Brought my son here off a referral from a friend. The doctors are very kind however, this is the 3rd time they're bringing me back for an issue that should've been resolved a long time ago. They needed a sample of something to send to the lab, and the first 2 times the samples were not accepted. I was charged a lab fee for the first 2 times, but at least they waived the lab fee, and visit fee the third time. I understand things happen, but it's hard to find time in the day to bring my child back 3 times in just 2 weeks. Also, the medication they sent in wasn't covered by insurance. The pharmacy told me the copay would be an upwards of $300. So we had to make some runarounds to get a replacement medication. I understand things happen, but a little frustrating on my end. I will say though, the staff is very kind and accommodating. The office is very accessible. Located in the James Campbell building right across the street from Zippys and 7-11 Kapolei, parking is found underground for free. You take the elevators up, and it's just a short walk down the breezeway. I'm going to continue to give them a chance because they've kept open communication with me about what's been going on since day 1, and they've accepted their mistakes, which I can appreciate. read more

And as I was leaving, some other people were looking for the office. I Went to get some moles checked out. Thank God, everything is good, But they want to full body checks to make sure that there isn't anything hidden.. They offer a wide range of things. And they have a few doctors to choose from. This location is on the opposite side of the post office. Park under underneath in the free parking area. And take the elevator up, go out to the courtyard and make a right. The directions makes you think that the facility is on the outside of the center next to the park. It is on the inside of the center. read more

Dr. Justin Maio completed disregarded me having majorly abnormal moles. I had a black mole on my shoulder which brought up major concern to my mom, who has had melanoma twice. So I booked an appointment here. Dr Maio barely looked at my skin AND took a TRIPLE TAKE at my mole that I was concerned about and he said because of my age and me having OTHER BLACK MOLES it was fine. The other black moles he referred to were also later diagnosed as extremely abnormal by another different dermatologist who actually cared about my health and wellbeing. I had biopsies and once the pathology report came back, I had to have 4 inches of skin cut out of each site and stitched up. I expressed my concern to him being that I just had a baby who I even brought to my appointment and I wanted to make sure my skin was healthy so I could be around a long time for her. He disregarded my concerns because of my AGE. Young people get all kinds of cancer, hello?? The second appointment I had with him was just a "half scan" aka a half a** job. He didn't check any area of my skin that was under my clothes and barely looked at my arms and legs, didn't inspect ANY part of my skin, didn't ask me to turn around, didn't use any sort of light/mole microscope to look at any part of my body. He came in, talked to me for 10 minutes, then left and that was my "half check" like ???? what a waste of time. I ended up cancelling my next scan I had with him knowing it would be a waste of time and my concerns would be disregarded. Either you will need to absolutely advocate for yourself and your health here or go to another dermatologist who cares and actually checks your skin. you know your skin better than anyone. I'm so glad I went elsewhere or I would've had melanoma within a few months according to my other dermatologist and I would've needed more skin removed and this could've caused life long issues. NOT OKAY. I've included my pathology report from my other dermatologist but blocked out their info for privacy to show this really happened to me as I'm sure these people will be looking at their records when they see this review to make sure 1. I was a real patient at their office which I absolutely was and wasted $25 each time I came in co-pays and 2. nearly costed me severe health issues. It would be funny if in my record he noted that I brought up these moles multiple times even though he did absolutely nothing. But I'm sure no one from his office will care. DO NOT COME HERE. Edit to add: I keep adding a photo of my shoulder with my excision but I believe it keeps getting removed due to it being a bit graphic. Don't bother calling! They don't answer the phone. It's super hard to get in touch with an actual live person. It just rings and then you get an automated person stating to keep holding or leave a message. You get this for over 6 minutes and then it goes to their voicemail. Visited 30 November 2021 First of all, the suite numbers in complex are not sequential. On one side of the building, it goes from 193 to 187. Complete Dermatology's office is located at the backside (West side) of the second/middle building (Kapolei Building). It's directly across from the gas station/7 eleven, on the opposite side of the road. If you take a look at the directory (inside the first floor common area), it