I made an account to write about my experience. I've been taking my first car to these guys for a few years. I am a woman; my dad does not live in driving range to help me out; I love my car and I want to keep it running well above the "bucket of bolts" minimum; and at the time I didn't have the tools or the knowledge to fix my own car. So yes, I was exactly the demographic to get ripped off by untrustworthy shop guys. And I was wrong to trust these guys to help me instead of take advantage of me. Now I jack my car up in the driveway and do my own brakes, and I have figured their tactics out; but it was an expensive lesson. Commonwealth started by fishing me with little things like new wiper blades. Then it was the air filters (I ended up doing it myself, it took 5 minutes). Then it was close to a grand for brakes and new rotors on all four wheels (needed, but dealer labor rates are high). Then it was a transmission fluid flush 30k miles earlier than Honda recommends---and when I looked it up it turns the transmission fluid was only 25k old from the dealer who sold me the car! I finally caught on when a tech recommended a once-in-100k service that I had literally had done at this dealer only 25k miles prior. They work they have done, I have been happy with. The waiting room is nice and the service managers are always polite and friendly. But they took advantage of my desire to keep my car in good shape and my lack of knowledge and sucked an extra $1200 or so out of me over three years. Don't go in without knowing exactly what your car needs via reading on the internet or getting a second opinion; or else be prepared to open your wallet. Sorry guys, next time I'm taking it to an independent shop. I just can't afford to "donate" to you anymore. read more

It's always a pleasure getting my car serviced at Commonwealth Honda. The service advisor always explains everything fully and I never feel pressured to pay for a service that is not needed. Shuttle service is AWESOME and very quick. Much better than atamian in Tewksbury. read more

I had a great experience leasing a 2013 Civic here recently. I went to Commonwealth after a really negative experience at another Honda dealer in Lynn--where I'd previously leased a 2010 Civic and which ran me through the standard nightmare car shopping experience (right down to snatching my keys and the awful back and forth with the unseen "manager" in another office). From the get, Commonwealth was fantastic. The agent with whom I worked, Wilson, was professional, informed, detailed, and seemed to genuinely want to meet my needs in terms of price. For what it's worth, the first price he came back with was significantly better than the third (and best) price I got from that other dealer. I left extremely satisfied with the deal we agreed on. In the days and weeks since, Wilson and a few other members of the Commonwealth team were in touch to check in about the car and my satisfaction. I had no issues and was very happy with the lease terms so I can't comment on what they could have offered or done, had there been an issue. However, they certainly didn't need to get in touch (or send me that tin of cookies) and the fact that they took the time to do so says a lot. The only time I heard from that other dealer I previously leased from was when my lease was ending and they wanted to sell me something else. The only work I had done at the Service Dept was the initial inspection, pretty routine, though when I showed up there was a decent line that they got me around. I was out in about 20 minutes. All in all, I'll definitely go here first for my next lease or purchase. read more

On July 1, 2013, I brought my Honda CRV to Commonwealth for the 1st time without an appointment. It was making a strange sound -so I wanted to at least have it checked out in the event it was possibly unsafe to drive. Being it was my 1st experience there, and that it was a busy Monday, I didn t expect they would be available the same day to do any work that would need to be done. I drove in, and a friendly man from the service staff greeted me. I was taken no longer than 5 minutes. Susan Gauthier took down my info and explained their process. She even led me to the waiting room, making sure to give me a time estimate. Within the estimated time, she came in with the diagnosis & cost of what was needed for repair - explaining everything, and answering any questions I had. The best part was that they would be able to do it right away- no need to make an appointment to come back! Susan returned to the waiting area within the estimated amount of time, with the news that my car was done - and for the price quoted. She also made sure to inform me where my finished car was located - a big help! I then went to the cashier -another easy and friendly process. Everything was good except for Steve C. He didn't bother to meet us and treated us as if we were passing time, not to forget, we had given our Credit card to him, even then he treated us like that. He didn't come even after requesting him to come while we were buying the car.. Instead he increased the price by 50$ and wrote it in Bold RED letters. So we insisted him to come after that, post which he finally came and did apologize for the sake of it. Even then we bought the car as we liked the car. When we went for the paper work the next day. The new car had 294 miles on the new car, so we were requesting to bring down the price a little more, but he didn't budge or negotiate. But we went ahead with the deal due to lack of inventory elsewhere. When we made the final deal, he didn't come to greet us. So I think there is some sort of approach issue here. But anyways we are really happy with the Sales person - Jessie who helped us till the very last day. He was really really courteous. read more

