Masters of misogyny; absolute stereotype of a sleazy car dealership. I love my Honda & I wish I could say the same about this Honda dealer. Commonwealth Motors conducted business unprofessionally & blatantly disregarded their legal obligation to comply with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B, specifically). As a customer & as a consumer, I took the appropriate actions to report my concerns through the proper channels, & was systematically disempowered by Commonwealth Motors throughout one of the most important financial transactions in my credit history. Aside from sexual harassment & dubious intimidation tactics by Business Manager John Murray, Commonwealth Motors failed to handle my complaints on every level--from Mr. Murray, to the Sales manager Andre Willis (who called me at WORK to scream*** at me for answers on a corporate survey), to the owner's daughter, to the owner himself (who I've yet to hear from since I made the complaint on 1/24/15). Complaint was made upon picking up the vehicle to Mr. Willis & was told I would receive a personal call within a week--FALSE. Only automated mail/cookies, until I completed a corporate survey--after allowing 3 wks for resolution. When I finally left a voicemail for Mr. Daher (after Mr. Willis berrated me at WORK), he had his daughter call me back to say she was "sorry I didn't have the outcome I was looking for." I had to redirect her pitiful conflict resolution. I feel badly for all of Mr. Daher's daughters, who choose to work in a toxic "boys club" environment. Ms. C Daher said her father would contact me directly the following Monday--never happened and two months after purchase & complaint, I've gotten radio silence. I reported all of this to Honda corp. directly after Mr. Willis accused me of "ruining lives & careers" by completing this survey. I was told Honda will contact the dealer. That's it. I take serious issue with this practice. Honda benefits directly from this treacherous transaction, and continues to profit from the dealer through kick-backs & the financial gains from stocking the dealers, Honda is condoning gender-biased discrimination & harassment, & also rewarding Commonwealth Motors for its illegal practices. I have been a Honda owner for 10 years; my first opportunity to purchase a brand new Honda vehicle was tainted from start to finish. It is truly appalling to witness the wanton disregard of respect, financial integrity and consumer legal rights by a car brand & a car dealership. To take no action is to act in favor of misogyny and violations to consumer protections. If you are still inclined to shop this dealer, do not do so alone--they will deny & disregard ANYTHING other than positive reviews--& if you are honest and had a 'less than 5 stars' experience, they will come after you like thugs. They will whine & yell at you, without ever actually resolving the issue--then blame you for it apparently. I also did not get the 'outreach' email I was promised by Anthony Vancini until 2 months after sale--and only after all the complaints I made about my experience--unfortunate as he was relatively benign compared to his co-workers. Also be advised: no common courtesy here; they will not offer to take your coat, they will not offer you water/tea/coffee--and if you ask, they'll tell you to use a public drinking fountain around the corner. Even if you are elderly or disabled--which I witnessed directly during the 2 hours of silence--you will sit & wait for a pompous Mr. Murray to criticize/rush through your financial reports via any tactics he may employ, based upon your age and gender. Oh also--when you meet with this guy, he will show you all the lenders who may have considered your loan--play close attention because he's sharing Consumer Information--I viewed at least 3 other customer names & lenders pending on the screen, right next to my personal and PROTECTED information. The worst part of this--Mr. Daher was present in the dealership during this travesty--right outside the open door of Mr. Murray. The fact that Mr. Murray is so bold to act like this near the owner is frightening. This man accused me of doing drugs, & also asked if I was on the phone with "my boyfriend or sugar daddy"--illegal. I was on the phone with my Financial Advisor--none of which is his business. On top of it, he promised a lower interest rate/more time to pay IF I signed up for an 'extended warranty'--illegal--then sneakily moved my payment to 30 days (not 45) after I removed the frivolous warranty. If you go here, know your rights and have it in writing; do not meet with these guys unaccompanied.. I have sent this complaint to the BBB & the State Attorney General. I have also reported this dealer w documentation to Yelp for paying for positive reviews. Charlie will give you $10 for every positive survey up to $50, if you don't Mr. Willis will get NASTY with you. ZERO integrity. read more