shows you a list of all the suite numbers for that particular building; it'snot very helpful. It would be better if it were a diagram with the different office locations. When the receptionist called to confirm the appointment, she did try to direct me to the office but it's not helpful if you don't know the point of reference. Just give your self enough time prior to the scheduled appointment to find the office on your first visit. After that, it should be easy to navigate to. There is ample Street parking and a parking lot across the street for the park. There is also an underground parking lot, but I have never used that. I can definitely see street parking being limited because of the nearby school and other businesses. Checking in was easy, we just had a few new-patients forms to fill out. The office space is a bit small, well, at least the waiting area. It got a bit busy while we were waiting so there wasn't enough seats for all patients + parents/guardians. I assume they sacrificed extra seating to adhere to covid protocols since there were divides and physical space between each seat. All the staff I saw were wearing masks and all visitors/ patients are required to wear a mask. The receptionist also takes everyone's temperature. We didn't wait too before being called back. The nurse took us to the treatment room then asked some questions regarding the reason for our visit (my nephew has keloid scars). After she gathered the data, she disappeared then reappeared with Dr. Justin. He did an exam and explained the treatment option. He answered a few questions from my nephew. He was patient and calm when responding. I can tell he tried to explain in a way my non-medically-trained 12 year old nephew could understand, but he struggled to find a simple, layperson way to explain it. He talked about concrete and lost even me! Haha! Anyway, of course they have to verify that the insurance will cover the treatment before they can do anything. For me there is only one word needed to describe my overall experience with this provider -- "disappointed." From my perspective and experience, after a while you become just another case and there is no individualized or personal sense of care. Then there's the most difficult task (should be simple) of just getting in touch with someone to talk with so you can make/change an appointment. Finally, their process of waiting the weekend before a Monday appointment to call and tell you they can't find your referral is just mind blowing and quite frankly unprofessional. I know that Hawaii is prone to higher cases of skin issues due to the intensity of the sun, so the number of patients is likely more than the required ratio of technicians at this provider in order to effectively handle the patient load. Bottom line, I would not recommend Complete Dermatology if you really want a personal level of care or a provider that is easy to reach. Fix the phone system and you might change my mind, but just a little. read more

This place is terrible. First off, the phone tag to get an appointment is ridiculous. My son was seen last August - October. They don't accept new quest patients. So I let them know he also has TRICARE as well, so we got accepted as new patient with TRICARE. (Also still having HMSA quest) My son did three appointments, once a month. Co pay was $30 with the tricare each appointment. On our last month they called ME to let me know that they would issue me a refund because the HMSA Quest covered the procedures. Refund of $90. See pictures below. Anyways I just tried to make another appointment for my daughter. Of course she explains the same thing, we don't take new HMSA clients. Cool, can we get excepted with the tricare. I'll pay the co pay. Nope, our policy changed. NO MA'AM, your policy is the same. But you failed to follow it. after getting prior approval from my insurance, I reached out to this office to set up an appointment. Unfortunately, the young lady who answered the phone didn't speak English, and was unable to answer my questions. I informed her that I was blind, and I wanted to know the layout of the building instead she gave me driving directions to the office. I asked for a supervisor and she refused to turn me over to a supervisor. At one point, she came back and pretended to be the supervisor. I will never know how I would be treated by a doctor since I'm gonna ask my PCP for a different referral. This office has terrible staff. look elsewhere! They have a low rating on yelp and I just experienced the reason why. Now I have to go through the hassle of finding another dermatologist when I haven't even seen this one for the first time. I called multiple times over two weeks and left a couple of voicemails and no one ever called me back. I decided to complete one of the forms on their website and a woman named Brittany called me back and she was so monotone and rude. Basically she just told me I had to call the Kapolei Office directly - which I had been trying to do! So seriously, I have no idea if they are food or not because I was never able to schedule an appt. My appt is 415pm and phone system is the not greatest, it actually suck i tried to call but not one answers