The repair department tried to oversell me on services I didn't need. A subsequent mechanic show me where the brake pads were not attached correctly by this repair department. The prices quoted were high. read more

I brought my 2011 Honda CR-Z to Commonwealth Honda last weekend for a 10,000 mile maintenance service. I had never been to this dealership before and wasn't sure where to go, so I parked by the service entrance and went in. A nice fellow told me to just pull my car in front of the garage & they'd let me in. So I pulled in & a service guy came to help me right away. The guy made some notes on one of those car diagrams indicating any scratches or dents (like they have you do when you pick up a rental car), which I thought was nice. I am sure they just do it so that you don't say they damaged your car, but at least it gives a nice impression that they are going to take care of your car. The guy quoted me about $140 & an hour and a half and directed me to the waiting room. I have to say I was a bit surprised when I entered the waiting room. It was HUGE. There were a couple dozen chairs arranged in 3 rows and a huge flatscreen TV on the wall showing a family-friendly movie. There was a play area in one corner for kids. A coffee/donut station at the back. And another TV showing news (maybe CNN? I can't remember). They also had signs up that said they had WI-FI available (although I didn't see anyone working on a computer). It was clean, and comfortable. I settled in, watched the movie that was playing and waited patiently as the service guys came in one by one calling customers over to tell them they were all set. Overall, I was happy with the service. It took a bit longer than I expected (about 2 hours)--and it was enough longer that I got a little nervous (I had to leave by a certain time to get to work on time & it was cutting it close). But I was VERY HAPPY that it ended up costing less than the estimate (~$115 instead of $140). Thumbs up, Commonwealth. I'd go back. read more

I've purchased a '99 Odyssey and a '10 Odyssey. Buying and servicing experiences have been very good. I've been servicing the cars there since '99 and they do good work at a good price. I trust them not to add on services I don't need. It appears they are interested in my long term business vs. an extra dollar today. They drop me off and pick me up at work for free when I leave the car for repair. When I needed rentals, the Enterprise rental people on site are also quite customer focused. We've had a disagreement or two in these 14 years. But they handled them very professionally with satisfactory outcomes, which is important in a long term relationship like car buying and servicing. When buying the 2010 Odyssey, their internet price was lower than the two other internet quotes I had, and they honored it with no hassles at all. And the sales reps really knew the vehicles. As an aside, the 2010 Odyssey is a disappointment vs. the 1999, but that's Honda's fault, not Commonwealth's fault. read more

By far one of the best Honda dealerships in the area! I live 20 minutes away from dealership but always drive the extra distance because of their speedy service and friendly representatives. Earlier this week I went to get my car's annual inspection sticker. I walked in to a waiting room full of people, and immediately thought "this is going to be a while". Within 15 minutes I was in and out (as with everybody else). They keep people moving which is why I travel out of my way to begin with. I haven't had any problems with their services in the past or with my car that I bought from them last fall (2015 CRV touring). I wouldn't go any place else! read more

