I've been seeing chiropractors for my entire adult life, and Compassion Chiropractic is one of the best I've been to. I have chronic neck issues, and many chiropractors have had limited success in providing relief - but Dr. Chen has been able to adjust it every time. Everything still applies, and I still think Dr. Chen is the best chiropractor that's had the pleasure of working on my falling-apart-body.] I started seeing Dr. Chen after getting daily headaches that an extra cup of coffee couldn't cure. He did an initial diagnoses, and confirmed that, yes, I indeed spend way too much time sitting in front of a computer and have developed bad posture - causing excessive strain on my neck muscles that somehow cause pain to spread up my neck to the side of my head. He recommended that I change my seating position while working and driving, and suggested exercises that I do regularly to relieve mental and physical tension. Adjustments wise, he is the best. Gentle yet firm, and pops everything back in its right place. As another reviewer mentioned, Dr. Chen uses a variety of tools and techniques, and finishes every session with electrical stimulation that puts me in a relaxed state for the rest of the day. Update on review - I recently tweaked my back again and thank goodness for Dr Chen and his staff. They accommodated me right away when they knew I was in so much pain. So glad to have someone as good as he is in my area. When I met Dr Chen and his staff 4 months ago I was suffering from severe back pain and unable to work or do any kind of physical activities. Dr Chen took X-rays of my back and showed me what was wrong and how he would fix the problem. Long story short I am now able to work and even exercise regularly with minimal back pain due to his treatments. I have suffered from mild-moderate head/neck/shoulder tension and back pain for years and have tried various treatments that have helped temporarily. Long story short, we were rear-ended by a large heavy duty truck while stopped a red light. My wife suffered noticeable neck and back injury while i suffered shoulder, left arm and back injury. We were highly referred to visit Dr. Chen for rehab therapy. Our first visit appointment was easily made over the phone. The front desk assistant was very courteous and accommodating. During the first visit, Dr. Chen took thorough examination of our injuries. He took time to explain our expectations for future visits. During our next visit, to our pleasant surprise, Dr. Chen walked us through very detailed x-ray images to point out the area of the rehab focus and also allowed us to visually see the extent of the injuries. Already 1 full month into the sessions, my wife and I already feel the direct impact of Dr. Chen's therapy. My neck pain and headache has subsided noticeably. {My first review for Compassion Chiropractic (before they moved) was two years ago; now I still go to clinic all the time and it's still my favorite Chiropractic clinic!} Dr. Chen is the best chiropractor that I have ever met! He is a doctor with enthusiasm, professionalism, and friendliness. I'm only 21 years old right now, BUT I had a severe back pain since 18 years old. I know it might sound funny and stupid; however the truth is that I always felt like my body functions as a 40-year-old lady. I started working in a bakery back in high-school; it was a tough job because I had to stand for 8-hour straight without taking a break. Wrapping a bread in a same posture and movement everytime was SUPER TIRING and ANNOYING. After working in a bakery for 2 years, I decided to quit and work in a restaurant as a server. It was even more tiring and it harmed my back a lot; sometimes I can't even sleep well at night because of the back pain and neck pain. (I know right!! I am only 21 years old!!!) I had been to a chiropractor that was being promoted on LivingSocial; however, that was not a very pleasant experience because their facilities are old, receptionist was not nice to you, and all they want from a patient is money. After the bad experience I had in that chiropractic (for privacy concern, I am not going to tell what's the name of the office.. but usually when Livingsocial has a deal for chiropractic package, don't expect you will have a good experience...) I was really disappointed at chiropractors in general. After hearing my bad experience at a chiropractic clinic, a friend from church recommended me to visit Dr. Chen's office. I'm so glad that I can still meet person like Dr. Chen who really cares about the patient and tries his best to adjust you. The office facilities are new and clean, and the music is pleasuring and relaxing. At first I was kinda worried since I'm still in college, and I'm a poor student... Good thing was that after being advised, I found out UCI student health center actually does cover for a chiropractic referral!! I used to get constant neck pains and headaches. The pain was so severe, I was taking migraine meds and Tylenol daily which did not help. The next step I was considering was acupuncture but was too terrified so I decided to give chiropractic a shot before doing so. I found Dr. Chen on Yelp. I like how he doesn't pressure you into buying a life time membership and allows me to schedule appointments as