and no one calls back. Background info: I've seen two different doctors at two different appointments with Complete Dermatology. I arrived 1/2 hr early for my 1:30 appointment as instructed, but the office was locked. I called their office to find out what was going on, but, as usual, the line kept ringing and ringing, so I ended up leaving a message. Then I noticed their hours on the door that their office is closed from 12:30 to 1:30 for lunch. This was something that the scheduler failed to realize or notify me about. I waited outside on a hot concrete wall for them to reopen. When their office finally reopened, I wasn't allowed inside because my temperature was too high...99.7*F. Umm, yes, I was sitting outside on a hot wall for half an hour, what do you expect? But regardless, 99.7*F is much lower than the current HNL COVID policy of 100.4*F, so I didn't know what the big deal was. Luckily (I guess?) the nurse told me I could wait and have my temperature taken after I've cooled down a bit. Unfortunately, there weren't enough seats in the waiting room (there were only 4) so I had to stand nearly the whole time I was cooling down. Half an hour (and three embarrassing temperature readings) later, I was finally allowed in an exam room. The same Temperature Nazi Nurse remained in the room the whole time I was being seen by the doctor. It was very uncomfortable and distracting, especially since I just wanted to get away from that nurse already. I'm not sure what Complete Dermatology's deal is with having multiple people in the room, but none of my other doctors (Primary Care, OBGYN, Dentist, etc) need a witness or secretary or whatever in the room. Great experience! My wife needed a mole checked out and I made an appointment here. Easier to make in person as trying to call them I never got called back despite leaving a few messages. But that is the only minus. The front staff was super friendly and helpful. Gave me all the new paitent paperwork to fill out ahead of time. Dr. Maia was great and removed the mole and scheduled a follow up appointment. He was easy to talk to as English is my wife's second language but he made things clear to her. Office is easy to find. Just stand and face the kapolei post office, do a left face turn and walk down the row of other businesses towards main road and it's near the end on the right. Brooke Garcia is SUCH a dream! She is a board-certified physician assistant who really knows her stuff and is just amazing at what she does. I went in for some issues with my leg and she had to do a biopsy on a specific area of my leg to find out what was going on with it. That had to have been one of the most painful needles I have ever had to endure, but her loving demeanor and constant "almost done, you're doing good" helped so much. I've been to other doctors on the mainland who had no idea what was going on and misdiagnosed me constantly. I cannot say enough good things about Ms Garcia and her staff! I visited this office for dark spots on my face, a mole and severe itching on my arm. Doctor Justin was amazing and I was very satisfied with his care. He explained to me very well on my problems. However, the lotion for the itch did not work so one week later I called this office and asked if Doctor Justin could prescribe something else for the itching. I had not received anything so I called again the next day. I spoke to Stacy whom could not even find my files. She kept telling me that I needed to schedule an appointment to see the doctor. I explained to her that I was just there a week ago. For while she could still could not find my records so I told her the exact date and time of my appointment. She then apologized and told me there was a glitch in the system and that she would relay the message to the doctor. The next day I still did not receive any new medication and in the meantime I'm scratching my itch raw. I also needed to call me internal medicine doctor to prescribe something. I am very upset with the staff in the call center and the Kapolei office. I do not recommend anyone to this office. I swear, i've been going to her for my blue light therapies for 6wks plus and my face and my hormonal acne (i'm still breastfeeding to top it off) has gone down tremendously. as you see in the pic shown. First of all, this place is impossible to find and the security guards are just as lost giving you directions. The staff are friendly and competent enough...unless you're awaiting a callback (I waited 1 month and no call back). The doctor (the one I saw, his first name was Justin) also didn't seem completely knowledgeable on the condition on my face or the back of my arm. The dark spot on my face he said he has no idea why it forms and didn't bother to offer any kind of treatment. When asked he said "sunblock wouldn't hurt" which seems a weird nonchalant answer from a dermatologist. For the abnormality on the back of my arm, he said the scar would be worse than the abnormality. Welp, ok then. My straw that broke the camel's back problem is that the doctor offered to refer me out if I did choose to remove the abnormality on the back of my arm then when I called back to schedule it, he said to come in