Very dedicated volunteers fostering and presenting cats and kittens. Very clean and many choices of well cared for furry friends.

    Somewhere I.

I'm very grateful for this wonderful organization . I adopted my 8 week old kitten Macy in January 2021 by way of the Marin humane society who were kind enough to take in a few of CC4C 's kittens . we were in the middle of the pandemic and I'm sure this posed many more challenges than usual . Macy is now approaching 5 years old and a love . They did a great job fostering the set of kittens I met but unfortunately I could only adopt one . thank you for all you guys do . Macy and my Frenchie are life pals .

So grateful for this lovely company bringing new furever families together! CC4C came on my radar at the time of my previous kitty's passing, the lovely doctor I worked with made a donation in his name to this charity. I never forgot about them, I set up my Amazon Smile to benefit them, and I knew when and if the time was right, I would get my next little fur baby from them. For years I kept an eye on their website, just enjoying the sweet faces. And then finally one morning near the holidays in 2022, something in me said I should take a spin on their website, and I saw the sweetest face and most heartwrenching story of sweet little Lucca, a 3 year old tortie. And it was love at first sight. I ran into a couple challenges getting in contact with her foster, long story, but the CC4C team helped me so much and soon I was at their adoption event in Walnut Creek hanging out with my soon to be new kitty! The screening was very thorough, they definitely want new pet parents to take it seriously and provide a good and safe home. They even let me borrow a carrier to get her home safely that I could return the next day. And her lovely foster checked in with me a week or so in to make sure my new kitty and I were getting along and adjusting. I definitely recommend CC4C if you're wanting a adopt a cat, their adoption events are wonderful and their volunteers are very caring and helpful. Their website is always updated, and their Facebook page shows kitties available now and when their adoption events will be. They make it all very easy! Over a year in now, here's my kitty now dubbed Jazz in our new home!

Last November, I submitted an application to adopt a cat in foster care under CC4C. The foster mom (Tina) was so helpful. She asked me what qualities I was searching for and selected 6 kitties for me to meet at her home. When I arrived. she had them in large pet crates in a separate room, so I could take my time to visit with each one. She provided detailed descriptions and known information for each one. The third one I held (not the one I applied for) was the one that stole my heart immediately. She was so sweet and relaxed in my arms. After Tina completed the paperwork for me to sign, I took her home along with a bag of dry cat food provided by Tina. She was in perfect health and up to date with vaccines. It only took a week for her to feel at home and within 10 days, she had learned her new name. She is the sweetest, well-behaved, affectionate cat. Thank you, CC4C.

My boyfriend's mother & I adopted two cats from here. I submitted the application 10 days prior and needed to meet the cat at the facility to adopt. My boyfriend's mother saw another cat at the facility and applied via a paper application the same day. She was approved. We worked with Marilyn & the pet fosters. They replied fast and were very passionate about the cause. Everybody I spoke to there was very pleasant and welcoming. The adoption fees are lower in comparison to The Humane Society & Mini Cat Town where I've adopted my other cats. We paid $150 for the kitten & $125 for the 2 year old cat. Even after you leave, you can contact the establishment or previous foster for advice to help the cat adjust, and to send them updates about your new cat.

These people are very helpful and what they do for these cats is amazing. The process for getting our little guy was easy, they make sure that you are more than prepared to bring your cat home, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a cat.

They are dedicated to helping these kitties get ready for a home as well as finding the right match for you and your family. My main goal was a short haired, not kitten, that loves young kids since I have a 4 and 7 year old. Came in on one of the adoption weekends at their adoption site in Walnut Creek and by the end of the weekend, we found the perfect new addition to our family. The volunteers are passionate and really care. Cannot recommend enough

Our three healthy and happy rescue boys adopted through CC4C.

Five stars for Community Concern for Cats (CC4C)! We adopted three rescue kittens, from CC4C, in June, 2023. It was a pleasure working with CC4C. They made adopting our kittens an enjoyable experience.  Thanks especially to CC4C's coordinator, Renee, who was very knowledgeable, responsive, and helped guide us through the adoption process. And to the kittens' foster mother Karen, who lovingly raised seven healthy, happy kittens. CC4C was very efficient, well organized and helpful throughout, from the initial adoption process through to the kittens' neutering. We have three terrific cats now and couldn't be more pleased. The love, compassion, and dedication, that CC4C puts into rescuing and finding homes for their kitties, is obvious. Highly recommended!

We were looking to adopt after unexpectedly losing our last cat in early January. After looking at the available cats on the CC4C website and communicating via email with one of the volunteers, Marilyn, we decided to go to their Saturday Pop-Up Adoption in Walnut Creek. We were the first in-line to get in (they have reduced the number of people inside due to COVID, so we had to wait until the people fostering the cats had finished bringing in all the cats) and met with a volunteer who talked with us after reviewing our adoption form. She suggested that we look at Smash Mouth, an adorable 7-month-old female. Well, we fell in love with her immediately and after getting to know her a little more, decided she was going to be the newest member of the family. We've decided to rename her Matilda. The entire process, from arrival to heading home with our kitty, took a little over an hour and was very easy. The volunteers at CC4C were friendly and answered our questions. I also received a follow up call from Marilyn this week to check in and provide a little more background on our kitty. I can't say enough about how fantastic the people at CC4C were to work with. Thank you for helping us add Matilda to our family.