They are truly competent, caring, compassionate, efficient and fair. Don't ever take your car to get serviced here. They lie and make up issues so they can steal your money! I took my car to get an oil change this past weekend. With the oil change comes a multi-point inspection. When I got my multi-point inspection back, they told me they OBSERVED my cabin air filter was EXCESSIVELY DIRTY, and quoted me $46 to change it. This proved to me they don't even inspect your vehicle at all. Little do they know, I replaced the cabin air filter myself just ONE MONTH AGO. I checked it myself when I got home to be sure. It was pretty damn clean. They told me I had to replace my other air filter and quoted me at $41 for that. I haven't checked it yet, but I would bet money it doesn't need to be replaced at this point. I had complained my oil light came on very early when I first brought it in. In the multi-point inspection, it stated they found an oil leak and it would cost $85 just to DIAGNOSE the oil leak, never mind fix anything. I opted not to get it looked at while I was there because I was skeptical after hearing about the filter. I took it to a mechanic and he said he couldn't find an oil leak anywhere. To be sure, I got a second opinion. Guess what? NO OIL LEAK. I bet if I paid the $85 to have it diagnosed, they would have "found" a leak somewhere and charged me much more than $85 to "fix" it. So, my point here is Commonwealth makes up issues to STEAL your money and they don't even really inspect your vehicle! I bet they did the oil change then just had my car sitting around an extra hour while I patiently waited in the waiting room so it seemed like they were actually working, when in reality I was lied to and deceived. I don't know if it's because I'm a young female so they figured I'm stupid and don't know anything about cars, but they couldn't be more wrong. Regardless, I'm livid at the service I received. Never accept anything they want to do to your car, get it checked by another mechanic first before they attempt to clear out your wallet for no good reason. Shame on you, Commonwealth, do your job. read more

Buying a car isnt easy but Commonwealth does their best to work with you and your budget to make it as smooth and simple as possible. John bent over backwards to get us the lowest possible price during the financing stage of the process. I have never felt so welcomed and taken care of in a dealership! They run a tight ship there and try their best to take the hassle out of the process. What a difference from walking into other dealerships that just want your money and dont care to listen to your concerns about your budget (ahem, atamian.) Our salesman Lissandro was so patient and took the time to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Every anxiety I had going into this process was relieved by the time I walked out of that door. read more

So my car was finished on a Thursday but I didn't get to get it until the following Monday. The policy at Honda is to hold the car until they receive payment. Understandable. However, I had an insurance claim and I signed a direction of pay to Honda. Knowing the check is going to them and I was paying the 500 dollar deductible I tried to get my car Friday they told me no we didn't get the check. The check was mailed two days prior coming from either Wakefield or Quincy directly going to Honda. I say okay I wait all weekend. I go on Monday and they tell me still no check I can't have my car. So at that point I was done. My car has been done for 4 days and been sitting there. This has affected my job not being able to get to work on my own free will. Finally when I start to get frustrated is when they have a manager accept the Check number and picture of the check faxed from my insurance. Basically my car was held hostage for 4 days. Honda is the only place who does not release the car when it's finished even with the direction of pay signed (which 100 percent guarantees the check is made out to them and goes directly to them.)that I myself have ever dealt with or even heard of. Honda should reconsider there policy's. I will not return there for any service not even my oil changes that I usually get there. Thank you Honda for the run around. Never again. read more

Had some warranty work plus additional work for my Odyssey that needed to be completed. I was working with Honda directly for issues because I was just out of warranty, I was going to pay for some of the work and I wanted to make sure/clarify that the warranty parts were ordered so I didn't have to make two trips, get both issues fixed at the same time. I left two messages with my phone number and the questions. I never received a call back from the service center for the update and it made me feel like they didn't have a good process for servicing my van. Most of the people there are good, service reception was ok but a simple phone call would have made me feel better about bringing my van there. I'm not too sure i'll be going back. read more

