I love Compel Fitness! The instructors are amazing. The tools they give you to succeed your goals are so useful and most of all , I feel the trainers actually care about you. I love the atmosphere and the mixed Team class courses. Each class is something new, painful but yet exciting! I'm seeing lots of results! I also have gained a lot of knowledge on how to lose weight healthily. I can't say why others have a issue with them. It seems like most complaints are from when there trying to cancel there membership, which I don't have plans on canceling my contract. Give them a try and form your own opinion. read more

This is fraud. Read all the reviews. There are hundreds of cases where people were deceived over and over and taken for thousands of dollars. It's one of the worst predatory engagements of corporate fraud I have personally ever witnessed. It's only a matter of time before a class action lawsuit shuts this business down permanently. Vance at Golds Gym in Willow Lawn is the one who scammed me. He sat me down and sold me on a package of personal training sessions at a set price. The total cost was around $380. It was actually a subscription service that renewed automatically and charged me $280 per month. I was seriously injured just after buying the sessions. It was also almost impossible to schedule one. I never did a single session and to date have been charged a total of $980. It's also almost impossible to cancel due to the agreement they have you sign, which is done on a tablet so you don't actually get to read it. Scam company scam scam scam, you will get charged if you sign up for the classes or not, they will chase customers down soon as they walk into the building. people need to stay away from that company. they will make sure they take your money. they couldn't even provide me with my measurements and weight-ins that I did over my time with them, very disorganized. I wasted my time and money with them they told me they come get my from one weight to another by the end of the year but I did it all on my own in 4 months without anyone of the classes. went to cancel my subscription/membership with them and was asked why. It was a great class and well organized. The instructor created a positive environment with motivational support. She is very knowledgeable and educated the class as to which muscle groups were being worked and how to maximize the exercises to get the best results. read more

I signed up for their cheapest program for $50 a month and got a single one on one workout session in 6 months, every time I tried to call or text them they'd tell me to get back with them later, multiple times they agreed to meet me at a specific time and place and never showed up, I told them when I signed up the times I would be available to train and they agreed but were never available, they will take your money and give you nothing, they are a GARBAGE business that treats their customers like dogshit, don't fall for it read more

When you sign the agreements, you are blind signing with a stylus on a pad that is separate from the computer, you are on the other side of the desk, so the representative is summarizing for you as you sign, and not summarizing openly and honestly I am finding out. My original plan was to do the workouts once a week, then I was convinced to bump it up to 2 times a week. At one point I had to do a medical freeze to care for my son who has special needs, we live 23 miles from the location and to make the class time (the only one that works is 6pm) the drive takes 1 hour. I also have a back injury, for which I have provided a medical note. Every time I call customer service I am treated poorly, with rudeness and sarcasm. When a person's circumstances change like mine have, a person should not have to be up against a brick wall to be treated fairly. They agreed to put my account back down to once a week for billing but are still billing me for 2 sessions because they say that I have to sign another 12 month agreement. I was charged $30 for the medical freeze, which I was not made aware that would happen. I have also cancelled my Golds Gym membership (location, back injury, caring for my child who has special needs and multiple appts each week) and am being told I cannot use Compel if I am not a member of Golds. read more

If I could give it 0 I would. I was charged $100 3 times in the month of November and twice in December and every month before that. I was lead to believe it was part of Gold's gym WHICH ITS NOT. Don't waste you time or hard earned money. If you want to cancel you have to physically go in and do it you can't do it over the phone. When you call the number to talk to anyone about any issues they just tell you to go in and talk to them. It takes 30 days to cancel your membership and there's a ridiculous buy out fee of over $300. This company is committing fraud against people just trying to get their health back. THIS IS NOTHING AGAINST THE TRAINERS. All if the trainers I've meet are really nice but the corporate company is a POS. read more

Compel fitness has been the worst experience I have ever gone through. I've stuck it through for almost year because I was already wrapped up into their BS. But I highly recommend that YOU DO NOT sign up with compel fitness. You will have better luck finding a freelance trainer at any gym who are more than willing to accept a new client. Compel trains their employees to reach out to be client emotionally and they rush over all the fine print of the contract. Even compel trainers would recommend you find a freelancer just don't ask them while they are clocked in. The program is poorly ran. Instagram trainer videos would help you better than compel. The person who signs you up could care less about you after they get your signature. Even the trainers will tell you this is all true if you get them off the clock. Compel Fitness is not honest. They failed to reveal that they are a separate company than the Gold's Gym they are located in. I was told I could cancel anytime with a 30day notice. The contract was all on a tablet, and I did not receive a hard copy. When I went to cancel was told I had a 32 week contract and would have to pay $250.00 to buy out the contract. If I had been told it was a 32 week commitment would not have signed. Stay far away from this scam company. read more