I love you and your purr like a Mack truck from which you get your name, Max. I know you'll love your new home.

This wonderful organization helped me with an awesome cat who really needed a forever home. My daughter was unable to keep him because he needed a home with grown up people, and hers was full of littles. I tried everything to integrate him into my home with my resistant 11 year old male cat, but it just wasn't happening, and both cats were unhappy. Community Concern for Cats got Max in to see a vet with a complete check up. They helped us verify his chip, updated all his shots, and gave him a clean bill of health. I provided pictures and they set up an awesome online profile for him that really showed off his sweet and goofy personality. Their weekend adoption event was the perfect place for prospective new owners to meet Max. He met several people, but he chose his person a few weeks in. Numbers were exchanged all around so that everyone could feel comfortable about the transition, and assure support for Max's new person should they need it. I got texts and pictures for the first few weeks, human and feline were settling right in. It makes me so happy! My daughter and I can never thank Community Concern for Cats enough for the wonderful work that they do.

This is Bella who went home with a wonderful older couple with lots of love to give!

Her mom adopted the sweetest chihuahua from Arf back in 2021, the fur baby went blind about a year ago. So we were really concerned about how she would settle in a new environment, and we're trying to rehome the dog I went to Joybound a few weeks ago to ask if there was any chance they take back their animals in these circumstances. The woman at the welcome desk was so helpful explaining yes they do. She walked me thru the process to fill out the forms online They got back to my friend promptly to setup an appointment for a behavior assessment and vet evaluation. We had our appointment yesterday at 2. We arrived a half hour early so we wouldn't be rushed , and to help Lily stay as calm as possible. Everyone we encountered was delightful and so kind. No judgements- Lily came alive with tail wags and enthusiasm to be back at such a supportive rescue group. She was just basking in the attention and love. She passed her behavior test with flying colors. We were told she most likely will be going to a foster home first for a few weeks before she's available for adoption. We were told we can follow her online with her name, and see when she becomes available and she won't be on the website anymore once she finds her next loving home. Thank you Joybound for standing behind your animals and supporting families We also did not have to pay a surrender fee. We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy complementary coffee or tea, also offered a box of tissues We were already pulling out of the parking lot before our scheduled appointment time Can't think you enough for your kindness all around this hard experience

I had two new kittens that I took in as a foster, but of course my family and I fell in love with them and kept them. At this event I got both of their first kitten shots, rabies shot, microchips, flea medicines and some cat food all for free!! Everyone was so nice and although there was a lot of people there taking advantage of the free services, they communicated effectively and everything was organized and not chaotic. I joined their mailing list and found out about their next event in Richmond. The kittens and I went down there to get their second kitten shots and cat food, for free! I got on the waiting list for low cost spay and neuter clinic. Friendly staff, nicely organized. I was suprised when I got the call from them for the neutering appts quicker than expected! Brought both kittens down, everything went well, again for free!! Today my husband, our daughter and I went down to their free pets stocking decorating event. Met with smiles, super cute room filled with stockings and puff paint pens on the tables. They had cookies and hot apple cider. All for free. We decorated stockings for the kittens and our other cat, it was a lot of fun and they had a good turnout! While our stockings dried, we walked around a bit and found they had a boutique! We made Christmas donations for both cat and dog items that they matched! And we got our large dog some Christmas Jammie's on clearance for $5. Boutique was well priced, my husband got a Joybound hat! So onto the animas they had there! First we passed the cats. All of them cuddling in super nice beds, they had nice toys, scratch pads, colorful wallpaper in their individual rooms, information sheets on each door for each pet. The dogs had the same, nice fuzzy beds, toys, little slots to give them treats down this tube. So cute!! I typically can't look at shelter pets because I feel so bad for them. These animas all looked happy and very well taken care of! There was staff walking around regularly checking in on people since they had adoption available. I asked a few questions they were able to answer no problem! They seemed very caring and committed to the animals and putting their best foot forward in helping the get homes. Building super clean, staff super nice, animas all cozy. Overall, we have a great opinion of Joybound with all these diverse experiences we've had with them. The people are so nice and welcoming. We're so grateful for them and the help they provided my kittens, saved us a ton of money!!! And for all they do, thank you!!!!!!

At least when I was there, all the kittens had come from fosters so they were readily more socialized and outgoing than any barrage of kittens one sees at overloaded shelters. and if they put you through the paces to adopt a cat- just consider that anyone who has seen as many cute kittens adopted and later returned at a much less adoptable older rate- I thought their care and questions were warranted. But overall I would say- if you are looking for a feline family member, I would absolutely go there. the hours are slim (their webpage could be a little clearer) but you will find a super well socialized feline companion where they know the name, the personality (feline-ality) , spayed or neutered and well cared for. I truly thought they were brilliant for a volunteer organization on a shoe-string budget. My new litte one is home now- made herself home within minutes...even won my 15 year old pup over- she sleeps with him. I think they are wonderful and I cannot thank them enough for their time and care.

