Complete Dental Care is somewhere I will never go again. What I have been through with them is beyond comprehension and I have never been so upset and disappointed in my life with a dental facility.
It all started when I emailed several dental facilities covered under my insurance to see whether they did chairside relines. This started in September of 2024. Complete Dental Care was the only one that answered me back, so I made an appointment. I had a small sore from my bottom plate and it was my kids who recommended that I seek a reline as I had not had one in several years. My current dentures are over 25 years old and have, for the most part, served me well. But, yes, they were a little loose which is likely what caused the sore. In hindsight, I had had sores before...they cleared up in a few days and I should have just left well enough alone. But, off to the dentist I went.
Just for the record, several years ago, when I still lived in AZ, I had a soft reline done. It was sent out to be done and I received it back fairly quickly (within 24 hours). You see, I leave my dentures in my mouth all the time except to clean them. I know that this is frowned upon by most dentists, but it's my choice and it's what I want to do. I took off work for that reline and it was perfect....no issues, no problems.
Fast forward to September of 2024 where I show up at the dentists office and the tech proceeds to shove this stuff in my mouth that was gagging me and was getting very warm, almost hot. I am in tears, gagging and crying, and this tech was not at all sympathetic simply telling me it was almost done and left the room. She finally pulls it out of my mouth (and that hurt like hell) and she proceeds to start burring the rough spots. She had done a HARD reline....completely unnecessary as I had a soft reline already done. The burring and fitting went on and on. She asked me if I had considered getting a new set to which I replied that I couldn't afford that. Another tech overheard this, ran my insurance and came back and told me that they could do new dentures for the cost the insurance had quoted back to her with no out of pocket to me. Seeing as it wouldn't hurt to get a new set, I agreed. Meanwhile, I went back and forth to the dentist office numerous times to have the reline adjusted as I was getting multiple sores on both the top and the bottom. They also started to work on fitting me for the new dentures. I requested that the original tech not work on me as I didn't care for her attitude or lack of caring or compassion. On my first visit back to adjust the reline, she started on me and I told the other tech that I didn't want her there. From that day forward, I never saw her again.
I'm going to try to wind this up....they ruined my current bottom plate. I can't even keep it glued down completely through an entire meal. Small food particles frequently get up under it even with the glue in place and I have to stop eating because of the pain and make adjustments before I can finish eating. The new dentures?? Well, they aren't working. After quite a few adjustments with the wax mockup, they had the final dentures in March. He worked on them for over an hour because, well, they just didn't feel right. They feel much too big and, quite simply, feel like they don't come together properly, even though the "bite" was worked on repeatedly with the wax mockups. I honestly don't like the way they look either. No matter how many times I tried to explain this to him, either he didn't understand what I was trying to say or he felt he was doing it right and I was the problem. I have an overbite and wonder if he had tried to overcompensate for that as the top plate felt too straight up and down...hitting the bottom row of teeth exactly instead of the bottom plate going slightly under as my current dentures do. The top plate will not suction in at all (I have NEVER had to glue down my current top plate and still don't). The teeth are sitting in a denture cup with water on the bathroom sink and will likely sit there until I find a new dentist and see if there is anything that can be done about them. While I am grateful I wasn't out of pocket for any of this, I am quite sad that my old dentures were ruined (but I still have to use them) and the new dentures don't fit (and are sitting useless by the sink)and I don't know if I will ever get to use them. A friend of mine who worked in a dentist office for years told me I should take them back and refuse them. I am still considering that. What a complete waste of my time. read more
