    Loma soltado

The best Lola soltado I've ever had. The flavor was amazing and the green sauce is very good. 10/10 recommend.

So this place has been on my list to eat for MONTHS. I finally scheduled a stop when I knew I would be driving by and actually remembered. I get there, small parking lot. Walk in around 1pm/130pm or so on a Thursday. The place is empty. They only take cash, but do have an ATM machine. I look at the menu and I already know I wanted the chicken (pollo a la brasa). And OF COURSE they do not have it. I don't know if they already sold out or they make chicken on certain days. I asked when they would have some and they said, tomorrow (Friday). So my quest to have their chicken will have to wait a few more weeks/months. Aaaaghhh... I gave 4 stars because they were friendly and nice and I can't leave a tip via the website (only the app, which is not good UX).

First time customer with lots of joy to try the food. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of sanitation and customer service this so call restaurant has. First and foremost the parking is terrible, trash everywhere! They have a dumpster in front of the five businesses- should have taken that as my sign to leave. The restaurant entrance smells like urine, and saw dog feces on the side of restaurant. Again, I should have taken that as a big red sign. I was greeted by a man who called himself the owner and cook. He was rude! And extremely unprofessional. The lack of customer service and the way he expressed himself is not only sexist but inappropriate. Food was cold and it had a weird taste. Please save your money and spend it on another Peruvian restaurant where you will be treated with respect.

Pollada + Mazamorra Morada for dessert = 5 stars!! This place is always cooking great food, making me wanna come back over and over!!

Just ordered from this place. What a let down. Not sure what all the positive reviews are about. 1. Lomo Saltado had a lot of salt and pepper to the point where you can't taste anything else but salt and pepper. 2. The Ceviche mixto was chewy and some parts hard. Also way way too spicy. 3. The three pieces of bread were stale and tasted like they've been stale for a few days. Nothing tasted fresh. Will never order from this place again. If you're craving Peruvian food - go else where. Seriously do yourself a favor and buy else where.

The Yuca Fries are a must! Fried and topped with chorizo. All of the sides sounded really good, but these are the best! We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Sunday without a reservation, but we were immediately seated upon arrival. The ambiance was relaxing and calm with a resort-like interior. Our server was attentive, yet very respectful of our private space and time, which we greatly appreciated. We never felt rushed, and were able to enjoy the relaxing time. Here is our order: Chicha No Nada with Pisco: A very refreshing drink! Adding pisco was a right choice, making it a perfect cocktail to start off the vacation. Bass Ceviche: A great Peruvian-inspired dish! Highly recommend adding the crispy quinoa crusts for additional $3. Wood-fired Skirt Steak: This dish is very similar to Lomo Saltado, which is our favorite Peruvian dish. Steak was cooked to perfection. Yuca Fries: This dish was very interesting, featuring chorizo, yuzu-cilantro, pickled ajis, and cotija. It was delicious and perfect as a side dish. While the food was excellent, the portions were quite small for dishes that are "meant to be shared" as descrived by our server. Albeit this, our dine-in experience was very positive and enjoyable overall.

He came out personally and asked if it was our first time visiting, and right away you could tell how much he genuinely cares about his customers, his restaurant, and the quality of service they provide. Juan took the time to share some of the history of the restaurant, which has been around for over 45 years, and how it has evolved throughout that time. What stood out to me most was how much appreciation he showed for his staff and chef, many of whom have been with the restaurant for over 20 years. He spoke about them with a lot of gratitude and made it clear that he sees them as a major part of the restaurant's success. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the food. He explained some of their recipes, what makes them special, and how they use authentic Peruvian ingredients. You could really hear the pride and passion he has for maintaining the quality and authenticity of what they serve. He also shared how social media, Yelp, Instagram, TikTok, and especially the support of customers have helped the business continue to grow. What I appreciated was how humble and grateful he was about it. After 45 years in business, you could still see how much every person who walks through the door means to him. Great food and even better hospitality. If you're in Downtown LA and looking for authentic Peruvian food, I highly recommend stopping by. You're not only supporting a local restaurant with decades of history, but also a business that clearly takes pride in its food, its people, and taking care of its customers. Thank you, Juan, for making our first visit such a memorable one. We will definitely be back, good vibes, delicious food!

The Peruvian food is still as good now as it was then. I ordered the Aquadito de Pollo which is a chicken soup with a distinct herbal flavor. There is plenty of tender chicken in the soup. It was a good start to my main which was Saltado de Pollo, my favorite. The dish was nicely prepared with a good ratio mix of chicken, onions, tomatoes, and French fries. It was not too salty at all. Rosty seems to make an exemplary Saltado de Pollo. The Chicha Morada was refreshing with the meal. I would return to Rosty if I am in the area again. Dining areas are comfortable with staff being friendly and efficient. The neighborhood looked gentrified with many other businesses in close proximity to explore. I ordered the quarter chicken with rice and salad, and I was really impressed with the portion sizes. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and gave me the kind of authentic Latin food vibes that I love. The sauce was definitely the highlight for me--it was so good that I found myself adding it to every bite. The prices are also fantastic. For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. I found that a bit disappointing, especially since we had already paid for the same food as everyone else dining in. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely the reason I would come back. If I'm in the area and craving their chicken, I'd absolutely return--just with different expectations regarding the seating situation and service.

Upon entering the restaurant, you'll feel transported into another country almost. The disco ball, the mood lighting, the live piano and singer, and overall upbeat energy was an instant vibe. I love how enthusiastic the staff is about the food, especially our server Gaia, who was an absolute gem. She kept our corn seeds refilled all evening (which by the way, was SO good and SO filling). The items we ordered were so unique and definitely felt like a true fusion of Peruvian and Japanese culture. We ordered: SPICY CRAB HAND ROLL: Wow, love the crunch and aioli in this!! Very flavorful, and the subtle crunchy texture was incredible. HOKKAIDO SCALLOP: Not sure what fermented douche paste is, but this was also a banger. It was fresh, and had an almost milky flavor to it. The bomb. SHRIMP DUMPLING w TIGER MILK AIOLI & SESAME LEAF: This was probably the highlight of our evening. Our server Gaia highly recommended this. I'm not a huge dumpling person, but she convinced me that it was worth it. I cannot rave enough about this dish. The subtle milky and creamy sauce drizzled on top of the shrimp dumpling was incredible. Idk if I'd even call it a dumpling because the shape was very interesting. The sesame leaf gave it such a refreshing aftertaste. Highly recommend this one! JAPANESE CURRY RAVIOLI: Probably my second favorite! I've never had curry ravioli before but what an audacious idea! MISO COD: Loved the little puffed things on top of the miso cod!!! Pretty standard dish, but it was really good! SALMON SKEWERS: Came highly recommended by Gaia, so of course we ordered it. Flavorful as heck, and love the sauce that it came with! BLUEBERRY PIE: Ohhhh boy, this was the most decadent and delicious pie I've EVER eaten. It came with a bunch of whipped cream, and two scoops of ice cream. The pie was so thick, it tasted like how fairy tale storybooks describe a pie made with love by someone's grandma. The slice is HUGE too, so you're def getting your money's worth for $15. Yes the food here was great, but our experience was truly elevated by the staff, especially our server Gaia! Her laidback yet enthusiastic vibe made us feel super cared for. I can't wait to send all my friends here so they can experience Hummingbird for themselves!!!