"My first new car buying experience" I purchased a 2015 Honda Civic. Walking into the dealership I didn't have any specific price in mind, I just wanted to see what was available based on what I could afford. My sales rep Jhonattan Almonte was able to show me a beautiful car, but before buying that car I mentioned how some of the features this car had weren't all that important to me, with in minutes he had found me a less expensive version of the car without all the extra's I didn't feel I wanted. Then the next step was to work with Karen one of the finance managers and she was able to fit me into a finance plan that fit my budget perfectly. She mentioned some extra's I could add to the car but never tried to hard sell and I felt she was completely being honest with me and not trying to sell me on something I didn't need. After meeting with those two people that had done their job correctly but in the back office their was a slight hiccup with my paperwork and it took me extra days to pick up my vehicle but Karen was wonderful in supplying me with a free rental car for the inconvenience, and finally when I came to pick up my vehicle Jhonattan made sure I knew how to work all the new features in my vehicle before I left. I would buy another vehicle here and I would recommend this dealership to a friend, because they do go beyond their regular job to make sure I was satisfied. Hard to believe my recent car buying experience was so positive. When I buy a car, I always know what I what, the price I want to pay, and I always haggle. Usually it is a very stressful and convoluted process; sometimes it can feel like a nightmare . What a surprise I had at Commonwealth. Adolpho is a gem of a salesman: friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, straight forward, no pressure. Wow. I kept waiting for the inevitable last minute add-on of fees or the, "So sorry, I made a mistake, my manager just won't go for this price". But it never happened. It was easy to view the optional accessories and their prices. And the financing process was quick and smooth. I bought a new car from Commonwealth Honda recently. The reason I bought from them was the high volume of positive reviews they received on several websites which probably derives from the fact that Commonwealth Honda pays $50 dollars for positive reviews received from their customers. After I bought the car the salesmen gave me a pink card with all the web sites I should go to post a review and for positive reviews I would get $50 dollars. I decided to waive the $50 and let you all know about my real experience with Commonwealth Honda: My experience dealing with Commonwealth Honda was similar to a root canal. The salesmen as well as the general sales manager treated me like nuisance reminding me that they were not making any money from the model of Honda I was buying. They ripped me off on my trade-in (compared to Kelly BB and Edmund's) and they gave me a hard time even on the color of the car. A few days after I bought the car a 6 inch crack appeared in the windshield of the car due to a manufacturing defect. I went back to Commonwealth Honda where I was met with hostility by the Commonwealth Honda service department representative who refused to replace the windshield. If you are looking for a root canal experience Commonwealth Honda is the place to go. I personally do not recommend this place to anyone. Honda is not what it used to be. read more

By far the worst customer service! I had many problems with the staff while my car was in repair at Commonwealth Motors. They kept my car for 3 days just sitting there and didn't feel the need to call me to tell me my insurance company never sent anyone to look at my car. Once I called and found out I was able to have someone come look at it the next day. I was then told by Jim Taylor in the service department that they would help me with a few days of my extremely expensive rental car. But I got the bill yesterday and no days were paid for by commonwealth motors. I called the day I was billed to talk to Jim and I was told he would call me right back. He never called. So I called and left a voicemail. I really thought that he would call me today but nothing so far. My grandmother who recommended that I go to commonwealth motors and who bought two hybrid cars there called to speak to Jim. She left a message and he apparently is ignoring her too. Nobody at this company seems to care about their customers. It doesn't matter if you are a returning customer they will charge you an outrageous amount and blatantly lie to you and ignor you. It was the worst possible experience trying to get my car fixed and I will NEVER go there again. read more

I don't recommend anyone buying a car here unless you want to be scammed. They pulled a bait and switch on the car price! The customer service and sales reps are sneaky nice but once you catch them fooling you, they get pretty angry and act very childish. Recently, I bought a "new" 2014 accord that had 400 miles on already. Aren't "new cars" suppose to have 0 or 100 miles at max? Regardless, I bought it and realized they switch the price of the vehicle and wanted them to show me the original proposal of the deal and they didn't have it and got real pissy. My 2010 Honda was in for an issue on Friday March 28th, my car was not ok to drive and my only transportation. I was told the part would be in on the following Monday the 30th Monday came and went so I called tues, I was told the part will be in Wednesday and I would be called on parts arrival. No call. I Called back Thursday, no one knew what I was referring to. I called again Friday, a week later, still no one knew the status. I called again the next Tuesday, and was told the part was in and I made a 9:00 am service appointment. I arrived at 8:30.am today. No one knew anything about my car again and I was told to wait in the waiting room. Half hour later, now just after 9:00am I was told the Person who would do the repair was busy and it would be 2'or 3 hours till he could look at my car. After 10 days and no one called or made any attempt to resolve my issue. I called on 5 different occasions and was told something different each time. I explained my frustration to your service dept manager and was treated as rudly and unprofessionally as I can ever remember. Your service manger would not allow me to explain the details of what happened. He violently slapped his hand on the counter and starting calling me names like a child might. I was not only astonished at the lack of service, but to be belittled by your senior employee is unacceptable. My wife and I bought both our 2010 Hondas from you are going to replace them both this summer. We will never shop or set foot in you business again, and will tell all who will listen how atrociously you treat your customers. read more