My experience at Commonwealth Honda was amazing. I was absolutely floored by the experience at first and continue to be completely satisfied as I drive my Honda Insight every day. At first I was greeted by an mediocre sales rep, I believe his name was Engel? This man was about to let me walk out the door seeing as I had my heart set on the Honda Fit and they did not have what i was looking for in stock. I was then helped by the wonderful Gary K. His enthusiasm resonated with myself and my husband who were excitedly looking forward to leaving with a new Honda. Gary had asked what we ultimately wanted in our car and offered a test drive for a similar model, the Honda Insight, which succeed our requirements of good gas mileage and reliability. The entire pitch I never caught a whiff of that traditional sales man persona of a shady, money hungry, pressuring sales man. To be honest Gary seemed to genuinely care! As the test drive ensued, I began to love the car and love my experience. No question was too much for this guy, he was more than happy to engage in any request I made. As we spent a good couple hours reviewing our financing options and the logistics of the buy, myself and my husband spent that time with Gary who was just a pleasure to be around! Gary referred us to the Financing Manager John Murray who was awesome. Both very personable and friendly, the entire staff made me feel welcomed. As soon as John Murray lead us to his office he went straight to work for us. He kept us entertained as he went to battle. Although I had a good credit rating, my work, and my short line of credit made it difficult for John to complete the financing. Not a sweat for this guy! He worked immensely hard for me to walk out with this car and he got the job done with a smile on his face. I consider it a rarity for someone to do what this gentleman has done. In my eyes at least, he moved mountains for nothing in return but a smiling customer. The service was just simply amazing, no superb. I could not have asked for more from this team! I find it hard to put in words how much I appreciate these two gentleman and their efforts. I have and will continue to refer as many people as possible to your sterling place of business. Carmen Claudio I went to Commonwealth Motors after having been through many other dealer's that turned me down, as well as having been through a previous bad purchased experience with another dealer which was worthless, left me on a bind for years. Before I decided to go back to purchase a car I was worry given my past experience, as a women with limited car experience, feeling somewhat intimidated to go alone all does bad feelings faded the minute I set foot into Commonwealth Motors, Honda. I was greeted when I walked in I was introduce to my salesman named Gary Kotyla he immediately ask me what kind of cars I was interested in, and provided me with what was available in their inventory, he gather all my documents, made me and my ten year old son feel at ease, offered us something to drink, gave my son a snack and made him feel part of the process. Gary was very professional, understanding, knowledgeable, explained every detail, treated me with no pressure, he was down to earth, patient and upfront. The atmosphere was very pleasant I observe how every salesman worked with everyone; it was all about the costumer and making them happy. All the staff worked together specially the salesman and the financial department which is usually the most intimidating even that part of the process was timely, and satisfying. John Murray, Business manager explained in detail all the options, was immediately in contact with the bank I saw he was so invested in making my purchase possible and straightforward. He was diligent as well as friendly and companionate. My overall experience at Commonwealth Honda was the easiest, and painless experience I have ever experience in a car dealer. Even my ten year old son had a great experience; I said to him say your good byes to the old car. He responded this was not a good car; that other dealership was crappy! I just purchased a 2014 Honda CRV- EX this week and I am so pleased with my overall experience. I am 24 years old and this was my first time buying a new car. I had already visited several other dealerships trying to find a car that would best fit my needs but did not have great experiences at other dealerships. Not many of the sales reps I dealt with were as friendly as the staff I have interacted with at Commonwealth. My family and I are huge Toyota fans so I was skeptical buying a honda. John was recommended to me by my aunt and I am so glad we were put in touch!! He was an excellent sales rep and did his best to answer all of my questions and my parents questions. As soon as we arrived at the dealership, he had the car I was purchasing pulled out front and warmed up for me! He was very patient and made the purchasing process so easy and enjoyable. I absolutely LOVE my CRV and have been raving about how much I enjoyed working with commonwealth and how speedy the whole process was. Wilson Thompson, another sales rep helped to deliver the car to me. Even though he did not sell me the car, he still was very patient with me and made the whole process of learning about my car fun and easy. He went over the whole vehicle, inside and out with me. He was funny and just as excited as I was about my new car. Wilson was so passionate about the cars Honda sells and reflected in his work. I loved working with both John and Wilson and I would definitely refer family and friends to both of them and to Commonwealth. The dealership as a whole is an amazing company to do business with. The sales reps and service department are all really friendly and willing to take the time to answer any questions you may have. Disclaimer: Commonwealth Honda offered me $10 per good review posted about my