I absolutely love this hospital. Excellent quality of care Every time we have had to go to Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana. Today, my Mom was scheduled for a colonoscopy. The procedure was performed by Dr. Chang and his superb surgical team/staff. All of the nurses were friendly, professional and attentive. Following the procedure; Dr. Chang came into the room and explained the entire procedure along with all of his findings. He is able to explain everything in layman's terms. Overall experience...5 stars.

Tonight I visited the hospital with my 3-year-old son, who was having trouble breathing. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated my baby with such care and immediate attention. Everyone was kind, gentle, and quick to respond. Sam at triage was incredibly caring and patient. Payton, the R2 Respiratory Therapist, gave me so much helpful information and tips to help my baby cough and breathe easier. She even talked and played with him, tickling him to make him smile during his treatment. The doctor was detailed, patient, and informative, making sure I understood everything. I know this job isn't easy, and I truly commend you all. I had been at work since 6 a.m. and rushed straight to the ER exhausted, but you all made my night. Baby Tony is doing so much better, and it's all because of you. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. This team deserves to be recognized for their compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. You went above and beyond -- and that makes all the difference.

Tiny little pancake, no protein given, just crappy orange juice. Sugar.

I had went into the hospital because I lost the ability to urinate. It is not a urinary tract infection as I had no other signs or symptoms. I did have a break out of shingles near that area. I went to the hospital freaking out, thinking I had an STD, but it was confirmed that it was definitely shingles, what a terrible place to get it let me tell you! So I guess that shingles has some kind of connection with the nerves in your body. That's why the breakouts usually end up in one area. It was only on the left side of my body where I had the shingles. OK, so that being said they gave me a CAT scan and then they did an MRI the next morning to make sure that my nerves were OK. They never found out the reason why I couldn't go to the bathroom but inserted a catheter and just said that, maybe my bladder needed a rest. I have an appointment with a urologist on Tuesday that will remove the catheter and I guess hopefully I will be able to go to the bathroom then? If not, I have no idea what's next. Some of the nurses were very nice and some of them were very dismissive as were the doctors. One doctor came into my room and neither my mom or I could understand a word he said. We kept asking him to repeat himself. If someone is a muffler, they need to open their mouth wider and talk so a patient can actually understand what they're saying! 100. For a diabetic or pretty much anyone, the breakfast they served me was unreal. When I was finally able to eat the next day, the breakfast consisted of one tiny pancake, orange juice, milk, and coffee. Orange juice is loaded with sugar they considered it to be one carbohydrate exchange just as the pancake was one carbohydrate exchange. Honestly, I don't drink orange juice. I would've completely skipped it and went straight towards Just having a second pancake or at least an egg for protein. Make sure if you go to this hospital they actually give you the medicine that you're supposed to take every day and if they don't give it to you ask why not. I'm sure they'll charge my insurance for medicine that they didn't give me. When my husband went to pick up my medicine from Walmart. The worker told him that the hospital canceled some of my other medicines. They canceled medicines that I've been taking for years. Medicines that have nothing to do with the hospital or my visit . They canceled one of my diabetic meds which they had no right to do. I see an endocrinologist for those. I am on the right dosage. They canceled an anti-anxiety medicine which again is actually given to me by a mental health professional because I have really bad panic attacks and they cancelled that. So I don't know why I had to go through their pharmacy if they're calling Walmart and canceling medicines that I need. This whole ordeal has just made me lose complete faith in the hospital. Now I have to talk to two doctors to go ahead and rewrite prescriptions for the ones they canceled. I am pretty livid. I'm trying to recover and I am in a lot of pain and dealing with. This is just a lot.

I am startled by how much the bill came to. 90% of the time I was in waiting room and then waiting hall of ER. Didn't get a room. My heart was not placed on a monitor. My bill came to over $4000. No ambulance was called. I just waited about 90% or more of the time. Sad!

Dr David Stewart was the best! You have let down a lot of patients that won't be returning.

We visited the emergency department today and it was super busy. However, we were checked in and seen by a doctor in less than two hours.

