She cuts you off when you call to get information and is combative off the bat as if calling in is an inconvenience for her. Mahnaz Mostofi displayed a dismissive and inattentive bedside manner.She exhibited an unwillingness to listen to my medical concerns, refrained from answering questions, and appeared to have preconceived notions that hindered her ability to provide effective care. A fundamental aspect of healthcare is the provision of clear and informative responses to patient questions and concerns. Nurse Practitioner, Mahnaz Mostofi, consistently refused to address my medical concerns, which left me feeling unheard and unsupported as a patient. The conduct and treatment I experienced during my visit at Madewell were below the standard of care that I expect and deserve as a patient. I have been going to this location for several years now. I always find the front desk staff to be super welcoming. The medical staff is very professional, take their time, and explain anything I might ask. The location is conveniently located. Dr. Lawson is the best doctor on the planet. I have had the best experiences with her both for routine care and especially the birth of my daughter. I referred my sister to her and was present at the birth of her three sons and again, an amazing experience. She is an attentive listener who respects that the patient's point of view about their own body is useful information to consider for diagnosis and treatment. **This is a detailed read but I don't know what else to do to make sure others don't experience the unprofessional people in this office** PLEASE READ AND SHARE! If I could give zero stars I would. As a doctors office, I am very disappointed and felt very violated during my last and final visit. I have been visiting the office for about 2 years, visiting about every 6 months. The reason I decided to choose the office was because I realized the head physician was a black woman and as a black woman I wanted to give the office a chance. Upon visiting I realized, the head physician, Dr. Yolanda Lawson was hard to get an appointment with so most of my appointments were done with Dr. Mahnaz Mostofi. Dr. Mostofi has always made me feel uncomfortable, every visit with her she is not comforting, she never looks at me when she speaks and even walked out the door while giving me important information. I was felt like I was not a priority, even though it cost $140 just to visit the office no matter what service is provided. Dr. Mostofi is very rude, and never made me feel comfortable. On July 5th 2023, I knew I would never visit the office again. Upon walking into the office, I knew I had a balance and had to pay for my visit for the day. The receptionist, Agatha, ask me "Do you want to pay now or pay when your visit is finished?" I decided to pay once I'm done, since I was given the option to. I arrived at the office at 4:15pm but was taken back until 5pm, my appointment started at 4:30pm. There was only one other person in the office. Once I was taken to the back my vitals were taken such as my weight, blood pressure etc. The medical assistant then instructed me to undress from the waist down because I was visiting for a 6 month repap. As I am waiting for Dr. Mostofi, naked from the waist down, Agatha (the receptionist) comes into my room and ask for my payment. A payment we already agreed that I would give once I am done with my appointment. I reminded her that I am naked and I would give her the payment once I'm done. She continued to try to get my payment and even offered to come in and grab my personal belonging and get the payment herself. I felt so violated and forced to give a payment in that moment, while I was naked. I took a second, put my clothes on and reluctantly left the room to give the aggressive receptionist my payment. After I was done, I went back to the room and teared up because of how uncomfortable and violated the people in the office made me feel. I am a 25 year old women that was looking to come to an office that made me feel comfortable in an intimate settings. I am very disappointed and scarred from what I experienced that day and I don't wish that on anyone and will take my services else where. read more

