I was referred to Chris at Computer Corner by another computer store for a problem with a Hotmail email account. Chris spent more than 20 minutes guiding me through my options without ever asking for payment [or telling me I had to come into Computer Corner for help.] Ultimately, it was determined that the corruption on the Hotmail account was too severe to be fixed so I opened a new Gmail account. When we recently lost WiFi he checked my husband's laptop to be sure it wasn't a problem with the laptop. He didn't charge us a penny. I ordered a new graphics card online and was in a hurry to buy a new cpu cooler. I purchased the cooler from him and installed it myself. I installed the cooler myself and everything was good. I also installed the new gpu I bought but couldn't get it working. If I were up to myself I thought I would have needed to buy a new motherboard, but Chris was able to locate the issue and correct. I am now running everything highest settings and playing with gta 5 with mods; holy smokes this game looks beautiful! I dislike most technology but yet am completely dependent on it at both work and home. Sigh... My business partner has been taking our aging desktops and one crapped-out server to Chris at Computer Corner for the past couple of years to repair and resuscitate or simply to condemn. She's canny and money-minded and always comes back impressed with his service, clear communication and good pricing, so when my venerable home-use Toshiba black-screened itself into laptop purgatory I brought it here to try and salvage data. Chris was cheerful, knowledgeable, and most importantly intelligible to my moribund analog mind. He diagnosed, explained, and when it was evident that no miraculous rebirth was imminent, gave me options. The one I chose, buy a new cheap machine at BB and pay him a reasonable price to clean it up and to transfer the soul of my old one to the new carcass, might not have been the most profitable for him, but his terrific demeanor and attention never varied. I've been a customer of Computer Corner for at least 5 years. Chris built my computer for me. It has never been completely satisfactory. I've needed to take it in to him for repairs far more frequently than I think should be necessary. The most recent incident happened the first week of October, 2013. The computer wouldn't start; Chris ran diagnostics and found numerous viruses. He said he needed to take everything off the computer and reinstall it. Well, his reinstallation process lost all my bookmarks, virtually all of my documents and my Quiken! I use Mozilla Firefox, not Internet Explorer. Chris admitted that he only backed up what was in the place Windows (i.e., Internet Explorer) stores things and did not check to make sure that's what I was using. So, my Firefox bookmarks, stored in a different place did not get backed up. Heaven only knows what happened to all my documents, most of which were in Word, a few in Open Office and all stored in my Window Documents Library. What came back is a random assortment of files, including some pictures (in the Document libary?) and many installation files which, again, should not be in the Document library. I'm sad to say this but I cannot recommend Computer Corner. In fact, I would say stay away unless you are very knowledgable and can talk specifics with Chris so that you are very clear about what you are going to get. Chris tries hard to be customer supportive but he talks far more than he listens. He never asks whether the customer understands and is satisfied. He never explains the potential hazards and failures of what he is proposing to do. read more
