I bought an old computer from them. $350 Windows XP for an old Dell computer. Month later broke down. Called them, fixed it and asked for another $100. I really wish I could give zero stars. This man is working out of his house, for one. As if that wasn't sketchy enough, he never discussed how much the repairs to my laptop were going to be before doing them. He only gave us an amount after he started the repairs. He said the diagnostic was free, and that's all he said. By the end of him fixing it, it took almost a week to put in a new SSD and replace the disc reader. Oh, and clean it on the inside. He made sure to tell us all about how dirty it was inside, which made sense because we bought it used. He kept telling us every time we spoke on the phone about how nice the laptop was and listing all of the components to us in the process. In the list, was the 16gb of RAM that is stock on the laptop. When I finally got my laptop back, it was super slow, had a different version of windows than it came with, and had a bunch of random stuff downloaded on the desktop. My only concern was that it was so slow, so I looked in the computer information and it only has 8gb of RAM installed now. We called him and asked him about it, thinking he might own up to it saying he forgot to put it in or something, but he doubled down and said there was only 8gb installed when he received the laptop, which I know wasn't true. I specifically remember him saying that there was 16gb of RAM and now all of a sudden there was only 8gb when he got it. Moral of the story, make sure you look long and hard at all of these bad reviews before you make your decision on whether or not to patronize this man's business. Do it at your own risk. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The interior, first off, looks like Hurricane Katrina hit it. NO KIDDING. The people who work here are filthy. I'm talking like an uneaten sandwich lying on the back table. God knows how long it's been there! I brought my printer here to be serviced, and it sat there for three days because their, quote, "printer specialist" was out sick. Yeah, right. Each day it was a different story. Anyway, I hauled that huge printer all the way to this place. I am a relatively small girl so this took a lot of effort. I also brought the ac adapter, which they LOST in that pigstye of a place. The entire back room looks like someone disabled C-3PO times a thousand, throw in some boxes of crackers and cereal and potato chip bags. Anyway, YES they lost my adapter. Then the guy at the front counter says that I never brought an adapter with me. BULLLLSHIIIT. Negative stars for challenging a customer. I refused to leave until they found it. I even went in the back to search for it myself, and guess who found it? I DID. And I don't even work there. And where was it? They are in a new location on California ave. Took my iMac in and was promised 2 days. Got it back in 5 days. They put in a new SSD and seems to work fine. Then discovered that the DVD drive was not working. Tok it back and they claim it was faulty when I brought it in. No fix and no compensation! read more

I have had other things on my mind, and wasn't up taking good care of my laptop. Then, the dog dropped the table it was sitting on. When Dean began working on it, I already gave it up for dead. The motherboard was broken, the battery wasn't charging, and the case was full of dog hair! A week later, when I came in to the Computer Guy'z to pick it up,My Dell has been restored to its original (new-refurbished) condition. Not only that, but Dean sat down with me and went over the work he did on it. The registry was cleaned, the disk defragmented, and he went as far as organize and consolidate my scattered files. New cleanup utilities, malware and anitivirus were installed. I have nothing but praise for his work. Frankly, I am surprised by the negative reviews - this guy is a pro! read more

Gene is one great guy. 10 stars as far as im concerned. Replaced the hard drive on my tough Books laptop, added ram. Put back all the programs and files from the hard drive that crashed. Checked everything twice. A number of older software programs i use, and have much trouble with loading and using in the past, were on it and working perfect. He put a number of other software programs on it . I couldnt be more pleased. I can believe the low star reviews, probably written by competitors. I learned a lot from him about computers. read more

