I haven't been down this way for coffee, so today was a first! Parking was not bad at all, there are street parking spots (pay attention to time limits) and spaces in front/behind Common Grounds (I have included a picture of the parking map). When we reached the front door, another customer stood up to hold the door for me since I had the stroller. That was so kind! The barista was also helpful, all I had to do was mention what flavor I had a hankering for and she recommended what I should try. I wanted something with a little cinnamon, so I went with the Charlie Brown Mocha. I ordered it iced, half caf with oatmilk. It was delicious! This coffee shop is perfect for relaxing, working on your laptop, or meeting with a friend. There is no loud music playing which is refreshing, you can actually hear your conversation. Thank you, Common Grounds for a wonderful visit!

Really surprised at how large this coffee shop is for being right near the TCU Campus. It also has a large stage for performances as well as a couple of private rooms upstairs for meetings. The place is so spread out, that it's really just most conducive for studying - which I guess is the point, considering the location. The offer 6 seasonal drinks for the holidays, and as much as I would have liked to order the "Flaming Idiot", vanilla and cinnamon just isn't my thing. So, I ordered the "S'mores Latte" which was pretty good. I didn't get much of a toasted marshmallow flavor, but I enjoy mocha, and it had a good flavor. Parking is challenging, and many spots nearby are limited to 1 hour, but it is definitely the type of place I would have enjoyed as a college student.

Great place near TCU the coffee is great and since it's near a university you know it's prime for getting work done. There's couches tables and even a second floor. Not only is it good for coffee but it looks like it doubles as a kick ass venue for concerts as well. There's a nice size stage for any performer to show out and the front is lined with garage doors that I'm sure are wide open on nice days and of course game day when the frogs are playing. As young as I think and feel I am I do see the crowd is mostly young college students. I felt like the oldest person there.

    OK, that's clever.

Second stop for coffee in a day. Another place with voting tip jars. This poll was about Christmas music. Love or Hate? I don't love it, but I don't hate it, so I voted Love (with a dollar). I only had a coffee here, but I liked the place. My initial review was only 4 stars, "Good", but after I thought about that tip jar, well both tip jars, I added a star. I like that voting idea. Nice, large, open area. There's a stage and sometimes live music. I can see this as a popular place to hang. The two employees were very nice, and welcoming. When an order starts out like that, it's a good sign. Happy employees and all that. Bottom line: I used to live a bit east of TCU, and I can't get over how much the area has changed.

Common Grounds is huge with plenty of places to sit, parking however is limited to street parking or parking in a small shopping complex across the street. The interior of the store is beautiful, warm and inviting. I came here for a Yelp event and ordered the iced flaming idiot. They certainly had some interesting names for their seasonal menu. The flaming idiot was a vanilla latte with cinnamon in it. The drink came out quickly and was subtly sweet. The baristas were attentive and quick with the order. I would stop by here again if I was in the area.

Mocha mint madness gets a rating of 2 stars. Honestly, it may just be the associate who made it. I took one slip and thought ok this is decent, but nothing great. Customer service was good, and I enjoyed the overall establishment. Plus the shop has a stage for performances. I was shocked to see only one pastry left near a college campus. The manager did mention when they sell out that's it. I noticed time on coffee cups don't align with the actual time your in shop. The place is very welcoming, clean, and the seating area is very spacious. I think it's a great place for a quick cup of coffee. Just make sure you know what you like and beverage is prepared the way you prefer.

A mentor and I would meet here on a weekly basis. Their were many good discussions with times of brutal honesty and truth along with a lot of accountability. Unfortunately he passed away about a month ago. Since I could not attend his Celebration of Life memorial service, I figured a tribute of my own would be in order. As I entered Common Grounds, I could feel the solemn void created from his missing friendship. The ladies behind the counter remembered my friend and were saddened by the loss. Sitting across from the chair ordinarily occupied by Pat, I began to reminisce about how we met, the times of fellowship spent together, and the positive impact he made on my life. With each sip of coffee, I toast to a life well lived and pray God's blessings on those left behind, including myself. Please make a toast in his memory.

Overall a great experience! Came in for Yelp elite event during December, and wish I could have stuck around longer! Large and open space with lots of room to study or hangout. Vast menu and reasonably priced. I got a s'mores latte and it was pretty good! Not sickly sweet but also not super smooth. Service was great and helpful. I would come back to hangout and try other drinks for sure!