They squeezed me in for some last minute testing which I'm grateful for. I was really annoyed by the reminders but I understand why they do it. The receptionist wouldn't get over me getting frustrated on the phone for the reminders but then I realized she was an elder and I probably shouldn't be rude to people on the phone. I received EXCEPTIONAL TREATMENT. Dr. Lawson walked in so pleasant and just was super aware. Even when we finished the app I felt like I didn't have to ask her anything she was already ahead of me. I had a day procedure Friday morning and am still waiting to receive a follow-up from Dr. Lawson or anyone at this point from the office. I have had to call twice requesting to receive information on what took place and next steps. NOTHING. I am shocked and angry. Never have I ever experienced this type of treatment before. Then entire office from the receptionist to the nurse right on down to the doctor is unprofessional. My appointment was at 3:45, I sign in at 3:26. I wasn't called back until 5pm. I should have left after the first hour. This was all after having my 1st appt rescheduled as I was waiting to be called back because something came up. Yea, ok. As I was telling the nurse that I don't want to see dr. Lawson anymore because I was tired of waiting, she begged me to stay, against my better judgement I did. Dr. Ward is one of the nest doctor's I have ever had!!! So for her she absolutely gets a 5+ Star rating! ....now the front staff on the other hand would get 1 star only because I can't give zero stars. The front office staff seems incompetent. I forget her name but I can guarantee every time I talk to her or check-in with her that she'll do or say something that I know for a fact isn't right (i.e telling me I have to pay two co-pays because I was having two things done). I have to do this review because I was alarmed by the previous reviews and I had already made my appointment. I went in ready to battle with the front desk. I didn't have to. I was greeted with a smile and a helpful attitude. I was supposed to bring the completed paperwork with me but I didn't. So right after I completed the paperwork, I was called back by the MA. She did what she needed to in a very professional and conversational tone. So all was great and better than I expected thus far. I was there to see the WHNP as the doctor was booked. I absolutely love this office. I was referred to Dr. Lawson by a friend and am I glad I was. Dr. Lawson assured me that she was confident I could deliver my second baby via VBAC. Many doctors tell you once you have a cesarean, that's all you can have. Coming from a different office and obgyn who was cold and didn't even acknowledge my husband or family, I was extremely pleased with the warmth in this office. Dr. Lawson made my husband feel welcome and she was right! I was able to deliver my second baby vaginally. What a blessing. She gave me an experience I never thought I'd be able to have. My body healed quickly and I can't even begin to express what a positive experience I had from beginning to end. I will never go anywhere else. read more

I have been going to Dr. Lawson for 10 years. I currently live in Houston and I travel to Dallas each year for my well woman's exam. That's how amazing of a Doctor she is. She helped refer me to a great doctor when she found a tumor. She was supportive when my father was diagnosed with cancer which she did not have to be. Dr. Lawson genuinely cares about her patients. I have been seeing Dr. Lawson for 5 years and she has delivered 3 of my 4 children. I will say that her care was FAR better than the OB that delivered my first (which is worth 5 stars) but the lack of timeliness and office/nurse competence makes me drop my review to 4 stars. Dr. Lawson quickly went to action after I had an irregular pap, monitored my follow-ups to let me know when we could have another, monitored my labor closely after the surgery, and then worked very closely with me during my 4th which ended in bed rest and weekly visits for 8 weeks! She is hands down the most caring and personable person. She could benefit from some new staff and keeping her patients waiting A LOT less. Also, I delivered all my babies on the weekend at 3 am and she was there the whole time! I don't think she ever sleeps :) read more

