Community Bank NA has some interesting loan programs that are very different from other lenders…read more Their programs require 5% down, which is pretty standard, and their interest rates are a little high (4%), but they do offer no closing cost loans. Their loans with closing costs have pretty hefty up front costs, but without closing costs, it may be worth it. I initially rejected this bank because the monthly payment was higher than other offers I had, but I am now reconsidering because some of their numbers were extremely high (PMI is not $106 a month; $49 is typical for a credit score over 700). The other downside to this loan is only 3% of seller concessions, but this would not be a problem with no closing costs. A really good thing about this bank is they have excellent customer service!!! Michael MacDonald emailed me about 40 times on the day I inquired, and I haven't even applied yet! He is also very very knowledgeable & answered any questions I threw at him!!

I shopped around for local banks for about a month as my bank was closing. After looking at…read morewebsites and making phone calls my choice was clear, I am going to Lyons National Bank. This branch is about a year old. When you walk in you are immediately greeted and offered water or coffee. I waited a few minutes and was greeted by the Assistant Manager and she opened my account for me. I was floored at what was available. Free checking with 2.0% interest!! That's more interest than a standard savings account. When my debit card arrives I activate it in the ATM and can change my pin right at the ATM as well. Score!! The website is real time. We can transfer funds between accounts AND we get reimbursed up to $15 a month for out of network ATM fees. Are you kidding? For those of you shopping for a local bank I whole heatedly recommend LNB. Don't let your existing bank tell YOU where your new account will be like mine did. Take that First Niagara and Community Bank!

I had a checking and savings account here for years and had cashed my checks countless times without issue. One day I attempted to cash my check at the drive-up teller (Waterloo location) and was told very abruptly to "Go to bank of America". I was like "lol what I have an account here" and they tried to tell me I didn't. This was a normal, valid paycheck from the same employer I had been cashing at this location for years, mind you. So I went inside and the female employee (short hair, glasses, middle-aged) accused me of trying to scam the bank and told me that I "Got lucky" cashing my checks there before. She was extremely irate and disrespectful, insisting she could not find my accounts. I immediately contacted the bank supervisor, and none of my calls or emails were ever returned. I lost I don't know how much money (I don't remember exactly how much was in my accounts, it likely wasn't much, but that's not the point.) Those accounts, which I had for several years, had simply disappeared into thin air, and not only did I not get an explanation, I was treated like a criminal by bank employees, as if I were pulling some scam on them. I warn anyone against doing any sort of business with this fraudulent establishment.
