I also posted this review to Google, but a week later found it had been taken down. I decided to post here in hopes that all reviews will be made available for prospective customers to see.
I would not recommend Conceive for treatment. At first glance, I found Dr. Escobar nice and was excited to start fertility treatments with him and his team. In hindsight, I should have done much more research and kick myself for the time and money wasted at Conceive.
At no point during my pre-treatment testing were costs discussed, and all I had to go with was a post on IG that quoted $10,500 IVF - that couldn't have been more different from the totals we paid. I now find myself 3 months post retrieval and aware I still owe them money, because they've said I still owe them money, but no matter how many times I reach out for a total I cannot get any more details than they will investigate it, but I never get a follow up.
For our retrieval cycle, we were just looking to bank embryos, but found ourselves the day before retrieval staring down a price that I didn't agree with since it was based on retrieval and transfer and we were only doing a retrieval. In short, we were told we had to pay it to stay on schedule. Post retrieval we then had to fight with the facility to get about 1/2 of that money refunded. They said 2 weeks, I followed up at 4, and then it still took another 2 weeks to get the check. All very sketchy for a "business" to require so much prodding. I'm posting this review in my real name in hopes that SOMEONE at the office will be able to figure out the financials since the current team they have are completely inept.
We also found the embryologists team very difficult to get information out of. At the end of our week wait post retrieval, we found that our embryos were "poor" quality and would be discarded. When I asked for more information about the grading or any details that would help us understand the quality issues and come to terms with having just flushed $15k in treatment down the toilet, they simply told us they do not do grading. Strangely enough, when I finally got my medical records (which was again like pulling teeth) I found that the embryos were graded and there was much more information on the embryologist's report than they were willing to provide over the phone.
After a failed cycle I expected the doctor to want to do a follow up, but I just simply had silence from the office. It very much felt like a bait and switch to get me in the door, and what timing to find out that at the same time they were opening a new office, so perhaps treatment was switched to be on the backburner while that project to create more revenue was in the works.
We have decided to move our treatment to another facility, I called to request my records, and it seems they never have standard procedures. I was told they would be emailed to me, then was called after I emailed them the signed records request, and said I had to pick them up or have them faxed, and that there was a $6.50 charge to get them. I picked them up at the office and found that the last record was that egg retrieval had been done, but nothing from the embryologists, which was what I was most interested in. After 3 emails to the office, and a direct email to the embryologist's office, I finally got that record, via email (even though that was supposed to be allowed per my experience picking up the bulk of the records) with no explanation to the delay.
All in all, I had to advocate for everything on my own and very much felt like a number. I am happy to have a new doctor that is not only working on a personalized treatment plan, but he is also reviewing Dr. Escobar's records so that we can have some sort of follow up from a failed cycle. Steer clear of Conceive - there are other facilities that are going to not only provide you excellent care, but also be able to tell you how much it costs from the start. read more
