When my iPhone 8 battery needed replacing, I made an appointment with the Best Buy geek squad, but when I arrived, they took a look at it and said it was too old to get the battery and sent me away. A short drive up the street to Computer world and the customer service was a completely different story. While I waited, they checked availability and placed the order with Apple. They called when the battery arrived, and when I took the phone in they had it ready to go in just a couple hours. Battery health is 100%, and so is the customer service at Computer World! read more

Scam. Took my iMac in for service. They kept it for 10 days, said they could not replicate the issue. They lied. When I got home I powered it on and there was the same error message on screen that I took it in for. I did not have the computer up and running so the error had to have occurred at their facility. I told them my AppleCare was running out and they kept the computer one day past the date of AppleCare expiring. Total scam. I concur with the other one star reviews. I made an appointment to seek help with my old MacBook Pro early 2015. I hadn't used it in years and wanted to retrieve all the photos and videos off it. I also never took the log in password off and only had one idea of what it could be. Larry Vatland assisted me with this process and was able to complete my request in one day--incredible and extremely timely. I'm not sure if the password I gave him was correct, but nonetheless, he was able to complete my request. All I needed to give him was the laptop and my external hard drive to transfer all the photos and videos. The cost was also very reasonable and affordable. I'm so grateful for him! read more

My daughters Mac book pro witch she purchased in February of 2017 Was working great until she down loaded a update the laptop crashed. So someone told her to take it to computer world,big mistake now and 603.75 dollars later. Now the computer had nothing wrong with it before the update she was using it at UWO for home work minutes before the update. At CW the guy told her it should be a warranty job then the next day said it will cost 575.00 dollars to fix they claim the screen was damaged,key board was damaged, logic board,top case and battery needed to be replaced. When we picked it up Friday they had no itemized bill I asked Sarah to get one she was given some sound and dance. The biggest issue I have is where did all these parts get damaged the laptop was working perfectly before the update download still waiting on the itemized bill ( if I can believe it). If you need to take your Mac in for service, skip bringing it to these guys, and drive down to the Apple store. I had a screen replaced on my macbook pro, and they realigned the screen horribly (I had to take it back in to fix, and it still isn't straight), and the screws on the bottom weren't tightened well. I took my Mac Pro in because it wasn't starting. Took them almost a week to do "fix"...fast forward a couple weeks and it's doing the same thing I took it in for. Highly recommend driving to Milwaukee and saving yourself a headache with these guys read more

I'll save all of you the time I wasted at Computer World and keep this short. Scam artists. Liars. The technician and service manager told me Apple regulations prevented them from repairing the battery on my 5 year old Mac Book Pro due to a diagnostic they ran showing my 5+ year old battery was "just fine" despite sharing with them that it will last 3-4 hours on a full charge. They suggested a new computer... I called Apple Technical Support who could see the diagnostic they ran and told me that he "couldn't imagine why they wouldn't replace my 5+ year old battery". He suggested I call another Apple repair facility. I did (they also could see the diagnostic) and they prompted ordered the battery for me and set up the repair. $300 for new battery vs $2500 for the new computer. Run a way as fast as you can from these scammers! read more

If you're going to have your apple devices serviced and schedule an appointment throughout apple consider it a consultation. They're were unable to replace my battery when through I had an appointment to replace my battery it was a waste of my time and the employees were extremely rude about it. read more

I had a computer problem before school started at UW-Madison. Although the computer problem was an anomaly, they problem solved the possible steps to fix it. After talking about it, they gave me recommendations towards what I wanted to do. I could have fixed it myself (they told me what I needed to do) I could have had them or have myself install a "fusion drive" (they told me what that was) I could back it up and restore it I could have them clean it up and restore it I chose to let them clean it up and restore it.. They ran my computer through a series of tests where I discovered I needed a new battery as well (I had suspicions that I needed a new one, but their test confirmed it). I liked that they gave me options and even said that I could try and fix it on my own! They were very helpful to this new problem. I trust they know what they were doing. Based on my experiences with other shops like these, Computer World had the best knowledge, resources, staff, and data to help me. Additionally, their property is really amazing and well kept! Set up an appointment over the phone with them saying they could fix my urgent phone repair issues and then walked 40 minutes in order to get there at my appointment time just to have them tell me that they couldn't fix my phone or sell me the parts in order to do so myself since it was an issue they were fully capable of being able to take care of. Just to say, I have never left a negative review for a store before. read more

