They did a job a couple of years ago.... I use the word job loosely it was a room addition the room has been leaking every since the left they have come back to try to fix it but 6 years later it's still leaking they won't answer my calls and stop trying to fix it years ago my lawyer will be taking care of this now. Hired company to replace trim around house and outside area of chimney. Tim agreed to the work plus said they would power wash the outside and replace all the caulking around the windows. The work was partially done and never returned to finish the work. Calls were ignored and never got anyone from the company to respond or complete the work. I would strongly discouraged anyone from using this corrupt business. 0 of 5 stars!!! read more

They do not deserve the star given to write this post...This people are not to be trusted... You've been warn... This guys enclosed my back porch. At first it looked great. So great that I had Lowes install the same door enclosure on my front door... fast forward 6 months, the door along with the frame was not install correctly causing the door and frame to fall apart. I literally called over 15xs within a 4 month period asking them to uphold the workers warranty... I was repeatedly told we will get out to you... The warranty ends in Nov... Do you think they fix it...??? NO.... Matter of fact it's almost getting to the point I can't use my back door. Don't be fooled by pictures in their book. They will take a picture 5mins after the finish,however, until you test the quality and function you'll so know... You been tricked... I'll keep you posted.... read more

My project consisted of house painting and a covered patio addition. The 1st day of the project was the house pressure wash. During that time and by noon, 4 outside power outlets and 2 in the garage, all on one circuit, quit working. I had to get an electrician for repair. Water from the power washing caused issue. One of the 4x4 posts for the covered patio has a big notch in it. All 3 posts were given only 1 coat of paint. Paint drips are on the patio floor and paint on the house brick by a water faucet. They used a piece of smooth cut lumber on an area that had rough cut that they had to do over. There was a tremendous amount of debris (screws, metal pieces, and trash) left in my yard. When I called Community Builders of Texas with my concerns twice and each time I was told I'd be called back I never was. So I emailed them with my concerns; an office person named Laverna and the owner, Tim. Laverna only replied back that they're not paying for the electrical issue and never even acknowledged the rest of my concerns. And Tim never responded at all. This company ONLY cares about getting the job and the money and NOT any customer service. For what I paid for this job, they should be more concerned about the customers. read more

We were needing to have Hardy Plank replaced, so we contacted several companies, including Community Builders. Tim Gaffney was quick to respond. He quickly provided a quote and reviewed the scope of work with us. Once we checked the reviews we were concerned and asked him to come back to discuss. He addressed each negative review and for some reason we believed him. Basically Tim promised to replace rotten boards, paint the outside and caulk, caulk, caulk and caulk. Three weeks after they finished we had a swarm of bees make their hive behind the boards Tim promised to caulk, caulk and caulk. Cost us $285 to have the bees removed. We emailed Tim several times to have them to come back and caulk as promised. He IGNORED 4-5 emails, not responding at all. Calls to their office were brushed off. Finally after a few months of contacting them they sent someone out to caulk. He appeared to have done a decent job, we still have some caulking to do that he didnt get to. Our suggestions, dont contact Tim Gaffney. He will way over promise and way under deliver. Not worth the headache. read more

Excellent meticulous workmanship on all phases of the project, which was converting a covered patio integrated into the original design of the home, into a three-season porch. The only reason they didn't receive a 5-star rating was their pricing was considerably higher than most companies we had delt with before. Also, for a company that has been in business for over 40 years (1976), they should have had a much better working relationship with the local building permit office in Temple. It should not have taken three weeks to get a permit approved on a fairly simple job like this one! There was a disconnect on what was promised verbally and what was on the contract in writing that caused some conflict and hard feelings on our part. Granted the contract clearly stated that no verbal commitments would be honored, but the process of change orders should have been addressed in the contract, which would have avoided all the above conflicts. In the end though, the porch came out terrific! read more

I was told by Tim Gaffnee that they would replace all rotted wood and siding, caulk and paint. It would look like a new home. They were going to build a back deck to attach to my back porch. They were going to replace all rotten wood on the porch, tighten up the porch and paint. They did not order the correct paint colors. I specifically ordered dark grey like charcoal grey and burgundy trim. I got a grey that looks blue and red instead of burgundy. They already had the house completely painted when I came home from work. They were supposed to power wash, caulk & seal all my windows and put up Solar Screens. They put up solar screens but did not powerwash, caulk and seal the windows. I was pressured by office staff to sign release for finance company as it was almost Christmas and they took advantage of an elderly person by pulling at her heart. Now it is almost May, 2021 and they still have not corrected anything. Promises & Promises. i"m supposed to have a warranty that covers the project and 30 year warranty on the wood. The deck is very unprofessional and the boards don't match or line up and are now splitting and cracking. They did not use correct support under the deck. I had french doors installed to replace sliding patio doors. They put in a damaged door after waiting almost 5 months for the doors. They don't return phone calls or emails. I would not recommend this company to anyone! I am still waiting on my repairs!! They take advantage of the elderly and over charge for their work. read more

Had an appointment by representative of Community Builders come out for estimate for gazibo. 1 week later called the company, still no estimate. Called two weeks later still no estimate. The third week I called still no estimate. If you can't get a simple estimate in a timely manner how can you trust that your project be completed in a timely fashion? read more

From time I signed contract it took 5 weeks and several phone calls and emails before I was contacted, by a Sub contractor. The subcontractor cut off too much off my deck was only supposed to be 2 inches. He took off over 5 inches on one side and narrowed down to 2 inches on other side. Was not supposed to cut any of the deck boards and cut holes in two boards. The were supposed to remove and replace approx 12inches on siding to remove rotted wood along front of house. Around front door they did not remove and replace only covered up with trim board. Trim board was needed to to try to cover up what subcontractor screwed up. Supposed to be a 1 day job..but start to quit 4 weeks. Still not happy about job but tired of dealing with them. They are not dependable, don't show up when supposed to and are not even considerate enough to call and explain why. Poor workmanship, sloppy painting. They advertise..any size job welcome but was told by Tim several times, that my small job in his mind was not something they normally do. Constantly told me they treat each job like their own home. The absolute worst contractors ever!!! They remodeled my kitchen and rushed the work. They did it their way because for some reason they couldn't do what I wanted after they had already demoed. I didn't know they were coming to demo until the morning of when I was told I'd be notified weeks in advance via email. The workers wouldn't work all day and some days wouldn't come until after 10AM. They made a mess everywhere and did not clean up behind themselves. Everything was rushed and half done. To top it off. The lady in the office, Laverna, told us our loan would be interest free for a year and that was a lie!!! So I signed a contract with the belief I could pay off my loan interest free only to find out it wasn't true. Mind you I called her multiple times to confirm it and she told me it would be. I will NEVER use these ppl again and I DON'T recommend anyone to use them if you want quality work and honest ppl. Tim the owner, Ed the foreman, and Michael the worker are the only ppl I have something good to say about. They were awesome and worked with me very well!!! I just wish Tim would hire better ppl. By the way Laverna told me the backsplash I wanted was too expensive but I could buy my own and they could install it. How can it be too expensive when I'm paying $15,000.00???!!! read more

Had a contract one year but due to 2 deaths in my immediate family, I was unable to deal with any building and cancelled until a later time. Called this year, Tim came out and I had money in hand, full amount that he originally quoted, I called twice since I never received the new bid and agreement, never received an email or a call. It was a blessing in disguise as I found a great contractor that I trust to do the same work, actually bigger, for 16K less and who gave me a substantial military discount. Disappointed. Any business that does not show the courtesy for a follow up with even a text message, email or return phone call is not good. read more