buying experience - not the most honorable tactic. However, I had such a positive experience otherwise with them, I am posting this for free. I spent several months shopping for a Honda Odyssey online. I would negotiate a price and a color with a dealer, only to arrive at the dealership to find that no such car existed and no one seemed to know who was doing the internet negotiating, but hey, since I'm here, why not consider buying a different color at a much higher price. It happened many times - Boch Honda of Norwood and Herb Chambers of Burlington - both tried the old bait and switch. In the end, I figured that the problem was that they simply did not have the color I wanted on the lot, so they would have to trade another dealer for it, which would cut into their profit, so they weren't willing to do it at the price they promised. Frustrated, I looked through online inventories and found the color at Commonwealth Honda. So I went there, expecting another frustrating experience. I was pleasantly surprised to finally find a straight forward transaction. They met the price that Burlington Honda had dangled in front of me, and they were very pleasant to deal with. It was completely straight forward and painless. A week later they sent me a nice card and a tin of cookies. Classy! This was a couple of years ago and they still call me on my birthday and sing Happy Birthday to my voice mail. I had a very positive buying experience with them and it was in such contrast to all the other greater Boston dealers (who were to a dealer awful to deal with - I almost went to Toyota - why are their dealers so much better ?!). I bought my car from Commonwealth Honda 3 years ago, and didn't have the best experience. I did give them my honest review at that time, and then never really heard from them until this year, on my 3 year anniversary. Chris called me and wanted to know how they could repair the customer/business relationship. I was surprised, considering it had been 3 years, that they were looking to make up for my experience. I was having a problem with the alarm and remote starter they installed and there was a possible parasitic drain causing my batteries to die very quickly. I asked Chris if he would fix those items, free of charge, even though my car was out of warranty. He spoke to a few people and then had me come in the next day and they did just that. Chris spent 20 minutes or so talking to me about my experience and apologizing for the experience, and kept me up to date on the progress of the repair. It was an extremely pleasant experience and I am so glad they called me and extended an olive branch. I actually ended up becoming a customer again as I needed an oil change and tire rotation, so I had them do it for a very reasonable price. The morale of my story is that even though I didn't have a positive experience at first, they rectified the situation. They care about retaining business and getting referrals, not just getting your businesses once and then saying goodbye. I recently had an unfortunate experience with Commonwealth Honda that left me quite dissatisfied. I purchased an extended warranty from them, based on the salesperson's repeated claims that it covered 6 years. However, when I reviewed the paperwork later, I discovered that the warranty was actually only for 3 years. This inconsistency immediately raised concerns about their transparency and honesty. To clarify the situation, I attempted to contact them multiple times to inquire about the actual expiration date of my warranty. Unfortunately, my calls were met with silence as nobody bothered to return my messages. This lack of responsiveness was truly disappointing and made me question their commitment to customer service. The frustration didn't end there. When I finally managed to schedule a repair under the assumption that my warranty was still valid, I was shocked to learn from the service department that my warranty had already expired. This not only wasted my time but also highlighted the extent of misinformation that seems to be prevalent within the dealership. Overall, my experience at Commonwealth Honda was marred by misleading information, unreturned calls, and a lack of accountability. I would caution anyone considering doing business with them to carefully scrutinize any agreements and documents provided. Transparency and clear communication are essential in the automotive industry, and unfortunately, those qualities were sorely lacking in my dealings with this dealership. Commonwealth Motor's slogan, "Shop Us Last---You'll Love Us" is true. I shopped other Honda dealerships and found that Commonwealth had the best prices. When all the costs were tallied I found that I could buy an optional remote car starter and still beat the lowest price from the other dealerships that I visited. Steve Palermo, the sales representative, has a friendly attitude and a professional manner and I had a most pleasant and very informative car buying experience. He ensured that I understood everything about the process and was most informative about the car, explaining all the options and features, and showing me how to operate and locate what I wanted in the extensive technology features. Product knowledge is a requirement if you are selling something and Steve has his finger on Honda's pulse. Karen Pelletier, Commonwealth's Business Manager, was most helpful and