needed. (Which by the way, a previous chiropractor's office I visited before I found Dr. Chen tried to sell me into a lifetime membership with them.) Upon the first visit with Dr. Chen he will be very thorough all/educate you and also give insight about him. I liked that, knowing my Doctor on a personal level always breaks the ice and puts you at ease. Dr. Chen shared with me that he studied acupuncture and is knowledgeable with pressure points. Some of the adjustments Dr. Chen will use includes pressure points which I really like since I feel like I'm getting both an adjustment along with some acupuncture/acupressure therapy. I've been seeing Dr. Chen for almost 9 months now mainly because I believe adjustments every once in a while is necessary similar to tune ups or dental visits. If you have been suffering any type of back or neck pains and is considering acupuncture, give Dr. Chen a visit before doing so. You won't be disappointed. During the first appointment Dr. Chen and his staff do a complete evaluation of your current health (which includes x-rays). Then, at the next appointment, he goes over all your x-rays and provides a complete report of findings (ROF). He really explains everything to make sure you understand your current state, why it might be that way, and what to do to fix the issues at hand. I felt really taken care of and not once did I feel like he was trying to squeeze money out of me. I've been going to Compassion Chiropractic for about 8 months now and this review is long overdue. I initially came in because I had messed up my wrist practicing yoga and after months it was not getting any better at all. I'm not really the kind of person to reach out when I need help, I'd far prefer for things to just get better on their own, (wouldn't we all :) ) but I was desperate. I heard about this place through my co-worker who had just gotten through her first couple of visits at Compassion Chiropractic and raved about the experience. When she showed me the paperwork she was sent home with and I noticed it included wrist stretches, I thought, maybe they could help. Since I have been coming to the office I have been treated by Dr. Geoff. At the first visit he took a detailed assessment and x-rays, and at the second visit he went over his findings, recommended stretches, specific exercises, and did an adjustment. Everything was so thorough! He even emailed me with what he went over, including pictures of my not so straight spine. Fast forward to the 6 week mark, and my wrist pain had gone from excruciating when I would bend it, to about 85% normal. (It did eventually recover to 100% as long as I continue to stretch it.) The curve in my neck had also improved which has resulted in a lot less neck pain and stiffness. This is all fine and great, and definitely reason enough to visit Compassion Chiropractic and never leave, but I've found there are definitely other reasons why this place is amazing. It's all about Dr. Geoff and Dr. Chen. Dr. Geoff's presence is just so calming. He is very understanding, incredibly attentive and overall just cheerful. You can feel that he cares and will always take the time you need. If you ask a question, he will make eye contact, answer your question, and then educate you further. He does this all while digging his elbow into the most sensitive areas of your back, or while pressing every last ounce of air out of your lungs - but you know you will walk out of there feeling better, so it's okay. In all seriousness, Dr. Geoff is the first Dr. I have seen in a long time and I'm so grateful I found such an accepting and kind person to treat me at this very humbling and vulnerable time in my life (injuries are no fun!) In fact, he was very much a catalyst for a lot of other positive health changes that I've made these last 8 months. Support can be an amazing thing and that is what you will find with Dr. Geoff. Dr. Geoff also treats my husband. Physical therapy had only gotten him so far, but his shoulder and knee have felt tremendously better since he's been coming in for regular adjustments. I've been adjusted by Dr. Chen a couple of times as well and you can't help but just love the guy. You can hear his laugh throughout the office and when Dr. Chen laughs, you laugh. One time he massaged my forearm which was one of the most painful experiences of my life, but then he said something funny, and we both started to crack up, which quite possibly prevented me from crying. I feel like this tactic is intentional :D He will ask if you have been stretching, show understanding when you have not, and then remind you that it will help, and that taking a nice long walk also helps :) Love him. To round this out, here are a few more things to note. They are open until 7PM most nights. They are open on Saturday mornings. They will text you with your appointment times. They are not mean when you cancel, reschedule, or are running 5 minutes late. And they are vocally appreciative of you choosing them among any other chiropractic office available to you. Bottom line, they are the best. If you are in pain, make an appointment, they can probably help with the pain, and then you as well can experience the additional benefits of being in the presence of Dr.'s who truly do care about you.