I am very happy with my experience at Commonwealth Honda! Mostly because Merrimack Valley Credit Union has a free auto advisor who helped me along the way. I was searching for a car by myself for about a week and was very frustrated working with sales men. Kevin gave me a call and found this vehicle for me in less than an hour. He was extremely flexible and we went to look at the vehicle the same day. Kevin was able to go through the whole process with me from the beginning test drive all the way to picking up the car with ease. Before I got to the dealership to test drive the vehicle he had worked the price down to a number I was able to afford. Not only did he help me through the buying process but gave me ample advise about cars, loans, insurance and was personable along the way. I felt no pressure from him to purchase anything. I would not go back to any dealership without an auto advisor next time! The whole process was so simple from start to finish. Good prices - I'll give them that. I was annoyed after I bought my car by the number of phone calls and emails I received for customer surveys. Same thing happened after I got an oil change. Come on, it's an oil change - I don't need 2 phone calls and 3 emails to follow up on that. Honestly, it took over an hour to get an oil change and while their prices for oil changes are the lowest around - if I have to pay an extra $5 to get in and out in 20 minutes plus not be harassed by a bunch of phone calls and emails on follow up surveys, it's worth it. read more

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I have been a long-term customer of Commonwealth Honda (several car purchases, have always brought my car there for service). The last few times I have taken my car in for service the customer service has been AWFUL. My fiance's car got slow leaks in the tires several times after being serviced at Commonwealth. Commonwealth was unable to fix it, so he brought it to a Gulf station and they fixed it on the first try - pathetic on Commonwealth's part. Additionally, the customer service reps lie about the wait time (e.g., one time, I was told the wait would be 1-2 hours and it was over 4). I kept giving Commonwealth more chances since I have been going there for so long, but this Saturday/today were the last straw. Took my car in on Saturday for a state inspection, an oil change, and the courtesy "multi point inspection. When I picked up my car, the tire pressure light immediately came on, and I thought that they probably set it off while doing work and decided that it was probably fine for now and I'd check the pressure the next day I drove my car less than 5 miles home, and when I woke up on Sunday morning, my right front tire was flat. I took my car back today to get fixed. 1) I was told by the customer service rep that it would take 1/2 hour - 1 hour. I waited TWO AND A HALF HOURS. 2) Apparently, my tire pressure sensor was broken. Unsure how this would happen in my less than mile drive home, so I asked the customer service rep if there was any way that Commonwealth could have broken it. He said "I really don't think so" and then called me "kiddo" and charged me $120 (after the $100 I paid on Saturday) to fix the tire pressure sensor I am sure that Commonwealth broke. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE treatment of a long-term customer, who you have just lost. My family and I will not be returning to Commonwealth, and I will be telling everyone that I know about their horrible service. read more

We've always serviced our Honda at this dealer. The staff is friendly and we like to know that we are getting genuine Honda parts for our Accord. The service is usually very fast and customer service people always explain us what job is needed to be done before charging us. Mike was the customer service rep who assisted us the last time we were there. He was very good at accomodating our requests and the job was done on time. Overall, very positive experience with this dealership. We will definetely come back there again and again. read more

We were very pleased with our experience at Commonwealth. We explained to Sean that we were in the deciding stage of what to buy and whether to purchase or lease. Sean recommended we work with Grant. Grant was extremely helpful and friendly. We felt no pressure to purchase a vehicle from him. He was very knowledgeable about the two brands we were interested in. We test drove three different cars and spent quite a few hours at the dealership discussing the options and Grant was patient and listened to our thought processes. He never rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable at all. After presenting our options, we told him we wanted to think about them overnight and we would get back to him in the morning. Grant gave us his personal cell number and told us to call him if we had any new questions for him. We went back the following morning and completed the transaction on Honda Pilot lease. The entire process was professional, respectful and in no way were there any high pressure tactics to buy a vehicle. We do recommend this dealership highly read more