I'm conflicted on this review because Dr Lawson is personable, kind, has a great bedside manner, but her front line staff and her follow up team could use some training. She's very busy so I make my appointments months ahead of time but I've never had an ob/gyn emergency. I've gone here for about 7 years. My last appointment the doctor noticed an abnormality that she brought to my attention but when I received my follow up call the lady said that all of my tests were fine. I replied what abt this.....in response to what the doctor told me during my visit. She replied okay I see it now. I'll get you a prescription for that. I thought it was ridiculous! I have been Dr Lawson's patient for 10yrs and at 39 I finally am pregnant I WILL NEVER go back!!! I am also a healthcare professional and I am embarrassed I have referred so many clients to her. 1. Customer service and 2. Competence of her office is awful!!!I called when I was 8 wks pregnant and the office staff simply told me to take a prenatal and come back at 12 wks bc Dr Lawson doesn't see patients at 8wks. No one looked at my chart to see my age, or my past medical history which included thyroid issues which can cause problems in the first 8wks or development if not monitored. When I brought this to the office girls attention she told me it wasn't necessary - I asked if she was a licensed nurse she said no...I asked if she held any license and she said no- so Dr Lawson obviously finds it acceptable for unskilled people to give her patients medical advice. Just FYI to those reading this my sister is a ER trauma nurse in children's and she was the one that said it was important I see my Dr at 8wks. Now let's jump forward to 12 wks..I call again and before anyone asks my name or if I am a patient I am told Dr Lawson isn't taking new patients. Again zero customer service. You are dealing with emotional women in a vulnerable state the LEAST you can do is offer an alternative Doctor. The fact Dr Lawson doesn't care if she is losing clients she has had 10yrs is a really bad sign about office organization and culture that ultimately effects the client when she is on the table delivering as well. After discussing with the office I had been a client for 10yrs tads yada they could fit me in 3 weeks -which didn't work due to my travel work schedule. Sad to say I went to a Medicaid clinic on my NYC trip and was treated far better than in Dr Lawson's office. Last jump forward to today. I call say it's been 20 weeks I need to see Dr Lawson. Again without asking if I was an existing client the ghetto office girl tells me "Dr Lawson isn't takin any late ones" unprofessional language, uncaring voice, no emotional empathy for the client who obviously is in a "situation" and no solutions ...unbelievably bad customer service and quite terrible healthcare delivery that technically can cause harm to clients. For the 3rd time I review with the incompetent staff my age, the amount of time Iv been a client and brief health history and explain I travel for work. The girl wants to no my insurance (did I mention I am a health care auditor ..) Aetna is good coverage but not the highest payor to Drs so I thought this was odd. I told her I would bring the card at the visit which is routine procedure and she said "well I need the number so I know how much you have to pay" I told her I didn't care how much I have to pay I need to see a Dr. The girl said she had to have my insurance which is the 1st ever that's happened in 10yrs so I gave her the info and then she proceded to tell me there was no room for my January due date and I should have seen Dr Lawson earlier!!! I really am not the type of person to write reviews but I was so disappointed with this place, I just had to let people know. I do like Dr. Lawson and one of the other OBGYN Doctors there but when it comes to the rest of the staff... I would give this review zero stars if I could. There is no customer service and dont even think about getting a call back for anything.. I was told i would be called to have an appointment scheduled because their system was currently down at the moment (which seems to happen waaaayy to often) and months went by and I was never called. Then when I actually scheduled my own appointment and went in to wait almost an hour to be brought back for my shot, I was told that they were out of the medication I needed. I wasted almost 2 hours of my morning and missed work to only reschedule for another appointment. My sister also used MadeWell and was treated horribly. She had a miscarriage back in December and then found out that she was pregnant again that next April. When she called to try and make an appointment or see if she needed to come in immediately for any reason, the lady on the phone just replied with "Well Dr Lawson cant be seen for another 2 months..." Ok... That wasnt what she asked, she asked if she needed to be seen immediately because of her situation. Once again, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm a Texas transplant, and when I found out that I was expecting I was very nervous. I immediately knew that I'd be having an elected cesarean (I had one for the birth of my first child in my home state) and naturally desired the best care for myself. My primary care physician isn't an OB/GYN (she provides limited OB/GYN care) nor did she offer up a referral after being notified of my pregnancy. I had to figure out something, so I turned to a close friend that's a nurse. She did not hesitate to refer me to Dr. Lawson! She said without a doubt that Dr. Lawson is the ONLY Dr. That she would entrust to deliver. With that being said, I called to schedule an appointment. I couldn't be happier with the services that were provided during and after the pregnancy! The repeat cesarean went smoothly... bedside care afterward was amazing (Dr. Lawson came to check up on my progress several times after surgery. Whereas, my first delivery-the physician only stopped in to check on me once-while I was in the recovery room... wound up being in the hospital the after first delivery for 7 days) Dr. Lawson's staff is the best that I have encountered since being in TX. Should we decide that we will be trying again for baby 3 next year, we will definitely have Dr. Lawson delivering! read more

Dr. Jenaya Ward is hands down the BEST ob/gyn out there. She has the most incredible bedside manner and is so genuine. Dr. Ward performed a c-section on me in November, 2012 and it was honestly the best experience I've had (and I previously had 2 c-sections). Wish I knew her long before this last pregnancy! Dr. Ward takes as much time as you need when in the room with you and never makes you feel bad about how many questions you have. I feel very blessed to know her and have her as my ob/gyn and wouldn't see anyone else now! read more

Dr. Ward is awesome. Really smart and caring. But God forbid if you have to work out something with your insurance through the office. They will simply not call you back, or just become rude. This morning the front desk told me that my insurance carrier was supposed to order my IUD.. and when I called the insurance company they stated "um.. we are not a supplier, we are your insurance company.." Long story short, I'm having to start all over and go to an OBgyn that actually has IUDs in stock and doesn't have to take weeks trying to work with your insurance and order one, just to tell you that they can't get it for you. My recommendation is to go somewhere else if you're getting an IUD, unless you have an unlimited amount of time and energy to spend on it. read more

