They won't let you give a zero star review, so sad. No 24 hour service or any descent customer service at all. Online banking app crashes twice a week and they blame the customers. I would give zero stars if I could. They are the absolute worst bank I've ever banked with. They bought my old bank, Santander, in November 2025 and the transition was horrible. There were several issues with direct deposits and auto debits from the start. My account was immediately overdrafted and several credit card payments were returned. This caused unnecessary fees with my credit card companies and issues with my credit lines. The fees they charge for overdrafts and returned payments are the highest in the industry at $36. Their customer service is a complete joke and they cannot do anything over the phone and they make you go into the branch to ask for fee reversals and to close your accounts. Many customer faces issues with the transition and had to visit the branches, who were too understaffed to deal with the issues, causing hours of wait time. My issues were not revolved as promised during the first visit and I had to return to the bank the following week to wait again. This is not my experience with any other bank that I bank with, so I know that their practices are not normal. I have rarely had to visit any bank branch in person to resolve an issue, so I know that this is not normal customer service. I would avoid this bank at all costs. I have since joined 2 incredible credit unions that I have had no issues with (I have never had to visit either branch thus far, as their customer service is superb). So done with this company. I applied for a credit card with them 5 months ago. I have the hard inquiry to prove it. Have I received 1 piece of mail or email from them regarding it? Nope! Nothing! What's even better is that I tried for hours to get on the phone with a customer service rep and finalllllyyyy got a hole of a lady just for her to tell me she couldn't help and would transfer me to someone who could. She transferred me to another mainline and I can't get ahold of anyone once again. The mainlines only ask for current customer information and I am not a current account holder. read more

I agree avoid this pathetic little bank stuck in the past. Its hard to believe that a bank can make so many mistakes and not take any responsibility for them. My banks sends a monthly loan payment to them nine days before due. Last month they sent me a late payment due notice with an additional fee but I had a copy of my check they deposited into their bank proving I had made the payment a week before due. My bank gave me a letter stating that and I sent that along with a copy of the cancelled check to Community Bank and they still would not credit my account until they could find who they gave my money to. Every time you ask a simple question to customer service they say we have to send it to our research department. It took them two weeks to tell me how much I needed to pay to close the loan. I had enough of their nonsense so I tried to pay off the loan and now they are charging me a fee to pay off the loan and if you try to do it with an automated service they charge you an extra fee for that too. read more

In 2021, I was the victim of over $10,000 of fraud through my CBNA checking account. Though the theft occurred through the bank systems and no fault of my own, and despite the fact that I was hospitalized for cancer much of this time, the bank blamed me and refused to reimburse more than half the money or to even apologize. Stay away from this bank. When my husband and I set up our accounts, the process of ordering Visas/getting our pins was excruciating. We went through three iterations of ordering cards before eventually getting the correct cards and pins. It put us weeks behind in starting our new business. But that was just the start. We had our first overdraft experience a while later, as a result of their Android app showing an incorrect balance. When we spoke to a rep, she told us there was nothing she could do (and suggested that we use iPhones instead, because "her app worked fine"). On top of that, we've been repeatedly inconvenienced by their limited hours, slow turnover, and poor communication. We are now in the midst of our second overdraft experience, due - once again - to their mistakes. Their app still isn't fixed. Additionally, their online banking program is literally unusable, and they sent us our paper overdraft notice almost a week after the first overdraft, all the while charging us hefty overdraft fees. As far as the rep knows, there is no record of overdraft notices and she can't tell us when it was sent out. Apparently, it doesn't count as their error. (Also, we signed up for digital statements a while ago, but those never started coming.) We have asked for explanation. We were told that "keeping track of the [account] balance is not a service we offer our customers; that's not really our job." We were also advised to "use a paper ledger" instead of their banking app. The icing on the cake is that it's nearly impossible to get in contact with a manager, so we can't even resolve the situation. Avoid this dinosaur like the plague. I spent my lunch hour 2 weeks ago opening up a new checking account. It took 90 minutes to open the account and that should have been my first clue. I get home and look over the paperwork they sent me with, I realize they forgot to give me the free gift for opening up a new account. So I keep reading and I find out they are supposed to buy my old checks from me, this did not happen either. Fast forward two weeks later; I received my Visa debit card but my pin never came. I attempted to call twice and was greeted by an unhelpful woman both times. She was miserable and like I said unwilling to help out this NEW customer. FAIL, FAIL, FAIL on all levels. Yesterday I stopped by the Waterloo branch to close this pitiful account, they were appalled. I told them my story as they sat with their mouths open listening to me. Not all banks are equal, we all know that. In this economy I'd think they'd bend over backwards to help anyone whether THEY KNOW YOU OR NOT as I was told by the bitchy teller on the phone. My relationship with the Seneca Falls Branch started great - but the woman that opened my accounts left and since 2015 the bank has tanked. Their tellers have grown colder and less interested in being human with you, and if you aren't friends with the people who work there you may as well be stealing from them. They treat you like you owe them for something when they are the ones earning off your money sitting in their accounts. Go somewhere. I don't know where is better - but I know Community Bank in Seneca Falls (and equally bad Waterloo) are not the places to choose to bank with. read more