knowledgeable. She went over all of the options thoroughly and in a friendly and professional manner and gave me all my options. Malcolm Price, Commonwealth's Sales Manager, was also very helpful and informative in helping me to choose options for my Accord. This whole process took only an hour with no delays or hassle. I am very happy and satisfied with my decision at Commonwealth Honda and fortunate to have found such great people to have helped me have a stress free experience. Extremely unprofessional. Wouldn't give a straight answer in terms of cost, and a TOTAL bait and switch. I've leased 3 cars for my son through them, and they advertise a loyalty program but not one he "qualified for" - how else do you qualify for LOYALTY other than giving them your business? ZERO incentive to give them repeatable business, especially with the attitude their sales reps and service teams give. Just went with another dealership less than 20 minutes away that I visited a week before going in here, and I'm glad I "Shopped them last". It's their slogan because it should literally be the last place you look, to remind you that your other offers and service received were much better.... and you're making the right choice NOT going with them. Also it's important to remember that they pride themselves on being a family run business... Well I guess if 1 of them is rude, than they all are. Apple doesn't fall far. I've given Commonwealth Honda an excellent review because of their quality work and outstanding customer service. Without making a prior appointment, I arrived at their service center on 09Apr18 to get a basic oil change. Anthony LaParre greeted me immediately and asked about the reason for my visit. I knew that I needed two new tires, but I only mentioned the oil change since I hadn't called ahead for this appointment. Anthony looked up my service record and walked around my car for the usual pre-work inspection. Upon his return, he recommended that I also get two new tires since my inspection sticker was up for renewal next month, and I wouldn't pass based on the current tread height. I really appreciated that he was thinking ahead to ensure my inspection passed. He quickly drafted up the paperwork, reviewed it with me so that I fully understood the work being performed, and escorted me to the business center where I could work quietly while waiting for my car. The service was completed on time, and Anthony promptly came to the waiting area to inform me that everything looked good. He also offered me a 10% discount on the tires. I fully recommend the service center at Commonwealth Honda for all your vehicle maintenance. read more

I recently purchased a 2013 Honda Civic at Commonwealth Motors in Lawrence. I was greeted by Steve Palermo who was extremely informative about the car's features and provided me with a NO-pressure approach to my initial car buying foray. At the time, I let Mr. Palermo know I was comparing the Toyota Corolla with the Civic and was not ready to purchase at that time. He highlighted the differences in the features between the two vehicles and offered me a test drive, of which I was much obliged. After driving the Civic, I let Steve know I would be doing the same with the Corolla. About a week later, Steve followed up with me and was quite agreeable to my request for my wife to take ride in the car. He was patient with us, never pushy, and always gracious in answering our numerous questions. When it came to price, he was fair, open-minded , and provided the environment for respectful negotiations. This was my first time at Commonwealth Motors. I can honestly say I was treated with respect by Mr. Palermo, along with his manger and the financing representative. They seemed genuinely happy to make me happy about this car buying experience. On Sunday, December 1st my husband & I were in an accident. We were returning from Church and hit a small piece of black ice. Though we were only going 15miles an hour we hit an embankment totaling our car and causing multiple injuries to myself. This day was frightening and overwhelming to say the least. We then had to make the decision to either lease or purchase a car. We had done business with Commonwealth in 2011 and were very happy so off we went on December 8th to see if history would repeat itself. We had the pleasure of meeting Ainsley Brown who made all our decisions easy. We chose to lease a 2014 CR-V EX-L. He made sure everything we needed both financially and on our wish list were filled. Tonight we picked up our new car and Ainsley yet again made us feel like royalty. He called our home to let us know our chariot was waiting for us. We were so excited to arrive and upon walking in we were greeted with his warm smile and gently demeanor. We know people are always eager to complain but slow to praise. Excellent service department. My daughter had recently moved to the greater Boston area and had not yet had time to look for a trustworthy Honda service center. She recently had warning light show up on her dash or her CRV. I spoke with Sergay in the Commonwealth Honda service department, he was very helpful and polite and was able to answer all my questions. He told me the blinking D on the dash was most likely a tranny sensor that needed to be replaced and he gave me a estimate. He was able to schedule an appointment that same day. When my daughter dropped the CRV off