew with!!! Food is horrible!!! Same food was posted 2 years ago. Everything for extra cost like headphones, snacks, alcohol beverages. I flew with Lufthansa and I though that their partners should be good too- HELL NO! I don't even understand why Lufthansa work with them. Food looks like for homeless and doesn't taste at all. Very disappointing experience traveling to Europe with this airline. The initial booking was easy as we had a connecting domestic flight via Alaskan Airlines and then another one connecting to Lufthansa once we landed in Germany. 24 hours before our Condor flight I still did not receive anything via e-mail from for check in or a reminder that a flight is coming up. So I had to call in and wait on hold for a bit but the Condor rep told me that we can get our boarding pass at the Alaskan airlines counter the day of our flight, so we did. When it came time for our connecting flight at Portland airport everything went to hell in a hand basket. Issue #1: Instead of boarding by a range of seat numbers, they let all of economy class rush up there all at once. It was a free for all I tell you, good thing I had assigned seating!?! Issue #2: While in line to get onto Condor flight, they rejected about 60% of the boarding passes for all passengers because the boarding pass wasn't a blue condor one, it was a green one that was given to us at SFO airport as no instructions on whether we would need to go exchange it for a blue one once arriving in Portland Condor check-in desk. I mean all passengers were sitting in the Gate area for 1-2 hours while all these random announcements were being made but not once did they mention this very important point while we were all sitting there doing nothing. Hence our flight was delayed 30-40 mins trying to swap out everybody's boarding pass. Issue #3: While on board, the flight crew was super stingy. I asked for a cup of water with ice as I was dying of thrist, and he gave me 2 tiny cubes of ice in my water. I was like homeboy "Can I get a few more ice cubes", he replied with "Sorry we don't have much to give out". Nothing like warm water on a 10 hour flight. Issue #4: The plane landed and the jet way connector wasn't ready for our arrival. We had to get shuttled onto a bus in the pissing rain. Dragging luggage down a flight of wet stairs is not the business Also the two buses they provided were super cramped and some old guy kept rubbing up against my butt, I was like look here man "I don't swing the way"!?! I mean there were other things I can get into like poor leg room, mediocre seats, and poor entertainment system but hey that's what I get for booking in economy and not first class. But the 3 main issues I discussed would have happened to me regardless even if I booked Premium or First Class. Safe to say I won't be traveling with these guys again anytime soon!!! read more

BOTTOM LINE: Zero stars DON'T FLY THIS AIRLINE!! Spend the the extra money and safe yourself some grief. Pros: Cheap prices to Europe. On our Business Class fight to Frankfurt the cabin staff was efficient, friendly and helpful. Cons: If there's a problem (and there will be), you will get NO customer service! On our flight we received a flight update that our flight was delayed 24 hours, (it was not a weather related delay). We had to change our connecting flight to Stockholm and pay a premium fee for the late change. This also impacted 2 hotel reservations and the airport Limo service. Almost one hour later we received a "corrected flight update" that the flight would be delayed a little less than 2 hours. We had to again rebook everything and pay a premium price to do so. It took Condor customer service over 4 months to review our claim for reimbursement. In the meantime they repeatedly asked that we be patient because of a "high volume" of calls (what a surprise!). In the end, they refused to do anything, and we were out over $ 5817.00. We could have flown a better airline with less confusion and grief. Don't book with Condor.. you'll be sorry! Condor has low-cost flights to Frankfurt in the summer two times a week. They also have two weekly flights to Seattle on other days. I find it a great way to get to Europe and bank. From Frankfurt you can connect to anywhere in Europe. Be sure to allow enough time in the Frankfurt airport for immigration and transfer to the domestic terminal. Condor does nickel and dime you to death. I find it worthwhile to pay a few bucks extra for the movies (in flight entertainment). A meal upgrade is also worthwhile, as is extra legroom if you're tall. It's still lower cost than other airlines and the planes are new. Also, try to get a flight with Condor at PDX or SEA (not starting with a connecting flight with another airline). That way you get your cross-atlantic ticket faster. If you fly to New York or another airport, you can't get your Condor ticket until you arrive at a Condor-staffed Airport. Other tips: bring your own headphones for the inflight movies--you hear the movie better. You just need a regular audio jack. A few bottles of water are also good. Bring small bills (US Dollars or Euros) to buy in-flight movies or drinks or whatever. Be nice to the flight attendants--that will go a long way :-). I'm so upset-- even after a good night's sleep at home. If you, reader, are tempted by Orbitz or whoever has a lower priced fare to Europe -- just don't, if it involves Condor/ Thomas Cook Airlines. It's not a bargain if you pay $850 RT for a ticket and the long 10 hr leg of the ticket is on Condor because not only can't you sleep, but you can't sit. It's not a SEAT if you can't fit into it. I'm usual sized and 5'8" and I was so squeezed for toe and knee room I almost cried. Several passengers were standing. Take a look at the pics I snapped of our parties' and nearby passengers' maximum leg area. And remember you'll be standing when you're normally asleep because Europe is 9 hrs ahead. Worst flights ever. EVER! I gave them 1 star for having many flight attendants, plentiful beverages, and good pasta. We neither arrived nor departed on time. The other star is for price. Don't buy unless they take out 2 rows of seats which will cost them about $17K per crowded flight. Kudos to them if they listen. read more