I can not praise these guys enough, they were so great. Their customer service is great, and they were so helpful and knowledgeable. I had broken the track pad on my Mac and I brought it back to the best buy I had boughten it from to see what I should do. They told me my very expensive warranty had expired less than a week earlier, and it would cost me about 500 dollars to fix and take about 3 weeks. I went home to go look at all of my options, and a friend of mine told me about computer world. I went in and they diagnosed what was wrong with my computer and estimated that repairs would only be 170 dollars! On top of that, they gave me the number for apple along with their business card to call and ask if apple would cover it, and they did! My repair was completely covered and they estimated 3 DAYS to fix it. I went from paying 500 bucks and waiting 3 weeks to paying nothing and wait 3 days! As long as they are open, I'm not going anywhere else. read more

Will not be returning. I brought in my iPhone with an issue that was very well-known to both Apple and Computer World. They ran some "diagnostic test" which rendered my phone inoperable. Forcing me to wait 3-6 business days for the replacement. On top of making my phone unusable without informing me, there were no loaners available. Well there were 2 in the store but for some reason "the serial numbers were not right for my phone". Left with no phone and no answers from computer world. I tried to replace the battery in my I phone . Took to Best Butt. They told me to bring back in 1hr & 20min. for the next appointment. Told them I was here now . Write a work order on it , I'm in no rush! Nope can't do that. Took to Computer World . Waited a bit. they said . If we can't fix we will send to Apple for exchange. Told them about my battery exchange . 20mins. $30.00 tech said I had not seated one of the connection properly. I thought that was very kind of them. I never expected them to do it on the spot. Took my iPad2 in here on 9/24 as it had gone frozen during my attempted installation of IOS 8. After looking at it for a considerable amount of time and being told mid-way through that, "it didn't look good", the techs here told me it could not be fixed; that it was something to do with my iPad's internal processor. The only option was to buy a new one - and I would have, too, only one of the other techs said there would be new iPads coming out soon and that I should wait. I am glad I waited Well, after I got home, thinking about the whole situation, something just didn't seem right. So on 9/25 I drove down to the Apple Store in Milwaukee, explained the problem and within 45 minutes my iPad was restored, reinstalled and updated with IOS 8 -all free of charge. That could have been a $500 mistake had I not done that. We have purchased products from this Computer World in the past and have always been satisfied. But as another reviewer indicated, if you have a tech or service issue, do yourself a favor and drive down to The Apple Store at Mayfair Mall. You'll be glad you did. read more

I took my computer to these guys 2 weeks ago. The keyboard was not working and I could not sign in. They kept it for a couple days, then called and left a message that I had "liquid damage", which voided my warranty, and it would cost about 800 plus dollars to fix everything that was wrong with it; "You may want to consider buying a new computer". I picked up my computer and took it to the Milwaukee Apple store. The tech there says "our indicator never went off" referring to the fact that they did not find liquid damage on initial inspection. There is still a chance that there is liquid damage but they would know for sure when they took it apart. No costs to me until they looked at it and at that time would give me options. The tech indicated that there was a very good chance that my warranty would cover everything, given that he did not suspect liquid damage as an issue (remember now that the tech at Computer World in Appleton told me there was liquid damage). He also indicated that if the warranty was infact voided by liquid damage, the suspected repair cost would be in the 400 dollar range, and not 800 plus dollars. I left my computer there to see what they could do. After two days, my computer arrived today via Fed-Ex, everything fixed and covered by my warranty. Here is what my Apple Care Service Product Repair Summary reads: "You're covered. Apple covered your repair as described on the left (see Repair Coverage Status). There is no charge for the service that we performed. Here's what we did: We replaced the part(s) listed below. Your diagnosed and repaired product now passes all hardware testing. We replaced these parts: Card Wireless, Housing Top Case with Keyboard, Track pad, Cable IPD". They are either crooks or incompetent at Computer World in Appleton, and almost had me purchase a new MacBook Air to the tune of 1300 bucks, but I had a bad feeling about them. So so SO glad I listened to that gut feeling and went for a second opinion. The drive to Milwaukee was worth it. I had to go eat at the Cheesecake Factory next door to kill a little time while I waited for an hour to see someone. Poor me, lol. So worth it. These guys in Appleton will never see me again! Oh, and this computer was purchased there just under three years ago. Never again! As a few other reviews indicate, you'd be best to avoid this place altogether. Do not even waste your time. If you do go there and get "bad news", you will go for another opinion anyway after reading these few reviews. Just terrible. I saved myself a new computer by trusting my gut and getting another opinion. read more

