They have a good selection of books, they also use interlibrary loan so they can get other books that they don't have in-house delivered. They have a good selection of films, they even have video games which I haven't seen a lot of libraries that have that. They have a library of things, which means they have some small devices and appliances that you can check out and use. The librarians are really helpful and friendly. For the kids library downstairs they have a lot of really great events and toys and computers that the kids can use. It's also located right next to a park, so you can make a day of it, you can come and check out the library, then do a picnic, then play on the playground. So why four stars instead of five? Well, the public parking lot for the library has a time limit! And so if you spend too long here you will get a ticket. Other than that this library is pretty sweet.

The library itself has large areas divided into children's, teens, and adults. They have free Wi-Fi available that is quite fast and reliable. My years have taught me to always have a few good books to read somewhere. Fast forward to two kids later and I laugh at the notion of ever immersing myself in television or literature again. Now I just want good, easy, important and fun activities for my free (yah right) time. I wasn't expecting much out of a small community library, however this branch far exceeded any preconceived notion. One, the grounds are beautiful. It's apparent that there is a team behind the library that works to make being outside just as peaceful as inside. I often spend hours with my youngest right outside the library door while my oldest works in Lego Club. Yes I said it, Lego Club. Are you kidding me Liberty Lake Library? Not only have you pinpointed the one thing my son loves above all else in this world, you created a community for him. Priceless in my eyes.

Upon walking in, there are a couple of shelves featuring various types of books. What I find interesting is that there are always books on these shelves that favor left-leaning topics. There are a few reasons this is disappointing. One, the majority of this community has the opposite value system. So to many, this would feel like intentional gas-lighting. Secondly, I don't understand why the library wants to engage in such divisive topics? If they feel the need to display these type of books, why not offer some balance and include all voices and perspectives instead of just one? Visiting this library always makes me feel disenfranchised and bummed out.

I'm so happy to have this library downtown…read more I used to stop by when I needed a change of scenery after a couple hours working from a coffee shop and didn't want to purchase anything else. Their wifi never quite worked for my work laptop but I can use the hotspot data from my phone so it was never an issue for me. My work laptop stays home these days but we still stop by to use their printer (first three pages are free). I recently decided to stop using their computers to pull up the pages (to save time) and found that sending the pages from my phone (using the instructions from their website) works well for most things. We have also been enjoying their evening story time series. Many events for children are during my work hours so I'm glad there's at least one at 6pm. Thirty minutes is perfect for the reading and singing part in the meeting room. Some people also arrive at the library early and/or stay for a bit after if they'd like to chat or explore the library toys. They also have events for teens and adults but I haven't explored those yet.

Their online renewal system works great, and they've been very helpful with knocking down late fees when you need it (often through donating canned goods to wipe the slate clean)! They also frequently have special events for the kids, particularly during the summer months, to get them both excited about reading and out of the house.

Four computers dedicated to kids, but not nearly enough for peak times. After school the kids stack 2-3 deep waiting for a turn. There are four little study nooks with power outlets, and plenty of other seating and tables. The whole back wall is glass and they did a beautiful job. Open concept favors safety and security but sacrifices volume as the noise tends to bounce everywhere. Overall a huge improvement but easily strained by the volume of users during peak times.

The parking lot is also decently shaded so it offers a cool alternative to the summer heat. The front doors are automatic and slide directly into the library itself as you pass the desk. As soon as you enter, there is a budget bookshelf of books for sale. Then you get into the real library. They have bathrooms and seating areas and a drinking fountain and computers to use as well as bookshelf upon bookshelf. If you know what you were looking for, you might need to ask someone or use a computer to look it up because there are not great labels on all of the rows. It could also be a little bit cleaner, and a little more organized. If you were just looking to browse, as I often do, then it is a nice place to wander around. I wish they were more comfortable sitting around where all of the bookshelves are, but it's just a dream. They offer a hands-free check out which is very helpful especially when you're an introvert and don't really want to talk to the receptionist. If you do have to talk to them however, they are very nice and helpful :-) I would recommend it for people who have a library card and want to find some thing that will enhance and excite them.
