The expense and amount that needed to be done was overwhelming and I needed to figure out a way to rein it in. Hiring a DJ for a Bar Mitzvah is a must, but it isn't as simple as that. The company is also responsible for providing the rest of the kids activities and, most importantly, keeping the party entertaining and flowing. Having recently moved to Connecticut and not put on an affair like this in over two decades since my wedding, I had no idea who to go to and how to keep in manageable. Also, living in CT and never having lived on Long Island, I obviously had no awareness of Great Neck Games. Randomly, an acquaintance at my Synagogue mentioned them in passing. It was honestly the greatest thing that happened to me in planning the event. Although, I am not saying it was cheap in any way, they worked with me on price and activities in order to keep the cost manageable. But, honestly, I still had no idea what to expect day of and how it would all actually take shape. The low hanging fruit was all done flawlessly. Everything that we ordered was delivered and the room looked beautiful. But, it was the little things and the people that made this event so much better than a run-of-the-mill Bar Mitzvah (see below for two of many amazing photos). Everyone was so happy and had such a great time and I credit DJ Keith Webb along with (I wish I knew their names) the MC and motivators. Keith was so much more than just a DJ. We had a separate room for the adults and he brought a speaker and playlist so they had music in that room. There was no charge for this as he just wanted to help make the event a success. He helped me negotiate the price on a couple of things we needed last minute to keep us within budget. He had a smile on his face the entire time that could fill the room. I am so grateful to him and wish I had the ability to hire him time and again. And, the MC...don't get me started on how great he was. I feel bad that I still don't know his name, but as you can imagine the day was a whirlwind and there was lots going on. He was simply special. He made every kid and adult feel like it was their day as well. But, he especially made my son feel like he should at a party of this magnitude. The motivators, two beautiful and talented women, were equally responsible for making both kids and adults feel engaged, happy and special. They were perfect. I am going to cut this here as it is crazy long, but I cannot thank Great Neck Games enough for what they did. I didn't want to put on such an expensive affair, but they did something I didn't think was possible - made me happy I did it. And, they truly deserve a large share of the credit.

(It's not huge but the fact that it's pretty much glass encased, made it feel so much bigger). We knew that our guests would love the options of being inside or outside for the party. I had never been to an event there before, it was recommended by a friend who also never had an event there, but she had heard good things about it. We were looking for a venue by the water because my husband wanted a nautical themed birthday party for our son. Meeting with Sheri the event coordinator was so nice. She's very pleasant, answered all our questions, communicated well and in a timely fashion. She was accommodating with our requests, throughout the whole time leading up until the party. In the last day or two before the party, we had a few cancellations from guests and while I made the changes on my end with table arrangements...I totally forgot to let Sheri know getting swallowed up with life and with the rest of party planning. I know this was totally my fault and any changes that has to happen on the day of is always stressful. That being said, my friends and I got to the venue two hours before the party to set up decorations (we prepared all the decorations the day before for a quicker decoration time on the day of so we basically stayed up all night) because that was all the time allotted us and as soon as we got there, we were met with some very big attitude from the staff. I sent a floor plan to Sheri that we decided on together that the backdrop would be to the side of the venue to accommodate for more dance floor space. Well, realizing on the day that the corner or the side where we decided the backdrop was gonna be is going to be way too small for the display...my friends and I asked if we could just put it front and center as soon as you walk in, which is the location that makes the most sense. We got so much pushback, and they kept insisting that it was going to be very hot, they were gonna need to open the window that the backdrop will be going in front of, but literally there was nothing we could do because the backdrop was not going to fit in anywhere else, but that space. Eventually, they let us just do it, but the staff were all begrudgingly moving tables and chairs on top of the move that was already done before because of my mistake. They just kept rumbling and talking under their breath LOUD enough so we could hear it (honestly I don't think they cared that we were hearing it) while we were rushing to finish all the decorations. My friends and I pretty much just ignored them and I was literally on the verge of tears from so much stress and not getting sleep the whole night just to finish up these decorations. I really tried to keep my cool and not give attitude back or yell. Sure that is not their fault but they could definitely have been a lot more accommodating and from being in the service industry... you have to be flexible when it comes to events like these. There will always be something that doesn't go according to plan no matter how much planning you think you did. And as the (venue) vendor, you have to ensure that your customer is happy or satisfied with what they are paying for...pretty much just say ok we're not going according to plan but let's move past it and just do what has to get done for the event to happen and how can we help do that. This was not a cheap event and I would have expected a more professional behavior from the staff. The one person I remember particularly is named Lorie? She seemed to be the ring leader of the attitude gang. She only kind of got nicer by the end of all the preparation right before the party started. In any case, everything turned out well, we got started somewhat on time and the rest of the party went smoothly. Our guests enjoyed the party and all were complimenting how beautiful the venue was. The food was really good surprisingly and Sheri did, later on, keep checking up on me to make sure that everything was OK. Only after the party did I hear from my sister in law that the staff were still rude to some of the guests during the party. I guess I was just too busy to notice. Also I was told that all our cake (which we brought) was not finished by the guests, but we weren't offered to take home any so I guess they just threw it in the garbage. In any case... would've loved to have another party here in the future but probably will not, nor recommend someone else to (unless they train their staff better in terms of guest relations).