Ive been treated very poorly and rudely by the branch of Community Bank in Rutland. I needed a new debit card and when I pulled up to drive-thru, I was rudely told "We can't do that hear" and given no option to be mailed one instead. When asked if I could be mailed one, I was treated like I was bothering her for asking and was told "I guess we could do that, But Ill Need an ID" very aggressively as if that was going to be a problem? I also asked if there were any branches that could print one out on site and I was told "Well the Manchester branch used to be able to, but they closed" I literally had to list off different branches myself for several minutes until I was told that the WInooski branch could, which ended up being a lie. I wasnt told until days that the Rutland branch does print out cards on site, I just needed to come earlier in the day. This isnt the first time Ive had issues with this bank either. The same employee once berated me IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS because I said I dont use checks often so I dont often carry them anymore. It was extremely embarrassing. Ive asked around and apparently other people have not been being treated the same way as I have. I am visibily transgender as I am currently transitioning, While they havent made any direct remarks about my appearance or gender, Im unable to come up with any other reason why I would be treated so poorly and other customers would be having good experiences here. Community Bank NA has some interesting loan programs that are very different from other lenders. Their programs require 5% down, which is pretty standard, and their interest rates are a little high (4%), but they do offer no closing cost loans. Their loans with closing costs have pretty hefty up front costs, but without closing costs, it may be worth it. I initially rejected this bank because the monthly payment was higher than other offers I had, but I am now reconsidering because some of their numbers were extremely high (PMI is not $106 a month; $49 is typical for a credit score over 700). The other downside to this loan is only 3% of seller concessions, but this would not be a problem with no closing costs. A really good thing about this bank is they have excellent customer service!!! The worst bank I have ever seen let alone being the BIGGEST crooks. As, the person mentioned before me...Terrible service. My Girlfriend started an account with these fool. She got her debit card and wanted to change the pin # to only find out the Bank charges a $3 charged to do so. Really???? WTF??? Ok, so then she accidentally over drew her account $9.37. She received nothing by mail or phone letting her know this so, nothing was done about it. The following month her SSI direct deposit was put in the account. They took $520 for fees and such for the $9.37overdraft...Another...Really?? WTF??? There was the normal $35 overdraft fee that the account was nailed repeatedly for the month plus a $5 a day charge on top of that. So, you would think $520 would cover all that....NOPE!!! There was charges from some Evisions credit thing that was also nailing the account for the over draw. She called the bank and they said she Authorized Evisions to do so... She didn't!!! She called Evisions and told them she had proof that the fees where paid and then some and they said... We don't see the proof on our end so, we will continue to try to get the money. So, she opened another account elsewhere and had her SSI sent there and told Community she wanted a stop payment done..Another $30 charge. Then just the other day she got a paper in the mail that the account is STILL over drawn and they are STILL nailing the account. I my self have banked with HSBC and Community has bought them out so, people with accounts at the HSBC I was with will automatically be with Community. I have gone and closed my HSBC account and went elsewhere. I have also hear that ALOT of the HSBC customers have done the same. ALL I have to say is BAD business Community Bank NA. read more

They have been very helpful getting me started with my free $25 credit for checks in the deal and engineering a seamless transfer. Happy customer here! read more

This bank needs to fire their IT guy or the company that manages their online banking system. Their online banking system is the worst ever. I can rarely attempt to do something once. Either the system is unavailable, the transactions fail, or I get an error message. Online banking is supposed to be available 24 x 7, but it's nearly impossible to do something over the weekend with this place, not to mention regular failures during the week as well. Whatever you do, make sure you attempt to execute transactions such as payments well in advance of when they are due or you may be stuck and incur a late fee. Unfortunately, if this wasn't the only bank in our community I would switch. I've wasted many hours of my time over the years logging in and re-attempting transactions. read more

I have to agree with the negative reviews. Banking with Community Bank is like banking from the 1970's. I have a mortgage with them and I can't pay it online, they still forward me monthly mortgage payment stubs and address labels to mail it snail mail to them. When the mortgage was issued, they actually had the wrong interest rate and payments, the account had the wrong mailing address and the return labels were written to an incorrect address too. Incompetent!!! They have no clue as to whether they will ever provide online services one day. Also obtaining any other services requires going through a local bank branch, so you have people with no authority to provide individual customer service. They stick to the standard responses and feedback and couldn't care less about their customers. I deal with the branch in Half Moon but I suppose it doesn't matter where you go, the results will be the same, disappointing and embarassingly outdated and unhelpful. read more