I give a 1 star review because the trainers do work you out at White Oak but the company itself is deceitful. They don't tell you up front that it is a 12 month contract. I was told I'd be able to cancel whenever I wanted and when sending in my cancellation request for medical reasons, it wasn't until the day after my next payment was due that my request was approved. I received no refund and was told that I was still obligated to pay until the approval letter was received by management. Get a real one on one personal trainer and do not use this company. read more

My wife signed up through Golds Gym on Laburnum Ave in Richmond, Va. We were told initially that the training would cost $29 per month. After discussing this, we decided that it was reasonable and we would proceed with the training. The very first billing should have been an immediate red flag as it was not the original $29 that had been discussed, but was a charge of $49. Followed by a charge of $29, then another $29 within hours... I just assumed these were sign up fees and that maybe it was a misstep in communication, so I didn't question it, just moved on with the process... My wife had one consultation with a "nutritionist" who was supposed to set up a diet plan for her and get right back with her. Three weeks later, and another $29 charge, still no diet/meal plan. My wife sent multiple emails to the "nutritionist", never receiving a response. She then visited the gym, only to find out that he no longer worked there, as well as the initial "trainer" that had gotten her set up. Like many others, she was not informed that the payments were bi-weekly, not monthly, so as the charges came we were unaware and our account was overdrawn... When reaching out to the gym about this, we were then informed about the bi-weekly billing. At this point, my wife had had enough with the lack of communication and discrepancies in billing amounts, she requested out. The response was awful, she was told that she was "only paying $14.50 every two weeks, and that was cheap"... pretty professional... This is where I decided to get involved, I called and spoke with Leandra in the corporate office who was supposed to email management informing them of our situation and get back with me within 3 business days... A week later, I still hadn't heard anything so I decided to call back, it was at this point that I was told "there was nothing they could do for me, we still had four training sessions available and they would set us up with a new nutritionist"... Far too little compensation for far too much confusion and headache... Currently we have been billed $165. Never received the first training session, never received any correspondence regarding nutrition. I was tossed around between three different representatives in the customer service department this afternoon and even hung up on by the third... The end result being told there was nothing they could do for us, either continue on with the one year contract that we weren't informed off(which would total up to around $700 when it was all said and done) or pay a $250 cancellation fee. Absolutely terrible customer service, horrible communication, and extremely misleading associates at the gym and in the corporate customer service department. I, in no way, shape, or form, would ever recommend anyone ever use this company for any services or training. They are a disgrace... read more

Called Compel Customer service number to inform the rep that my purses had been stolen and I need to bring I. The new card when I received it. I then asked her if she could waive the twenty dollar late fee that was applied today. She said she doesn't waive fees she only takes payments and that I would need to honor line to do that. I also informed her that I hadn't been In since my car accident in January. But one time after but couldn't return due to back concerns still and I didn't break the contract because I simply have too much going on right now. I then asked her to waive the late fee once again, she said she I'll have to do it on line. I then asked her if I could go into Compel and they do it and she stated no it has to be done on line. I then asked her if I could go in and sign up, I should be able to go in and the rep call the headquarters and get the fee waived , she kelp saying on line. I then asked for the retention line and headquartered line she said they don't have one. I informed her she was not a good rep and I will find it, she didn't even ask me if I was ok nor did she say am I ok now and she would try to help. Worst customer service ever! read more

Like a lot of people, I was led to believe that these training services were complimentary to my Gold's Gym membership. I had a great experience with the personal trainer during my first "complimentary" session. But after an hour of great conversation and a short workout, the sales pitch started... and I realized that I had just shared my personal goals and motivations with someone who would then use them to manipulate me to purchase an expensive plan that I didn't even realize I was going to need. Thankfully I mustered the courage to say no to the trainer, but left the gym feeling overwhelmed, exploited, and frustrated. The cost should've been transparent from the start. Otherwise, I definitely would not have shared so much with this trainer (although, to emphasize, the trainer was great but the business model exploits really vulnerable people who are trying to make positive change in their lives). i had joined the gym about 4 weeks ago and in the behinning of the first week i had got a call about an assesment. i went to them gym and asked about the assesment and to my surprise i was met with a trainer we did a 15 min workout i explained my goals and all he did was just repeat my goals back to me like 5 different times. i thought about it after signing up and a day afterwards i talked to the trainer to cancel because my finances wouldnt be able to afford it and the gym would be enough i never did any of the workouts nor any of the training he didn't explain to me that I would need to sign a cancellation paper. After not hearing from the trainer for a week I decided to go up to the gym and talk to someone I got handed a paper and told to sign but it might take a while for them to cancel it she explained the cancellation fee and the cost to cancel and I was shocked it was 795 I looked at her and said "I'm not paying that" and I meant it I'm not stupid why would I pay 795 on a person to cancel. I haven't heard from them since I mean they still charge my account but it's been closed and I just switched my gym to be billed to a different card read more