Common Grounds. I have to admit I was not impressed at by the overall experience. The location is a neat location, next to a GREAT smelling BBQ joint. Next to TCU it's a college town coffee establishment, and its origins also reflect that as it was established in Waco pretty much on the Baylor campus, so I'm told. Tho there aren't any Baylor regalia in the establishment, it carries that college town vibe. This location is extremely large. Has a large sitting area, an area that can accommodate a live band, however the barista mentioned that hasn't happened in a long time. They do hold church services here on Sunday, so there is a church band that plays, thus they are closed on Sundays. There was some light music playing in the background, mostly unnoticeable. It's another industrial coffee shop. Concrete with exposed beams, ductwork, and lighting. An added tough was the large glass garage doors that open up when so desired. They weren't open today, it was quit cold. The barista was friendly enough, tho he was by himself, he admitted such. We asked a few questions but he was busy making coffee for others. The coffee beans come from a Waco roaster, they don't roast them in house. They do have a "special sauce" for certain coffees, bottle by another business. It's' basically sweetened cold coffee base on the ingredients. The coffee we sampled was the Flaming idiot, a vanilla latte with cinnamon. It was a little bland for our tastes really. Vanilla was a bit weak. Could taste the cinnamon but it wasn't very strong. There was zero coffee flavor to it. Not one I'd get again, as I like to taste the coffee. Not sweet at all as we had less syrup added, even with that we couldn't sample the coffee in the coffee drink.

Absolutely loved this coffee shop! It's so big and spacious! There's lots of seating and outlets. The decor for Christmas made the place even more homey, so it was a nice change of pace for studying. I got the peppermint matcha which was delicious. Definitely sweet enough with the perfect hint of mint. I believe it is seasonal though, so get it while you can.

Long review incoming! My first stop in here was honestly quite impressive. Walking in the door I was taken aback at the sheer size of Common Grounds. They have a massive open concept with tons of tables - I should have counted them. This is the perfect location next to a college. At the moment, we are approaching finals for students. I didn't do an actual head count, but I would bet there were 30-40 people sitting at different tables. Some in groups and some working solo. Even with that amount of people the noise level still did not reach annoying volumes in my opinion. The front of the building on one side are glass "garage doors" that roll up during nice weather. Actually, when I stopped in yesterday it was an amazing 70ish° and the doors could have been open to let that lovely weather in. Speaking with the two baristas they said when the weather is great there are normally tables out on the sidewalk. It tickles me to try new coffees! Gave the two baristas full creative/artistic control in my drink selection! One looked panicked at the pressure. Maybe she felt it was a trap and that a moment like this had burned her before. I took zero offense. The other asked me some standard questions and was up for the challenge. Even looked excited about it! My only stipulation was, I had to know what it was in order to be able to enjoy it a second time. Hot? Sure Cold? Sure Sweet? Sure Strong? Sure Allergies? Nope Oat milk? Sure Cinnamon? Oh! ABSOLUTELY! I promised her as long as my coffee wasn't spicy that I would be a happy camper! Got an iced Snickerdoodle oatmilk latte. Man! It hit the spot!!! Cinnamon is a personal favorite when paired up with coffee! It was like she was a mind reader! It was a very delicious choice! Next time I would throw in an extra shot. Common Grounds has a cute merch section setup near the register with shirts, mugs, coffee, travel mugs and stickers. Highly recommend stopping in!!! I went later in the day (right at 4pm) and all the food was gone. Always a good sign that tasty food disappears! Going to have to make it in earlier next time. The only cons I could see where that directly in front of the business is street/parallel parking with a small lot across the street and no conference or study rooms were available. I did not notice any additional parking and again there are tons of tables. If you need a quiet, secluded spot this might not be the place for you. Neither of my "cons" would stop me from going back!!! HUGE list of positives for me at Common Grounds. When checking out I noticed the business also accepts CashApp. Big deal for many these days!

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area?

Hi Haley! Dogs are not allowed on the patio since it's still technically considered an inside space.

Do you serve any food items - sweet or savory?

We serve pastries! Mostly sweet and a few savory options like croissants and kolaches.

We got dropped off in the parking lot by our Lyft about 30 minutes before the gates opened and had a short walk to where a pretty substantial line had already formed. We headed to the beer tents and spent the next couple of hours doing tastings before the music started.