The staff is warm and inviting, Kelly, the bridal attendant was amazing. She knew what I needed before I knew! They went above and beyond to make our special day beyond perfect. From the first day we stepped into the gorgeous mansion, John made us feel like our day was the most important day. He put our minds at ease with every question or concern we brought to him. Simply put, John is the best. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking. The grounds are gorgeous, and a fall wedding with the leaves changing made for a beautiful backdrop for our ceremony. The inside is so beautiful, I barely had to add any decor. We were able to add a few touches to make it unique and special for us, but it truly didn't need much at all. The food is amazing!! It's been 2 weeks since our wedding and we're still getting calls and texts about how delicious all the food was!! The variety of foods offered are amazing. There is truly something for everyone, and they were very accommodating for our guests with special dietary needs. One of the things I fell in love with about the Chateau at Coindre Hall is just how unique it is. Very few of our guests had ever been there for an event and everyone was blown away by the beauty and uniqueness of it. Coindre Hall is a true hidden gem on Long Island, and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who wants their special day to be unique and feel like the most important day ever. I decided to order the spicy roll and the Steve roll while on a break. I noticed their sushi earlier and it looked amazing. The 2 rolls I had were just loaded with tuna and were huge. There were 8 pieces per roll and when I finished, I was stuffed. The rolls were so plump and full of flavor, just amazing. Along with the 2 rolls, there was a nice serving of a salad that was made of seaweed and grab in a sesame oil, so delicious. Im walking away with $80 back from my deposit because of a small amount of confetti that me and my people were cleaning because Bryanna said we had to clean so we stayed till after 11 cleaning not partying no music playing anyone sweeping and throwing things away. Bryanna said leave it we will take care of the rest. I woke up the next day to an email requesting $170 for staying past 11pm to clean up after they told us too and $60 fee to clean confetti. They really played games with me. Bryanna came to me on more than 1 occasion while my party was going on and not once did she saying anything about the confetti or that after 11 we in the building we will be charged. They made us stay later to charge us $110 for over time. This scamming ass place needs to be stopped. I asked 5 times were we good before we left and Bryanna said yes. We attended an "Eat and Play with Elmo" event, and unfortunately the experience fell short, especially given the $40 price. Parking is very limited, and the event felt oversold and overcrowded. The heat was not working, and with temperatures below 30 degrees outside, it was barely warmer inside. Most conversations among parents were about how cold everyone was, and many adults and children kept their coats and hats on the entire time. If the heat wasn't working, the event really should have been rescheduled. There were also safety concerns. The gate separating the play area from the rest of the space was not functioning and remained open the entire time. While I was putting away our shoes and diaper bag, my daughter slipped into the play area, which was unsettling. The Elmo costume itself looked great and was very realistic, but the character interaction was a major disappointment. The person inside the costume seemed disengaged and unhappy to be there. Elmo mostly stood in one spot and did not interact warmly with the children. There were no hugs, no pats on the back, and very little acknowledgment of the kids beyond an occasional half-hearted wave. For an event centered around meeting Elmo, the lack of enthusiasm and interaction was especially disappointing. Other moms I spoke to noticed the same thing The space itself is lovely, but for a $40 "Eat and Play with Elmo" event, this experience fell short of expectations.

She gave me some BS excuse and then tells me they can't do anything about the balloon decor price even though the other person said he'd help. These people are disorganized and don't even speak to each other. She never mentioned other things paying extra for a seat on the stage. We left without a solution. I found another decor person who did a fabulous job at a much lower cost. The day of the party, the owner comes and says why didn't we use their vendor, they don't allow outside vendors. Like, REALLY? You people need to get your act together. And then we can't use the chaise because it "belongs to them" and we have to pay extra. For an ugly, dirty, old broken piece of crap. The management people are the WORST! Then they set up the tables wrong, wrong size, wrong chairs, wrong color napkins. They run out pina colada mix not even half way through. This place is run down, dirty everything. The chairs, linens, the doors are broken, it's so ghetto yet they have the audacity to act like a-holes. The only good thing, Sima the event manager and her staff were great! She was so helpful and kind, loved her. The rest of you at this hellhole suck!
