If you're looking for reliable and quality, this is it. Free diagnosis, and even better was how fast and affordable it was to have my laptop repaired. During the diagnosis, Doug ordered a new keyboard for my laptop. I couldn't type without the dash symbol streaming at 9 miles per nanosecond across where I needed to type. After dropping off my computer he called within a couple hours to pick it back up. I often pay attention to people's character and personality (I'm a coach, consultant, counselor) and Doug is highly personable, friendly, knowledgeable and inviting. I think we often feel nervous that we'll be taken advantage of when technicians use fancy language and boast egoically about what they know and ripped off, or overcharged... or perhaps rationalize that what we're asked to pay is just normal. I even contacted a few others before I found Computer Pros and either didn't get a call back or they asked for a diagnosis fee. I share this in hopes that after reading it that your concerns subside, and when you meet with Doug your interaction will no doubt confirm this. If his service was just okay, I would have given a good rating (for the quality of work) and a nice message, but I do like to promote those I feel who go above and beyond and Computer Pros does just that. I used Yelp to help find an internet savvy guy to improve the wiring and network in our home. Of the six I contacted, four responded but only one said they could do the work and that was Computer Pros. Doug came by on a Saturday for the estimate. By Sunday late night, I had an itemized estimate in my inbox and shortly after he was on site running diagnostics on all our existing cables and wires and then building a secure and more expansive network. I'm here in Monterey as a travel nurse. I turn on my laptop and who knows what is wrong with it. I call Doug and leave a message. He calls back very quickly, tells me what he can do, and then is at my complex picking the computer up. He calls me at night with his estimate. BUT back to Doug!:-) About a year ago, I dropped my computer and cracked the screen, I reached out to Doug from a far (as I am out of town for school) and asked for his advice. He was completely honest with me and recommended that I look to invest in a new computer because the cost of the screen repair would be comparable to the purchase of a new computer. There is nothing I admire more than honesty especially in situations like this where it is a profit or not situation for the business. In addition to that consult, yesterday, I had what any student would consider and emergency; while finishing a very important paper that is make or break for graduating from my Doctorate program, my computer gave me an error message and shut down. Upon restarting, the file would not open secondary to unreadable content (i.e. somehow it became corrupted). After spending an hour at the help desk on my campus and asking multiple friends and professors for help, I reached out to Doug in hopes he had a solution. Not only did he respond immediately with a possible solution, he offered to work on the corrupted file. Not long after our initial conversation, he sent me an email with THE solution and I was able to recover the previously saved version of my file (which had all of my content). I live in the Salinas Valley and needed my computer's CPU and cooling system replaced. I called around to get quotes and turnaround times and was discouraged by quite a lot of the other places in the area. Either they wanted more than I felt was necessary to install hardware or they couldn't give me an estimated timeframe of less than 2-3 days. A few didn't answer the phone very quickly. And then there was the one who, when I described what I needed done, all he could say was "huh?" and I had to repeat myself. Doug, however, answered the phone promptly and he was competent and professional during the entire call. He offered to come to my home and when I expressed concern about possibly not having a static free environment, he was understanding and offered to meet us at a local shop where he sometimes does the work for his clients. We decided better to meet him and let him take my computer, do the necessary work, and then meet again to pick it up. He was amazing through the entire process and even texted me with photos when there was potentially an additional issue with my computer.