Now this is what I call a computer repair business! The owner has been doing computer repair for over thirty years and actually knows what he is doing! (Unlike the "geeks" at best buy or the "easy techs" at staples) he can actually fix your computer rather than shrug his shoulders and try to sell you a new one. 99 % of all computer issues are virus related, and I've seen him bring several of mine back from the dead. He does data recovery from failed hard drives bringing all those pictures you forgot to back up back to you! He has saved me thousands over the years! Don't give up on your older computer with Microsoft XP on it, bring it to Dean and it will work like the day you first brought it home, trust me on this! To the two previous reviewers, I'm in!!! Computer Guyz are Crooks, and they are horrible!! My experience was a couple years ago, and I don't know why I didn't write a review then. Better late than never. This place is atrocious and absolutely filthy. A friend had given me an older laptop which was in excellent shape, for me to have as a backup. I took it to C.G. to install a modem, which I brought with me. When I got it back from them, they had cracked and damaged the connection between the screen and the base; and wires were hanging out. My laptop was damaged and destoyed. The owner denied any responsibility. Long story short, he tried to SELL me a used laptop for $200. I took it, and found there was NO adapter, NO modem, and it simply didn't work at all. Plus, it was incredibly FILTHY. I stopped payment on my check. And, I kept trying to call them. After a couple weeks, I got someone on the phone, and they told me I owed THEM $25 ( I guess it was for the Stop Pymt on my check), and that the owner does not call back or respond to anyone who owes him $. There is, of course, more grief to my story. But I think, I HOPE, it is enough to guide "innocent victims" away from this horrible, horrible, dishonest, crooked, place. read more

Years ago this place did an OK job but have gone down the tubes since. As others have stated, I went in for some advice and buying a new computer and Dean quoted me some prices to build one for me. I was hesitant but I gave him a chance. After calling 4 TIMES without so much as a call back, I took my business elsewhere. These guys are crooks! They took 4 weeks to call me back when they said 4 days. They had excuses on top of excuses and they charge 100 bucks for diagnostic when I already knew the problem. I kept calling and they keep pushing and making excuses. I came to just pick up the computer and they said it's not that the shop and it's at Dean's home being worked on. What the hell? These guyz REALLY are GRRREAT! They listened to EVERYTHING I had a concern about, with my computer. They went above and beyond, anything I had expected, in fixing my computer. They, also, taught me quite a bit! I was VERY impressed. Their prices were VERY fair and reasonable. When I took my system in, they gave me a quote and told me of the various things in which they might find and the cost to repair them they were straight forward and honest. They advised they'd call, if the fee were going to be above a certain amount, before doing the work. They gave me a time to return. When I arrived, they had my system ready. The cost was WAY LESS than I had expected It ONLY took a one day to fix my computer. I had been advised, by another store, it would be AT LEAST a week, IF they had the parts to fix it, in the first place. If not, they'd have to order the part, and THAT could take much longer. THE COMPUTER GUYZ, however, were thoughtful and efficient. They had it fixed and running better than ever, in much less time than I had expected. It has been a couple of years, since I needed them. But, I will never forget them. I have a new computer, now, and IF anything were to go wrong, I would not hesitate to be a return customer. They are friendly and informative. Unlike those "Big" computer repair places, These guyz are low key, relaxed, and know their stuff. Although their store could used some redecorating, I was not put off in using them. I would MUCH RATHER the store focus on repairing my computer, than prettying up the place. They offered me suggestions, which were very helpful. I REALLY TRUST THEM, & THEIR WORK. I, also, loved the fact that I didn't have to drive very far, at all, to get to them. What a great convenience and experience. I highly recommend them. I use to love them. Then I took a laptop I inherited to them--complete with external hard drive and very nice leather computer bag. I knew the laptop was old, but I still wanted it checked out. They had it for months. I finally gave up and went to pick it up; they couldn't find it. For an additional month I stopped by or called every week.Ended up screaming on the phone. Zero stars!!!!!!!! These guys are Crooks. Stay away. They were supposed to fix my Mac last year. After a few days they said the place they take macs to had a fire and my computer was ruined from the sprinkler system. They would repair or replace it at no charge. Gee really. Why would they take my mac to another place. They never told me this from the beginning. I heard every excuse possible, from we are short staffed, everyone has the flu and I am swamped, to my wife will leave me if I stay here at work any longer. Never got my computer back. I gave them 3 months, I got so fed up I went to a lawyer who told me it would cost me more money than what the computer was worth to go to court. It just got ridiculous. I let the BBB know this as well. Should have looked there first. They have an F rating. Originally when I found this on yelp. They had a good rating and that's why I chose it. OK. The previous reviews are super accurate. The place is a mess but Dean is a genius. He's fixed two of my pc's within a few days and I haven't had any problems. I would give him five stars but as others have reported, the place is a serious mess and he isn't really good about keeping his word on when you will get your computer back. took a sony 400 dvd player to these guys. the owner said he was going to be $60 to diagnose the problem and if we fix it ,the $60 was going to be taken away from the bill. He was going to call 2 days later to tel me what was broken and a quote for fixing. A week later, no call from him so I went to the store to check on it. He said that it was fixed and what a great product it is and everybody wants it and he went on ebay and they were selling like hot cakes and a lot of them went for over $700. Then he gives me a bill for $315 saying that he gave me a $90 discount. The total read $285 (??) When I asked him what happened to the $60 diagnostic charge which was supposed to be taken away, he said that it was, so the $90 discount was in fact $30. I went on ebay and the most expensive one sells for $399 and you can get a brand new one for $400 at Cruchfield. So I paid to buy the player once and now I had to pay almost the same to this guy for a repair that I did not authorized. He then went on and on about how great the product was and ...heard that before!! he just lost a customer, stay away from that guy! and yes the shop is a train wreck!! read more