The local vet in Napa said we needed a neurologist and sent us for emergency care at SAGE in Redwood City. They told us that he was becoming paralyzed and that we needed to get him an MRI ($3000) and an aggressive back surgery that was only an 80% chance he recovers from this. That would cost us approx $18,000 dollars. Not to mention the aftercare costs. If we couldn't do that, then we should euthanize him humanely there that day. We cried it out and begged for an alternative so they sent us home with a gloomy diagnosis that the steroids will probably not help and to have him put down if he become fully paralyzed and struggled with his breathing. We were trying to figure out what else could be done and our family friend messaged us with Linda from Bay area Animal rescue crews information. Linda from BAY AREA ANIMAL RESCUE CREW called us and immediately suggested we take Griffin to Concord, Alpine Vet Hospital. That night we showed up to the Clinic at 6pm (they have great hours for working families too! )Linda Greeted us and took us in to meet Dr Freeman who in detail explained this Hib Laser that could help Griffin to walk again for hundreds of dollars not thousands!!!! He also did a few tests in front of us to test Griffin's reflexes. And he quickly was able to explain Parysis vs Paralysed. Griffin had a shot. And the Vet scheduled 7 visits for this HIb laser in a matter of 2 weeks. After the first treatment, it was clear we had some results. Griffin who was not lifting his head on his own, left the clinic with his head up! Linda called us that night for after care and to make sure we were doing everything in our power to give him the best chance. She double-checked our meds. She advised on what food we should be feeding him. (he wasn't eating at the time) her suggestions and help did not go in vain. I truly believe she is a godsend for our Griffin and for us. We kept him on the Steriods and he's been on some anti-inflammatories and pain meds for the last 27 days. I am happy to report Griffin is 90% better! He still doesn't take the stairs or do any jumping (we will be limiting that for a long time ) But he is walking with the occasional stumble. I feel like Linda and the Rescue crew and Dr Virk and Dr Freeman and the rest of the staff at Alpine are a Group of people who deserve this praise. And a BIG HUGE THANK YOU! Unfortunately, his foster parent said he didn't do well with other dogs and probably not with cats either. That was a dealbreaker for us. About a month later, during the week of July 4, I came across Sally Sitwell (now renamed Winnie) on Petfinder. Her profile mentioned that she was good with cats, and she sounded perfect for us. I applied right away but didn't hear back for a few days, so I was worried she might have already been adopted. But I totally understood since it was a holiday week and I'm sure they received a ton of applications. Eventually, I got an email from Ruthie, a volunteer, to schedule a 1:1 phone interview. She was really warm and easy to talk to. She explained that she usually handles phone interviews for people interested in brachycephalic breeds since she has experience with them. I shared our story about our late pug and everything we went through with her including surgeries, seizures, and IVDD, and Ruthie could tell we were familiar with the breed's needs. She planned to coordinate a meeting with us, the dog, and the foster parent, but she was going to be out of town. So she looped in Alex from Hopalong and Francesca, the foster mom, so we could set something up directly. We coordinated a visit to meet Winnie at Hopalong in Oakland. I really appreciated how flexible and communicative everyone was. It felt like everyone genuinely wanted the best for this dog. When I first met Francesca and Winnie, I lit up. Winnie was even more adorable in person and so much smaller than I expected. Francesca was such a kind person. She already had a Frenchie and cats, so you could tell she really loves animals. She walked us through all of Winnie's little quirks and her daily routine. A few minutes later my partner arrived and I ran out to get him. I told him right away, "You're going to love her, she's so adorable." The moment he walked in and saw her, he was smiling ear to ear. We ended up spending about 30 minutes with Francesca, chatting and also sharing more about ourselves so she'd feel reassured that Winnie would be going to a loving home. Toward the end of our visit, Alex, the program manager, came out to meet us. She was super bubbly and also a Frenchie owner. We let her know we were all in and wanted to move forward with the adoption. We asked if we could pick Winnie up the next day since we had a bunch of supplies being delivered like her crate, food, and bowls. Francesca was so accommodating and let us come to her house the next day to get her. The whole experience was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. There were no awkward moments and we felt supported from start to finish. I would recommend this rescue to anyone. Now Winnie is completely spoiled. We originally planned to have her sleep in her crate but that lasted exactly one night. She's now in the bed with us. She's been to the dog park, joined us on restaurant patios, come to work with me, and even had a few spa days. After hearing about her rough start to life, being used for breeding and then dropped off at the Hayward animal shelter, we knew we wanted to give her the best life possible. She is truly the sweetest, most loving dog we could have asked for. We're so grateful to everyone at Marin Humane + Hopalong for bringing her into our lives.