I dropped and broke my screen on my I-phone 7. I purchased the phone at US Cellular and bought the extra protection packet. I went to US Cellular thinking they could repair but they do not repair phones they only sell them. I had a choice to take it to Computer World in Appleton or a Geek Squad or Ubreakifix place. Since I had the service/repair contract I had only Geek Squad/Best Buy or Computer World, Geek Squad in Oshkosh had a 3 hours wait to just look at my phone so I opted to take it to Appleton Computer World. The told me they had to turn off my phone in order to repair the screen. Since I could not use my screen to turn it off they told me the only option was to log into my account via a tablet or computer and shut the phone off that way. They used their tablet to try to log into my account. I had the email address and password written on the business card from US Cellular in my wallet from the day I purchased the phone. I took the card out showed it to service tech and spelled it out to him. He tried several times and told me I had to have changed it the password. I insisted that I never changed the password. He then suggested I get on the phone with Apple and tell them to reset the password so they could turn off the phone. I was on hold with Apple for 25 minutes and got no results because they said I had to prove who I was and needed to fax them my purchase paperwork, which I did not have with me. I hung up and went back to the counter and spoke with another person. I asked her if there was any other way we could handle this. She said they will not repair unless I can turn off the phone. She said I could try a Ubrakeifix place that they might fix the phone without turning it off. I explained to her that that would cost me more money because then I couldn't use my service/repair package. She was rude. I asked if I could try inputting the password again on a tablet of theirs. I again pulled the business card out, placed it on the table and she proceeded to enter my email address which is my first and last name. My first name is Mary which is easy no need to spell that. She then asked me to spell name and I spelled the last name to her. She then gave me tablet and I entered every password that I use and none worked. At this point I was beyond frustrated. I then looked down and seen that she entered my email address incorrect. I then put it in correctly and with my original password and it worked. I then said well you entered the email address wrong and that is what he must have done also. She very rudely told me it was not their fault it was entered wrong and that I was being unreasonable. WHAT. I was being unreasonable? You don't treat customers that way in my opinion. I wish at that point I would have walked out and taken it to Ubreakifix. She then printed the paperwork/work order and told me it would be two hours, I signed and left. Two hours later I came back in the store and the same rude salewoman got my phone and proceeded to check me out. I looked at my phone and it was all different. I said what happened and she rudely stated that in order to fix it, they had to set the phone back to factory setting. I was pissed, all my stuff was gone, all my photos, apps, etc. I have since spoken to other repairs places and they told me that they could have fixed the screen without setting back to factory settings. I think truly believe my phone was set back intentionally by this rude woman. I have since also spoken with US Cellular reps who told me that they have had many people not happy with Computer World. I would not recommend using this place for any repairs. I have spend numerous hours trying to get all my stuff back that was wiped from my phone. I have yet to retrieve any photos. read more

Meanwhile I could hear the employees hiding out of sight from the window talking and joking around. Only reason I would ever return is because they are the only business that services mac.