Upon entering the facility we parked in the parking garage and then proceeded to the breezeway to have an officer greet us and point us in the direction we were to go. Thought the elevators bottom to check in. All still tolling smoothly. Sat down for about 2 and a half minutes and they called me back immediately. I got to the back was asked to undress and put on the ever adored hospital johnny and non skid socks. How the cutest people can be brought to look like the walking dead in these things. Lol. Both the supervisor and the nurse came in and introduced themselves first. Then the anesthesiologist, and finally my surgeon. They were all a joy. I will say in my field it's hard to find people who not only know what they are doing and do it to the best of their ability, but genuinely love doing it. I think I ran into that group. Blessed I am for being able to. After the procedure, I wasn't treated as a medical professional, I wasn't treated as an equal, I was treated as a adored patient. That in itself, made me able to relinquish the responsibility of my healthcare into someone else's hands because I knew they not only were they capable, but happy to do so. It's hard to relax when you are always the one everyone else looks to and are in control. They were so good they gave my husband instruction as to my continued care at home. This is something I will ever be grateful for. Sorry if I leave anyone out. Please forgive me. It's only I was mostly out of it when I was there. A special thanks to Katie:), Sue:), Joanne, Kerri, Mrs. Tammy:), Dr. Han, the ever great anesthesiologist, and all others who made me feel safe and walking me through every single detail and holding my hand the whole way. Every single one of you were a complete joy to be around and you never once made me feel uncomfortable. I appreciate that. Thanks for the check up call and the help with setting up a follow up appointment. This is about their outpatient therapies…read more Pros: the therapists themselves seems to be knowledgeable and good at their jobs. This review is not about them. cons: Scheduling. My son has mild ASD. Kids with ASD need a schedule to know what is coming next. In addition, my son is starting Kindergarten soon, so for his speech and OT, we need it to be in the evening or on the weekend. On the phone with scheduling, they told me there was plenty of weekend and evening availability for speech and OT. They scheduled us for the evaluations and did them. When it came time to schedule his appointments they don't have a schedule. Suddenly, they don't have availabilities on evenings and weekends. Moreover, they don't really have a set schedule you can create. They'll just call me in the morning if they have availability. Then they want me to pull my son from school SUDDENLY and take him to a random appointment he was not aware was happening. All of that uncertainty is TERRIBLE for kids on the spectrum. It means that they'll be living their lives in anxiety over if they will be suddenly pulled from school for an appointment. They won't be able to focus on school, and they will miss out on quality education time. When I pointed this out to the schedulers (I talked to many, including supervisors), they said, "well, that's just the way we do things." I was also told that a "good mom" would pull their kid from school whenever THEY want me to. FINALLY, the speech therapist that did his assessment got him scheduled for weekly evening appointments. He has his first appointment and the therapist was so great. She even gave me activities to do with him outside of therapy. Great! The next morning, scheduling called me to tell me that therapist is leaving the practice, so they are cancelling all our scheduled appointments. They again told me I have to just wait for them to call during a random day and I will have to pull my son from school. The ugly: I am currently contemplating a civil law suit. We found an occupational therapist with weekend availability. THEY almost didn't take us because you aren't supposed to have multiple OT eval within 6 months. But they agreed to take us if I could get access to the eval Fransiscan did. It took many calls and emails and putting in a complaint with legal that they are violating Hippa by refusing to give me my son's medical data that they were holding hostage. Where does that stand now? Well, I am about to pay EXTRA to the new OT because they had to redo the assessment because Fransiscan still hasn't given me my son's data after about a month of a fight. They claimed they have the package or me to pick up at any time waiting at their front desk. I have been there 3 times to pick it up and every time I go, the front desk workers say there is nothing there for me to pick up. It is about 25-30 minute drive there and the same back home each time. Each time the front desk has no clue what I am talking about. NOW, apart from my son, I am dealing with the similar thing for me. My PT. The person that did my PT eval said I need to go once a week for 6 weeks and then they will re-evaluate. That was in March. It is now Almost august, and they have fit me in once. I have had 1 appointment. My doctor was shocked that I had only been seen once, and is in favor of me "jumping ship." That's right, the doctors in this system know that scheduling is so messed up they are recommending you use other therapy services. SO....If you want to go to a therapist that breaks hippa laws and does not give a rats butt about patient outcomes, go here. If you want services, go literally anywhere else.