again to redo the complete examination. Umm...I'm not sure what more you need to see after you've already measured and taken pictures of it. On top of that, the co-pay is not free. If you're looking for a procedure as well, I would not recommend this place either because they do not perform the procedure onsite, and the doctor you see is not the one to perform the procedure either. You're referred out to Mililani. Positives (of which there are few): the wait was not horribly long, 13 minutes from check in till I got into the room then the dermatologist only took about 5 minutes after that. I was referred to Complete Dermatology from my Primary Care Physician and I was seen by Brooke. I was treated like I was in the way. She answered my questions very abruptly and impatiently like I was stupid for asking them. The only reason I knew what she meant was because my son went to a dermatologist for the same thing and that doctor explained it very patiently and thoroughly so he could decide on what procedure he wanted. She did take care of the mole and that turned out all right. I also had a dark spot on my face that I wanted addressed and she said that I would have to live with it because taking it off would leave an ugly scar. It was a concern to me because sometimes it would itch underneath and I couldn't scratch it because of the spot. She said when that happened I should just put some cortisone on it. I suppose it was a good suggestion, but didn't need to said in a demeaning tone. The next time I needed to see a dermatologist, I asked for a different one. To avoid Compete Dermatology, drove all the way from Kapolei to Kapiolani and it was worth it. This (actual) doctor took care of the spot on my face. It took a whole 15 seconds and there was no pain and no scar. It was a simple procedure but Complete Dermatology didn't offer it. I wonder how Complete Dermatology chooses who they will be nice to and who they treat badly. I would have loved to experience what some of the good reviews have to say. If I could give zero starts I would. I have never had a worse experience with a medical care provider than Complete Dermatology Kapolei. I had my visit with Dr. Tagai Musaiv. He gave me a prescription to help with my melasma and it was called into the pharmacy on July 18. My medical requires a prior authorization for this medication from the doctor. Once they receive the prior authorization, my prescription will be filled. I was contacted by the pharmacy letting me know, and that they were reaching out to the doctor to have them call in the PA. The pharmacy was never able to get ahold of Complete Dermatology and gave up. As of today, July 31, Complete Dermatology Kapolei has still not called in the prior authorization as it has been confirmed by my medical insurance. For TWO WEEKS, I have repeatedly called Complete Dermatology Kapolei and have not gotten an answer every single time. No one answers the phone. I have left message after message, no one gets back to you. I even went down there in person, I drove from Mililani to Kapolei to speak with someone and let them know I've been trying to call and leave messages with no answer. They assured me it was going to be done and I left. And it still hasn't been done. I left a message with someone in their billing department who said she would send a message directly to the doctor and his assistant, and they did not get back to me. I was able to talk to someone in their call center miraculously who did the same thing, still no answer from the doctor or his assistant. I just received a text saying my bill is ready from my appointment. Why am I getting a bill when I haven't even received any care from this place? I'm looking into reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. This company is fraudulent and I would highly recommend staying far far away from them. Updating because I forgot to leave one, after getting my facial with Julia, a few days later a horrible bacterial infection had spread across my face from my facial. No it was not allergies it was an infection. My doctor said the tools used on my face were most likely not cleaned correctly! I was placed on antibiotics for 45 days! Had large swelling in my face and scabs it was the horrible experience. I now have a large scar on my face from place the infection started. To be honest I should have taken legal action. I love my PA Eric, I think he's fantastic, my gripe is about the phones and how no one EVER EVER answers them and the billing department is on a whole different spectrum. I had no idea I ever had a balance from 3 years ago because 1. I didn't get no statement mailed out to me( they insist it was) and 2. It's a beautiful office and I parked in the zippys parking lot and walked across the street at the stop light. My first time here and it was Good experience I haven't seen a Dermatologist for years since I was small girl. Office is very nice stuff are friendly and Dr Garcia was very nice and easy to talk to from the start. She removed my skin tags and didn't feel no pain she was quick and always ask if I was okay and ask if I needed a break.. if you are looking for a dermatologist she is good and help me a lot.
