Just another greedy corporation charging too high prices! I asked why long johns were so expensive and was told that they are sportswear. When I disagreed with their pricing policy I was told to leave and I'm no longer allowed to shop there. The managers are rude and make up excuses as they go. Contacting their corporate offices accomplishes nothing as they don't usually return phone calls. I definitely do not recommend this business. I also want to mention that the store's retail area was recently cut in half. The result is narrower aisles and less inventory. read more

The store is absolutely huge and very organized. We drove from Michigan to check this place out on our way to the east coast. Honestly, it wasn't worth the pit stop. We spent about a half hour looking around & saw everything. Most of the items are clothing, but they are very organized. (We weren't looking for clothing. Your time would be longer if you are looking through all the racks.) That is impressive. The clothes and other textiles were priced fair, but there was just nothing very nice. A lot of Wal-mart & Target brands. The shoes were in two sections. There are racks of the cheap shoes, and then by the cases up front there are the supposed nice shoes that were priced almost retail prices. There were some checkered Vans slip-ons that were priced the same as a new pair I just bought. That's insane! They were nowhere near new condition. There is a nice book section, but it is a lot of self help and airplane books. Nothing really substantial. Home goods were priced nicely, but there wasn't really anything exciting. The coolest thing about the place was the front part of the store has a lounge for people to buy a drink and snack and rest from shopping without leaving. It has some tables and chair. It is a cute, nice little spot. All that being said, I would intentionally go back to this place, but it was a unique experience. read more

Terrible experience. The customer service is subpar. They don't care about people. They just care about enforcing illogical rules and being right above all else; they are condescending and passive aggressively rude. The employees are the type of people who would call the secret police on their neighbors. Don't bother trying to get the student discount while shopping for a school-age child who is actively in school, unless you plan to drag them there after school with you to prove their existence. Otherwise, you might be "reselling the merchandise" if the child is not present. I'll give a shoutout to the men who work in back with the heavy furniture, however, as they were nothing but nice. Kudos to them for being human. read more

I'm not sure how a place can be so big but still have nothing. Honestly, the vastness of the building is a real bait-and-switch. Many of the racks were bare, and unfortunately for me, there were hardly any men's sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, nor were there much of those in boys in women sizes. These were the things I was looking for. For a store that size, there was hardly any furniture or home goods. No electronics, cameras, etc. And the little items of the value or interest they might have, they mark up in price and place on special tables. I honestly think there is more to offer in any Goodwill I've ever been in. All was nicely arranged by color and it was certainly a clean place. I have to say, though, it kind of smelled like a bathroom sewage situation when we walked in--like how it smells when you try to cover it up with an air freshener or something. Ugh. We stopped through coming home from a trip, going a bit out of our way to do so. Reading the reviews gave me the impression that this place was a worthwhile stop. That's why I felt the need to write this; I wanted possibly to save others the trip if they, too, planned on going out of their way. Oh, they're definitely piping in that Christian music in a very serious way--in case that isn't your thing. This didn't necessarily surprise me, but it doesn't feel very welcoming to someone in the LGBTQ+ community and/or someone not aligned with the conservative message/Christian faith. Drove through and stopped at Community Aid thrift store back in July. I'm a reseller, and so I do enjoy visiting thrift stores outside of my local area. Although I didn't have too much time to explore, I did notice that this place is clean and well organized. I noticed much of the clothing was organized by color. Large, clean, well lit store in space that was formerly a Value City with lots of parking. This store, of every thrift store I've ever stopped at, has the LARGEST selection of clothes. HUGE Women's and Children's section, with a decently large Men's section. Organization in some areas was by color instead of size, which I found made searching harder. Ok selection of books. Other dust items are on shelves around the far walls. Some potentially valuable/more expensive items are kept behind glass up front. If you are looking for clothes, yes come here, other items are hit or miss. read more

I love this thrift store! I can leave there with a couple big full bags of clothes for $20. So many items with tags still on them. So many brand name items. Lots of plus size women's clothes! They also have a lot of Nic Mack's, wall art, books, and some furniture and small appliances. All Bibles in book section are free. Many 50% discount days such as Tuesdays for anyone over 55 and everyone on Wednesdays. read more

This place is huge! It's well organized, has great prices and selection. I drove an hour out of my way to get here and after seeing it and finding exactly what I was looking for, I would have happily driven twice as far! This is my favorite thrift store ever! I live in NY, but visit Selinsgrove PA and Each time I visit, I won't go back home until I have gone shopping here:) it's huge, but amazingly organized. I don't have patience to dig through stuff the way you have to in some places. I'm going this tomorrow and I can't wait. I'm a veteran thrift store shopper from the Philly area. For me, the thrill of thrifting is finding a quality piece on the clothing racks or a treasure amongst the trash in the housewares department. I've visited twice and walked out empty handed both times. It's not for lack of trying, because this place really is huge! Wow! In all my years of thrifting and buying second hand I have never,ever been to a store of this size. To say this place is enormous is an understatement, it is literally the size of a superstore Walmart and than some! The organization and quality is what sets Community Aid apart from other second hand stores and although this place is huge it didn't disappoint. I dare you to find something with a stain or in the wrong place. I can't even image the undertaking involved behind the scenes to keep this place up to par. I honestly felt a little overwhelmed. Although I had a list of things to look for in mind just the fact that there is sooo many isles of each category made me lose my sense of focus. I breezed through in about an hour and got a few things on my list but honestly you need to plan on staying for several hours to properly maneuver around this store. For an area that isn't heavily populated I wonder where they even get all their inventory. And the store was spotless. The dressing rooms (tons of em) were also spotless. The register line was swift and the employees friendly. Selinsgrove itself and the surrounding area didn't capture my interest enough to ever go back...but their Community Aid did. I WILL be back, with several hours allowed to really shop hard core. read more

