I had the pleasure to work with Cathryn and Yun Hee and they both helped me a lot in my journey to get pregnant again.  I finally got pregnant early this year! I can't say for sure that acupuncture helped me conceive entirely or it was just a major coincidence, but it did help me de-stress, relax, and have an hour to myself of peace and quiet.  I highly recommend Lokahi Acupuncture for all your fertility needs or just to de-stress in general! Both Cathryn and Yun Hee are amazing acupuncturists, especially Yun Hee since I saw her all of this year throughout my pregnancy and postpartum.

There was no one at the desk at first, but one of the acupuncturists soon came out and checked me in. She showed me where the restrooms were, asked me to take a seat and said my acupuncturist would soon be with me. My acupuncturist asked me some health questions in the private room where I was to have my treatment. She listened and didn't dismiss anything I said like my regular doctor often does. Then she explained where she would be inserting the needles and why. She also went into detail about what I could expect during the session, which I appreciated. Most of the needle insertions were painless, but a few hurt a bit. The pain went away quickly. The acupuncturist turned out the lights and left the room as I laid on my back on the table with the needles in me. I couldn't feel them as long as I didn't move. I'm not sure how long I laid there, but it was very warm and relaxing with gentle music playing. I almost fell asleep. I had a button I could press if I needed help and the acupuncturist checked on me a couple times. She removed the needles and then had me rollover on to my stomach for cupping on my upper back to help with pain relief in my neck and shoulders. After the session my migraine was gone and my neck and shoulder pain had decreased. I made several more appointments and look forward to them.

I met him through classes taught at Google, and am trying to get more healthy movement in my life, and his school is in San Jose, next door to my hood. I'm taking Tai Chi, technically, and he teaches the Chinese and Tibetan forms. I'm learning the Chinese since he teaches it at Google so I should stay consistent. My preference is Qi Gong, which I feel is more meditative and simpler in terms of movement (I like simple), but both are gentle enough forms and I am open to learning. One room has a firmer rubber mat, the second room has a "waterbed" format where the mat is stuffed with some soft material and walking on it forces your feet and body to constantly renegotiate equilibrium. Definitely a work out! Ron is a very Western-style teacher. He's said he's third generation Chinese and doesn't speak Chinese fluently, so, he's approaching things from a Western mind set I guess and can "translate." Examples - when he tries to describe the weight distribution of your feet he will often resort to % descriptions, and I think he knows a Western/American mind understands that logic better than other descriptions. He explains why he's asking you to do things, and why you are performing certain forms in a certain way. He is jokey, friendly, open, and conversational. He will test you gently by walking away and leaving you to figure out forms he's taught you, or ask you to do the forms with your eyes closed. He wants you to enjoy the forms versus to become overly fixated on perfection/military precision. That being said, he will correct you on incorrect form and movement. Am definitely enjoying myself and have referred a friend to his class already. I'm hoping it continues to work out and that we stick to it and enjoy it for the long term!

That is not true. My teacher was in Tibet. So therefore he could never have met my teacher. Second the Tibetan he teaches he does not have full authority and lacks the understanding of the teaching. Also he call a Lopon is a high title given to tantric masters. He did not go through the rites or transmission. It is disrespectful. Third to not name me but to try to make me go away by calling me a disciple. Rather I was given full rights as a holder and master. Full master. If you choose to learn fine just know there are Tibetan that are offended but choose to let it go. This all I have to say except he is not willing to talk directly about it. It is fully out of integrity. Just letting everybody know. In 1981, Sifu Lew met Master Peng-si Yu and his wife, Min Ouyang from Shanghai. He also met Master Hu from Tibet. For over 20 years, Sifu Lew was heavily into the external Kung-fu. He furthered his studies in the internal arts: the "calming the Mind and Healing art" through Qi Gong, long hours of Standing Meditation, Breath work and Tibetan Energy understanding. He founded Ti Aki in the honor of my teacher. This would have my teacher turning in his Grave. Just so you know.

When I was researching a trainer for our kids, I was very picky about training philosophy and qualifications. My knowledge gained through my degree in Kinesiology and certifications such as CSCS and Tactical Strength and Conditioning Specialist (National Strength and Conditioning Association) have empowered me with knowledge I cannot "unknow". I successfully became a firefighter at the age of 37, not because I knew how to train, but because I knew how to train smart. So when it came to my children, I wanted them to have a GOOD trainer, and I know not all certifications are the same. Michaels bio is fantastic and seeing how he is working with our kids is above our expectations. Not only is he giving them quality instruction, he also texts them little reminders throughout the week or to check in if they have a big game. As a parent it is nice to have back up in the delivery of smart training ; ) I highly recommend Michael !

We have since collaborated with several clients over the years and it's amazing the changes that he has facilitated for their greater health. Getting to learn from him has been transformative in a very complete, holistic way. He has deep and broad, ever expanding, knowledge base and more than three decades of experience working with all kinds of people. He draws from the best of many different disciplines and is able to find the right balance that is congruent with the goals desired. He truly walks the walk, rising before dawn to practice and teach Qi Gong and as an avid surfer at an age when the great majority of people stop being so active and choose to coast through life telling tall tales about their past glory. His guidance has radically shifted the direction in my health journey and even my professional life as he helped make it abundantly clear what my health and, for that matter, even my life goals are. To say that he inspires me is an understatement and I grateful to consider him a mentor and friend. It is truly the wise who seek out those who have what you want and then do what they do. If you want your highest performance possible now and/or you long for vigorous longevity you should call Michael Holland now and hire him. You would be doing yourself one of the best favors imaginable in having him help you achieve your best quality of health.

I found Almaden Yoga through the Mind Body app - it's within 5 miles of the house - so decided to give it a try. The class that worked with my schedule was Wall Yoga, which was described as a class where you'd use the wall to help work on alignment in your poses. I worried that it would be a pretty mellow class but signed up anyway. My concern was completely unwarranted, at least based upon the way Anuja taught it. Using the wall meant not having to worry about balance - an issue for me given an arthritic left big toe and a chronically sprained right ankle - meaning that we could focus upon fuller expression of the poses thereby requiring greater strength. I was literally dripping sweat by halfway through the class. It's a beautiful studio, conveniently located near my childhood home. I'll be sure to come back the next time I am out for a visit.

It's too bad this seems to be the only yoga option in the area.
