I left my pedals at our last rental in Tuscany. They supplied me pedals for no extra cost. Rode around the lake 100mi/160km. I arrived back at the shop 45 minutes after closing and they were still waiting for me, Grazie Mille. I expected to be charged for an additional day. I was wrong!! The bike cost me 20 euros for the day. Don't look any further for a great bike shop with exceptional service.

I own a Pedego e-bike that I ride in a mountainous area, so I assumed I could easily do this tour…read more The e-bike they provided for me had no power assist going up hill. 1. Make sure you understand your guide before taking the tour. If your guide can not properly show you how to use the e-bike and someone else has to interpret, get a new guide. 2. There are no bike lanes and your tour is on a busy narrow highway full of cars and trucks. It can be very unsafe. I was forced into a guard rail by a large truck. Our guide was so far up the hill, that she did not see this. When she saw me stopped she offered me her bike, because she said her bike was better. Our guide had a better bike than me!!!!!!!???? 3 The bikes do not have rear view mirrors, so you do not see the trucks until they are upon you. 4. The first part of our trip was 4 miles uphill with no reprieve. At our first stop we asked our guide why she lied to us about the uphill climb. She originally told us things would level off after the first curve. Her answer to us was that she had to lie to us, because if she told us the truth we wouldn't take the tour. 5. After 4 miles straight up a hill, we now had to have our brakes on for another 4 miles down. All of a sudden our guide stopped. She used no hand signals to warn us. Because my bike was somewhat too big for me and I am going downhill, I fell before I could stop. Sadly it resulted in 2 broke ribs and a broken thumb. It could have been averted if our guide used hand signals or told us about the route beforehand. I am still not sure why we stopped, as there were no stop signs. 6. After falling and not enjoying having to share the road with heavy traffic, we told the guide we were quitting. By the way, the tour guide did have a first aid kit that had supplies to help with the scraps from falling. 7. The company van picked us up and took us back to the e-bike office. We were met with the owner who NEVER asked me how I was. She had to know what happened, beside I had bandages on me. We paid the full price for this tour this very dangerous disappointing tour.

I also hired a bike for about three days so I could do some amazing rides in the area including the Ghisallo. You can hire fantastic bikes for a good price. Even the 'mid rage' are brand new Bianchi's equipped with Di2. They make sure you are all fitted and set up before you ride off. They have every thing you need at the shop also, clothing, gels, drinks etc. You can do a bunch of ride sections you will see in the Tour de Lombardy and Tour de Italia in the area. Pietro usually takes hard core bicyclists anywhere they want to go, and the roads he chooses are often stunning, breathtaking views that leave you in awe. You can always go at your own pace, or push yourself. I was not a biker on a bike. I rode a Vespa as I did not have the motivation or the energy to physically "ride a bike". I did follow along and had some great conversations with Pietro along our rides together. He is truly a gem! He knows where the best food is hands down, takes you to many different cities to explore, he knows the history of all of the towns and villages he brings his patrons to...and believe me the food he picks OMG!!! Every meal was truly magnificent. Pietro often delights in telling stories of his adventures as he is a very good athlete, he has seen it all. He is charming and funny-and truly wants to share his love of his country with others. You can't find a better tour guide! If you need an amazing tour guide to take you from town to Town, to help you book hotels and suggest meals, shop for that special Someone, or even go Wine tasting-Pietro will give you the full experience and he speaks the language so you are always going to have fun. I don't drink wine so that is lost on me but...) if you like wine-he knows what to pick as well for Tasting purposes. Lake Como Cycling is not just for cyclists, it is also a business that allows you, the costumer to choose where you want to go. What you want to do. He has a big van that he uses to carry your luggage and get you from town to stunning town. The attendant was rude, held…read moreup a bizarre document with fine print that read 'you must show your international drivers permit' to rent from us. I asked to see the full doc (what legal document is he holding??) and he got angry. The he proceeded to write down a dollar figure on a piece on paper and slide it across the counter. Not kidding. He said he would look the other way if we paid him an additional 210 euro, nearly double the cost of the rental. He insulted me (a woman) in front of another italian renter thinking I could not understand him. He yelled at me. He asked for my 'husbands' credit card, though I rented the car myself. He did that twice. I said I didn't want to rent from them, and he angrily tore some paper in my face (??) as if to say 'you are DONE.' I asked for a receipt/proof stating I decided to cancel my rental with them and did not take a car. He said no. I got charged $70 on my credit card anyway, after our trip, after I rented a different car from a different rental place with no problem. There was another family at B-rent (like us, couple, 2 wiggly kids) being bribed the same way when we arrived. They were also furious. They were from Israel (outside the EU). They gave up and gave B-rent the money and drove away. Another Italian family seemed to rent fine. Avoid the discrimination and insult of this place-- it's a joke. In the end we went back to the main airport at Linate and rented from Locauto with no problems, nice car (Audi), fair price, no bs. Locauto is a far superior car rental company than B-rent at LINATE. They are also located at the airport (not off site like B-rent, where you have to take a bus to get to them).