she said they were all very nice. And their shuttle was able to bring her to her job. Later that day Sergay called to confirm the problem was the sensor and that the cost would be exactly as he said. We dropped the CRV off at 9 and it was all fixed by 1pm. I do not know anything about the Commonwealtn sales dept, but I highly recommend their service dept. How refreshing it is to find auto service with a smile and not feel like they are trying to push parts or un-needed repairs on you. Over the 4 week period I spent researching and ultimately purchasing a vehicle, I interacted with no fewer than 6 dealerships. I found Keith Audy (saleman) to be friendly, responsive, timely, open and honest, and genuinely concerned with my experience purchasing a vehicle. I had particular requirements for vehicle features, price was critical to my decision, and a need for customization of my vehicle --- all of which were handled to my highest satisfaction. This would not have happened without the participation of Keith Audy -- if you go to this dealer, please ask for Keith Audy!!!! As to my "5" ratings above - customer service in customizing my vehicle (replacing cloth interior with leather including adding heated seats) was flawless. The workmanship of the leather looks like it came straight from the factory! Keith Audy exemplified friendliness and drove my overall experience to the top! The dealership on two occasions provided me alternative/lower pricing (to beat a sister dealer) for my business...They were able to backup their words, that "they'll beat anyones price.".... I truly wasn't going to buy a car that day. I was just going to look after I had done some research the day before. I owned a 10 yr. old nissan that was a great car to me for as long as I had it. My decision to purchase a new vehicle was solely based on the winter we had the previous yr. When I first purchased my nissan at a honda dealership I really wanted a honda, but realized it wouldn't be possible financially at that time. At commonwealth the sales man Luis was really nice, helpful and fast. He asked the right questions and gave me the answers that were already in my heart. This purchase was a big deal for me and im happy luis was my sales man. I am now a proud owner of a honda crv and I am happy everyday I drive it...thanks luis. I am already looking forward to purchasing from this dealer in the future. Oh and they got me financed which was a concern for me, but they made it happen and I can start rebuilding my credit...which will be even more important the next time I visit to make a purchase. I had been driving a pretty old car and knew that it was going to die on me pretty soon. My friend suggested that I look at Commonwealth Motors and the next day another friend emailed a copy of their advertised specials. I took it as a sign, and drove there the next night to test drive a Honda Civic. I was thoroughly surprised to be greeted before even stepping inside. The staff in general were extremely helpful and friendly. It was a pleasure to work with Enyel. This was the first new car purchase I have ever made and my anxiety level was through the roof. He was friendly and joked around which helped me calm down and actually enjoy the car buying process. John Murray was also another pleasure to work with. Together both Enyel and John worked hard to make sure I got to drive my car off the lot in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend Commonwealth Motors, Enyel and John Murray to anyone looking to purchase a car. We had a great experience at Commonwealth Honda. We bought a 2014 Civic-ex after a test drive that showed us what a wonderful car it was. We had been emailing back and forth for about a month regarding pricing after doing some research on various internet sites, which all gave us ideas of what we could expect to pay when we got there. SURPRISE SURPRISE we payed less by a long shot. We first went to the Nissan dealership to drive a Sentra and told the salesman ( Joel Ruiz ) we also wanted to try a Civic because we had been conversing over the internet with Paula Masttuci and Jim Volpe of Commonwealths' online department. Joel brought us over to the Honda store and helped us thru the test drive and sale of the Civic we bought. Once we mentioned that Jim Volpe had given us a price over the internet that price was honored immediately. A price that was far below what we thought we would be faced with. Nothing but the highest praise for the staff at Commonwealth Honda. The owner ( Charlie Daher ) has a great team. Give them a try when you are in the market. We are glad we did. read more

Aside from being quite possibly the happiest person I've ever met, he was attentive, knowledgable, and took the time to explain all of my options and worked to find the best fit for me. I originally went to Commonwealth to look at a Certified Used car, but when I was still uncertain about committing to the purchase, Wilson took the time to explain a lease option to me, and why it would be a better fit. He was straightforward, and I am confident he worked on my behalf to get me the best deal possible. The best part was there was no pressure- it literally took me 3 weeks to make a decision- and all of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The showroom was clean and organized, and Wilson even took the time to give me a tour of their service facilities and rates.