Dr. Lawson is awesome. I live in Austin, TX and ended up finding her through a friend referral. I went to three other doctor's prior to seeing her over the coarse of five years. She saw me in one visit of 1-hour and completely diagnosed me with similar information as the prior three however Dr. Lawson went a step further in her analysis and testing which was critical knowledge of next steps to preparing me to be able to carry a child. I'd had a huge fibroid that impacted my ability to get pregnant prior to meeting her. I will continue to travel to Dallas to see her. Take charge of your health ladies! read more

Worst experience I have ever had. I would give them negative stars if I could. Over the 6th months I have been seeing Madewell OBGYN it has been a constant struggle with the front desk, who always seems to forget what my appointments are for, but my last visit was the final straw. The nurse who saw me should be let go. Her bed side manner is awful. I was there to get a pap smear, IUD inserted and Gardasil shot. After the pap smear and insertion I was quite woozy and the doctor offered to bring me some water and ibuprofen. Instead, the nurse returns and tells me I need to get dressed and leave now. I make it to the lobby where I have to sit down to keep from getting sick and go on my way. 30 minutes later I get a phone call from their office about the shot they had failed to give me, but they blamed the incident on me. How unprofessional! The next day I called them back to reschedule an appointment for the Gardasil shot. They put me on hold and then disconnected me when it was time for them to go to lunch. This is no way to run a business. I will be looking for a new doctor and I would recommend other patients of Madewell do the same. read more

I had an appointment at 10 and I got there on time, the front desk asked me for my ID and ins card and I hand her my ins card and let her know I lost my DL sometime between the weekend and today, they have me go to the back and leave a urine sample. I come back and ask the front to send a medical records request to my Dr. and she makes a face like I'm asking for too much. 10:33 comes and she tells me I have to reschedule my appt!! because I don't have my ID, I gave them my ss# my husband's, I even have OP reports and she proceeds to tell me that "I might be using "that" lady's insurance since I don't have my ID" I said what?? Why didn't you say I couldn't be seen from the beginning? I've waited 30mins.. I also mention I can have my Dr fax my picture ID and she says they need the actual card and If I can go get one I have to wait until I receive the card in the mail! Are you serious?? I was very upset, so I leave and get to my car and 4 minutes later I Find a work ID and I called and ask if that would do she says "you've already missed your appt and we have other patients" Well I also had an appt and I am also a pt, am I worth less than your other patients? mind you I have very excellent insurance coverage, no deduct no out of pocket only an initial $20 copay for prenatal care. I was only going to consult for a consideration of a VBA2C. I was pretty much treated like garbage, she made accusatory comments that I was using "her ID". She also asked me to come back at 2:30 but I have a JOB! and the drive is long I cant just "come back" they make it seem so easy for us to get off work, I had OP reports for God's sake! how was I going to commit fraud? is it because I'm Hispanic??? and they thought I was on medicaid or something? This same girl had told me over the phone that the wait time to see a Dr once I arrived at the office was 2.5 hrs, later on I called and I was told that's not the case maybe 30 mins at the most. So I think this person has it out for Hispanics. Needless to say I am not going back and I am staying with Dr. Downey, I had gone to see DR. Lawson because her location is closer to my home, but forget that. Also the place where her office is is right next to "PARKLAND'S EAST HEALTH CARE CENTER" so it is really really hard to find a parking space. I would try to avoid the girl in the front, I did not get her name but she was extremely rude and unprofessional. If I could give it zero stars I would! Never again! I really think my miscarriage was due to their lack of care. I am 35 and wasn't seen until 12 weeks which is around the time I was told to start prenatal vitamins. When I went in, I had a sono that I literally begged for. I was shown that my child wasn't moving, didn't have a heartbeat and had passed at 8.5 weeks. My husband and I were in tears only to be told that..."Ma'am I am sorry for your loss but we need this room for the next patient." Wow! Forget the fact that my child just died and I saw it on the screen. No consoling or nothing! On top of that they drew blood 3 times from me and never gave me results. They kept saying something happened and I had to redo it at 3 different appointments. The wait is horrible. Every appointment was almost 2 hours minimal. They never call YOU to tell you anything...nurses don't even return calls. Dr. Yolanda Lawson rushes you. To me you are just a payment.