I'm conflicted regarding my experience w/Condor. The German airline describes itself as a "recreational" airline and offers low fares to Europe. Condor recently began direct flights from Portland, OR (PDX) to Frankfurt, Germany (FRA). I just completed a round-trip to Paris and this is what I experienced: With less than a month to travel, I found Condor's fares to be significantly lower than any other airline. They did not appear to honor any other frequent flier program, but the more than $500 price differential was the primary reason I decided to book my trip to Paris (connecting through Frankfurt). Condor's online website is not easy to navigate. Even with the English-language option, the user-interface is awkward and non-intuitive. I managed to to find flights and times that worked for me, and my traveling companion and I booked our flights through Condor's website. One important thing to note regarding condor is you must pay extra to reserve a seat in coach class. From PDX to FRA the charge is $39 each way. My companion and I took great care in reserving a window and aisle seat next to each other and each paid $78. Upon completing and paying online for our flights, Condor sent us each a confirmation. Al of the individual charges were published, but they were not itemized. The fee we paid for our seats was listed on the confirmation, but the seat #s were not. Prior to our flight, I attempted to log on to Condor's site to review our reservations and confirm our seats. I am pretty savvy with the "interwebs", but there was no way I could find to pull up on Condor's website any record of my reservation. When I attempted to check-in online the day before my flight, I received a response that said online check-in was unavailable. The only proof that I had that I had a paid reservation with Condor was confirmation email they had sent me. We checked in at the ticket counter in PDX 2 hours before our flight. The Condor ticket agent told us she could not check us in for our connecting flight from FRA to CDG. Our bags would be checked through to our destination, but we would have to check-in a second time with Lufthansa for the 1 hour flight to Paris. Why? For some absurd reason, I did not check our seat assignments. It was only once we boarded that we realized we were sitting in completely different areas of the plane and neither of us were in the seats that we had each paid $39 to reserve. Luckily, a very kind fellow passenger agreed to switch seats with my friend and we were able to sit together for the 11+ hour flight. The cabin was clean and orderly. Flight attendants were courteous and efficient. There was an $11 fee to access TV/movies on the LCD screens available for each each seat, plus an additional charge for earphones, but we had our own. The selection of movies is pretty limited and there was a weird mix of TV shows available. I'm used to flights to Asia and the entertainment on Condor was comparatively weak. Seats are uncomfortably hard. The food was a small notch above your average airline. Condor advertises meal menus and upgrades available on their website, but because of the inability to access my reservation and the sub-standard user-interface, I was not able to select any food options prior to our flight. The beverage cart could make more rounds in my opinion. Knowing how our outbound flight worked out, we were prepared when we checked in at CDG for our return. Again, our flights to/from Frankfurt to Paris were on Lufthansa. This time, the Lufthansa ticket agent assured us she could check us in for both flights and expressed puzzlement as to why the Condor agents at PDX were unable to check us through to our final destination. We made sure that we were seated together and boarded the short flight to Frankfurt. On our way to FRA, I checked our seat assignments for the FRA-PDX portion and found that though we were seated together, I was on the aisle and my companion was in the middle of the row of three; again, not the seats we reserved. At FRA we went immediately to speak to the Condor gate about getting the seats we had paid for. The agent insisted on seeing proof of our reserved seats. I explained that Condor never sent us a confirmation that showed our seats and that our reservations were not available on their website. I showed him the confirmation and what I paid for airfare and additional surcharges and fees, including the seats. This was not good enough, and the agent said that since we could not provide proof of our reserved seats, he could not reassign us. I was not about to leave that ticket counter until we received what we had been charged for. The agent even advised us to call Condor to get a refund! Ha- as if that would ever happen! As more passengers piled up behind us, we were at a standoff. Finally, another agent (who was clearly in charge) reassigned our boarding passes with our seats. Considering Condor? Buyer beware. And create screen shots of every transaction. read more

Avoid Condor Air. Wish we'd read the reviews before jumping on the low-price wagon. Booking was ridiculous and connecting flights with code shares were given to us with impossible times: Connecting flights left well before our arrival. How is that even possible with a computerized scheduling system? Re-booked and was assured that seats for family of 4 were reserved, but alas, nope. Condor systems apparently don't communicate with code share airlines - Lufthansa flight we booked was full by the time Condor got back to us days later. Re-booked on different flights and seats were not reserved even after they confirmed they were. Hoping we make it to our family reunion/vacation in one piece. Haven't even flown yet, but the booking process has been a real pain. Very primitive online booking interface compared to other airlines. Just getting seat assignments has required 5 calls to their service center, and they are still not set. Hopefully the flight will be good, but Deep's review does not bode well. read more

Flight was delayed first time by 19h, then by 12h more. No notifications were sent. At SEA Condor representatives says they are not Condor employees, know nothing, cannot do anything for you in this situation. They offer to stay in hotel until resolution. Avoid! read more

Not sure were to start with this airline. Bad food, bad service, bad flight attendants, old planes. That about sums it up. If you can avoid it, pick another airline to fly to Europe - you will arrive in a much better mood. read more
