I always find really good things at this community aid location. It's always very clean. The staff is very helpful and I always leave finding exactly what I needed and more. read more

This isn't my favorite community aid in the area - the staff at the Harrisburg store are friendlier and it's easier to find parking there. With that said, this is one of my favorite thrift store chains in the state. I miss when they did $1 clearance tags and hate that the store is constantly being shifted around (please bring back the plus size section!!) but the deals are good. I go on Mondays since I'm a healthcare worker, Wednesdays when it's 50% off most tags for everyone, and on Thursdays since I'm a student. Tuesday there is a discount for seniors. I've found lululemon and other brand name clothes, home decor, and kitchen items here. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Donation staff was rude and refused my donation. Degraded me and said I was "inconsiderate" for my large donation of name brand items that I could have resold myself for thousands of dollars. Their loss ‍ read more

I love stopping by the community aid on a Wednesday for half off, though their prices have gone up over the years it's still my favorite thrift store! The Christian radio station is a pleasure. Start is helpful and friendly read more

Tried to buy some boots they had on the "special" display racks. They couldn't find the other one, no doubt in my mind an employee hid the other one so they could buy it later. Why even put the other shoe out then? Place is also overpriced. read more

I love me a Community Aid and so far to date pride myself on having been to all of their locations. While I don't get to this one as often as I'd like it's well run and as organized as the others. Be sure to note the color of the day - those items are only $1! Organization and sorting is top notch and rarely if ever do you find something out of place or with condition issues. You also don't need to bring your own bags or be charged for one! Parking is convient in the adjacent lot and there's a Goodwill directly across the street for one stop thrift shopping. SIDENOTE: This location has less of a selection of hard goods, but good amount of clothing and lamps. read more

I visited this store for the first time this past weekend and was totally amazed at how well the merchandise was organized! Great selection of clothing and household items. Store was very neat and clean and employees were very friendly. Will certainly be back! read more

Since when did this "donation center" become upscale? Went to drop off some things like I have been doing for several years. When I put my things in the cart, Mr. Receiver started going through my stuff. Told me he could not accept a Princess House crystal punch bowl set (still in the box) and another tote fo household items. Radio, clock, answering machine etc. because they weren't quality item's. So let me get this straight, I'm giving you items, free none the less and you're refusing them because in his eyes they are not "quality ". Bullshit, never again will I donate to this cause!!! Glad he didn't look at the 2 suits, they weren't even Valentino. WTF, knucklehead. read more

Always enjoy looking for a good deal. They have very nice used clothing. They are 100% nonprofit

I've been to two of the Community Aid stores - one in Mechanicsburg and the new one in Harrisburg. Their discount days are outstanding, but the Wednesday 50% off days means that the stores are incredibly crowded. Sometimes the line snakes throughout the Mechanicsburg store. That's bad because the aisles are narrow, leaving no room for shoppers. I often find a lot of good things, and go home with multiple bags, happy to have found bargains that benefit charities. The Mechanicsburg store is usually crowded and sometimes disorganized. They play Christian music at an incredible volume, which I find irritating (the volume, not the music). The music volume is the worst part about shopping there. The carts (if you can find one on a Wednesday) are large and beat up, making it hard to navigate the narrow aisles, especially since I always seem to get the ones with the broken wheels. The Harrisburg store (on Lewis, off Penhar Drive) is difficult to find. That store is more organized and clean, with wider aisles. Their carts are new, the smaller kind with two baskets -- much easier to push around the store. The only problem I've found there is that they organize their shoes by color, not by size or type. So you'll find all brown shoes in one area, whether they're sneakers or high heels, and you'll have to look at each pair of shoes to determine size. I gave up on that. Thankfully, their music is not played at such an ear-piercing level, so I'll probably be shopping there more often. read more

I am an avid, utterly addicted thrifter, and since its opening, Community Aid has been one of my go-to locations when I'm in town. Positives: -Consistent, high quality finds -Friendly employees -Well organized -New items almost daily Negatives: -Greedy pricing I would give this store 5/5 stars if it weren't for its pricing. I understand charging more for designer items (Coach, Chanel, real fur coats, vintage items in immaculate condition). However, $7.99 for a USED Gap blazer that took me 15 minutes of digging to find? This is a charitable organization, right? How do individuals with limited means afford such prices? Christian, Jewish, atheist--irrespective of a religious mission, prices this high aren't affordable for individuals suffering from real poverty. More than once I have put back an item because I refuse to send the message that it is okay to charge $8.99 for outdated, generic, (USED) shoes from the mall. Buffalo Exchange--a private enterprise--charges the same prices for better, current trends and is a private business that isn't luring people in under the pretext of charity. Bashing aside, I can still occassionally find good items for somewhat acceptable prices, and I love the vaguely ecumenical partnerships. However, if Community Aid keeps raising its prices, I will start visiting the Salvation Army more since they've been around longer and have always maintained reasonable prices for the community. read more

I've always been a fan of Community Aid. This location is GIGANTIC for a thrift store and I think the prices are a bit better than the competition. They have clothing of ALL sizes. The different sections are clearly marked with signs and it's very rare that I find anything in the wrong section. The only reason I knocked a star off is because I wish they had some more furniture. Community Aid is the place to be on Wednesday. Everything is half off! Although I will say that it gets a little nutty with crowds of people. Make sure you take your hangers off before you get to the register area. read more

Fair prices. Everything was labeled well. Toys where a bit expensive. Great store overall.

Always love this Community Aid. The employees are always super helpful and happy to take care of you. Great positive experience. Everything is colored coded and in sizes so super easy to navigate clothing wise. Wednesday are 50% off so expect it to be a little crazy and for the lines to be long. Although I went around 4:30 and it went fairly quickly. Have fun shopping. read more

I have been to several community aids in our area. I shopped on Wednesday (1/2 off day!) at the Mechanicsburg location. The checkout line was very long, but moved very quickly. The staff was very friendly and helpful even with the large crowd of bargain shoppers. Their stock is very well organized. I always find many items to purchase. I love the fact that they are 100% nonprofit. I highly recommend shopping here! read more

So remember, it's a thrift store. You aren't going to get a Rodeo Dr shopping experience and if you go on Wednesday, be prepared for long lines. So why 5 stars? I've gotten like new Vans for $4, cast iron Lodge skillet for $5, and enough American Eagle, Hollister, and Nike t-shirts at $2.00 each to dress a teenage boy for an entire school year. Yes, you have to look things over, but that's part of being a thrift store shopper. Oh - and this review works for the Hanover, Mechanicsburg, and Lancaster stores. (Hanover is my personal favorite.) read more

You are ripping people off with your prices! Every time I go into your store I hear everyone complaining about your prices! The public is so good to you but you are not to them! read more

When they first opened the prices were in line with other thrift stores in the area. But over the last few months they have gotten very greedy. Its like they forgot they get the items for free from the public. I personally wont donate there anymore because of this. It sad when a store forgets why they started. I now only shop at the Goodwill and Salvation Army. At least Goodwill is consistent with their prices. I also recommend to my friends and family to not donate there anymore. read more

Spacious and organized Excellent variety of items - clothes, kitchen, electronics and higher value collectibles Quality of items is about a 7.5/10, very little "junk" or outright trash Ticketed pricing is good to fair with some overvaluing Offers discounts on select tags Turnover rate of items is great I come to this thrift store every time I'm in the area and find killer items more than half of the time. read more

We always enjoy looking for hidden treasure and other things we may or may not need & this store is a fun place to shop.
