After speaking to an Apple tech, who advised I get a new phone because my version 11 phone has only half the capacity of the newer phones out there because "the upgrades require more just to run the phone" and since I can't afford one at the moment, this is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill ! Just a bit of a walk from my job in center city. I spent $140 for a screen replacement. There is a 6 month warranty on the work but not for physical damage. If there's a pixelated screen because of the screen replacement, they'll try to correct it for free. Of course it hurt to spend that amount of money twice, but what can you do.