KEEP SEARCHING!! I have had nothing but trouble with this establishment. Took my laptop in as it wouldn't boot. Took in adapter and battery so they had what they needed. Long story short they told me it was the Motherboard. I agreed to have them put a new one in. After 2 months of calling to find out what was happening they finally fessed up that they lost it but were looking for it. Two more months go by and each time I called was another story of " we located it but are waiting on a part ". I went in and asked to speak to the owner. It so happened that he was in. He stated that they just received it back and were finishing up checking it to be sure everything worked. I asked to see it. I had taken pictures of everything I brought to them and though it was the same Sony Type, the serial numbers were wrong, the adapter and battery were different. I presented the pictures of the computer and accessories and the owner looked stupefied. I told him I wanted what I brought in and left the copy of pictures I had taken. Two days later he called and said he had my computer with what I brought in and a new Motherboard but they couldn't get it to boot. Are you serious? Picked up the computer ( owner told me to just take it but I offered them what they list for just looking at it and I couldn't believe he took it. Got home, it wouldn't boot, went into the BIOS and noticed the date was wrong. Changed the Date and Computer booted and is still running. rating 0000000000...do not go to these so called computer guz'y....they are crooks!!!!!!!! ,as other customers have confirm . my laptop was working fine ,the only thing that i need it to be fix as some lines on the screen ,that most likely was something to do with the video card.... the so called technician start messing with it for about 20 minutes ..after a while the screen went black....i was nice about it ,and told him that i know he was trying to help ,how ever what he was going to do about this ... he told me,he will talk to the owner dean ,and will call me ...they never did....after several days i called this dean ...he try to give me the round around about my computer....then he said he will look at it and call me tomorrow...he never didi..... my self and my son went there every day for the last two weeks .....same answer ...tomorrow..... i told my son yesterday to go there ,because if i did i was not going to be nice any more,and keep put it up with his bullshit.... so i didi he mention he will give another computer ...again tomorrow..he has being saying that for a week ... got in his car and left.... my son went today and pick my computer ,that now is useless ..since they screw it up .... these people are totally unprofessional ...and will not assume any responsibility or liability for there fuck ups ... i am planning taking these people to small claims ...it is not write for them to get away with this... do not take your computer to this guys ..please !! thank you... read more