I have been going to the Community Aid in Selinsgrove for years as I traveled between Maryland and New York. Actually planned my arrival/departure times around their schedule as much as possible. I have bought blankets, goose down alternative comforters, sweaters of all kinds, slacks and my dresses worn for teaching. I always took something home for my mom, as well. I loved to surprise her!! Two years ago, for my birthday, I finally found the perfect leather coat. It fits wonderfully and was less than $10!! I have recently moved to Pennsylvania about two hours North of Selinsgrove and I am already planning a road trip there. I know I will not be disappointed! It would suggest that you set aside at least 2 hours to visit this store. Come with a list but most importantly come with an open mind! There is something here for everyone sometimes you just have to search a little bit more. read more

An fantastic, enormous store with a hell of a drive behind it. Sometimes with a confederate flag waving on many residences and businesses, I almost turned around several times, but it was worth it. A huge, clean, well-organized store (and filled with people that looked like me!) with numerous items for my needs. The prices were just right and if I felt an item was too expensive, all I had to do is check the color tag to see if it was 50% off. For anyone who says it's too expensive, look... this is a charity and they have to make money. If you don't like the prices on the day you are there, come back on a Wednesday when pretty much everything is half off. Your money and donations "are" helping local charities so you may need to get over it. I'm an Eco-Decorator and I love that I can decorate for myself and clients with just one pass. Last time I fully decorated a bedroom with just one visit. My clients were ecstatic! I'm not a religious woman and hearing about the cross, the word, the blood, or anything remotely submissive religious annoys me, so if you are the same...bring headphones with your favorite audiobook or music. I passed by this thrift store heading to NY last year and on the way back to Virginia, we stopped on a Wednesday and bought many wonderful items for my child. The price was amazing and I was so blessed because we didn't have a lot of money to spend on clothing. I will be heading back to NY for a wedding in October and will definately be stopping to buy more clothes for my family. I wish there were thrift stores like this is Virginia. All we have is Goodwill where their prices are very high. I am very greatful and thankful that this store helps out so many in need.. Thank you and we will be visiting again very soon... Started shopping at this store when it first opened. Found many good bargains - and their 50% off days were the best! However, as time passed, their prices kept creeping up and up. Lately, I have been quite disappointed with pricing and have cut my shopping way back. It's important to support the community and I've both donated and purchased. Very rude worker. We drove through on the way to NY stopped got stuff and wanted to go back on the home to VA. We wanted to grab something that we didnt pick up the first time. We walk in the guys at the door was like we close in 10 mins. Which was fine because we knew right where we needed to go. Then we were stopped by another worker and he said we are closed. I was like your hours are till 9. He just kept arguing with me that they were closed. And, to come back tomorrow. We then said we live 3 hours away. I was like the item is 10 feet away. Just kept arguing. Then he said the register closes at 9. Then I said there is no reason I cant grab what I came in for real quick it would take 2 seconds. He then was like go get it then. I was like I would have been out of here already if you didnt sit here and argue with me. Needless to say we didnt spend any money because of that guy. read more

I have been a thrift'er for more than 20 years now. Decided to go there this past week. The store is clean and well kept up after. I was so happy to see the size of the store. You can find a deal if you're looking for it. You can find enough tags of the color that is on sale for $1 to make it worth it. Downsides: there are parts that are totally disorganized; example is the sweatshirts are haphazardly mixed in with the long sleeved shirts. Laughable is that some are in men's and some in woman's even though most are unisex. This would not be an issue but with the size of this store it it ridiculous. Some things like shoes are higher than any other thrift store I have ever seen. with some it's comparable to new. Got to the register to find out there's a limit on shoes. To top it off, the majority of my cart was the $1 color tag, to get home an hour away and check my receipt to the tags to see that 1/2 of my items weren't discounted. If it wasn't for the negatives I would have given it a 5 star but just can;t do it with the negatives. read more

UPDATE: Since my last review the store started organizing everything by size. This is now my FAVORITE Thrift Store in the region! -- This is a neat, tidy, and extremely well stocked thrift store. They give 50% off for seniors (55 +) on Tuesdays and 50% off for family day on Wednesday. Except for the current tag most everything in the store including bric-a-brac is 50% off on those days. Although the current tag is fairly prevalent the prices are generally quite reasonable for thrift. The store is affiliated with American Red Cross and seems to have a strong Christian affiliation with contemporary Christian music playing while you shop. However what drives me crazy about thrift shopping is when stores decide to organize by color. WHO SHOPS BY COLOR?!! The store would, I suspect triple or quadruple sells if they organized things by size. The clerk explained that this would be too much effort for their staff. But it seems to me that if things were orderly this could be done while stocking. read more
