Action Wildlife Foundation - Animal artwork on outside wall

This spot is wild!…read more We FINALLY took a trip to Action Wildlife today and it was ABSOLUTELY worth the drive. There are multiple spaces to explore when you come in. First, YES you want the big feed pail. Lots of animals. When you first drive in you come upon the museum, gift shop, and play area. They still had their corn pit set up in the play area and that was a big hit with our little one. What you see out in front of you to access is the walking/driving section. You can choose to take this walk or park your car as you visit the animal areas. It goes all the way from the small capybara enclosure to highland cows and so many in between! If you drive straight back you will get to the big green barn near the blue silos. That bar is the petting barn and where you will do encounters. We did the baby highland cow encounter and got to spend a half hour with Hank. Feeding, brushing, petting, and just enjoying his company. We brought in our 1 year old and she loved it! As you leave that barn there is another play area to the left and if you follow it past the camels you'll see the sign for hayride and drive through safari. You can go right down that small road and it'll lead you to a drive around where you're supposed to stay in the car and drive on the enclosure to see a bunch of animals. We didn't do the hayride but it's back there. It loops all the way back, so no worries about figuring out how to get back. We felt that this was BEYOND worth our time and loved all of the up close interactions. Will be returning!

We did not stop everywhere and we did not stop at the Petting zoo or museum/ gift shop and we were there 1.5 hours. You just have to drive really slow since some families let their young child walk around away from them! We will return !!

I'm not sure why there are three Yelp pages for Action Wildlife Foundation, but I decided to write…read moremy review on this one because it had the most recent reviews. I also saw that one of the other pages only had three stars, and I know that cannot be possible, because Action Wildlife Foundation in Goshen is simply amazing! If you're an animal lover you definitely need to check this place out! Here's how it works... After entering the driveway, you drive up to the gate and will pay the entrance fee. It's $18 for adults and $16 for kids. Additionally, you can buy a good-sized container of animal food for $8 per container. You'll also get a map of the place to help find your way around. Once you're in the park, there will be a large building right in front of you which is where the "Museum of Natural History" is. The entire inside is set up like a giant diorama, with real taxidermy animals of all kinds placed in real-life poses. It's so cool to see! This building also contains the gift shop in back and restrooms. After the museum, you can either walk or drive around the grounds (using the gravel road) to see and visit with all of the different animals that they have in the various pens. You'll get to see kangaroos, goats, horses, cows, capybaras, camels, zebras, emus, and much much more! Most of the animals you can feed, though there are a few (like the kangaroos and some of the horses) that you cannot. I would recommend driving around the grounds and then stopping and getting out once you get to the animals that you want to see. There is grass on either side of the gravel road where you can easily pull over and not be blocking anyone. On weekends, they also have a tractor ride "safari" in a different area of the park, where you get to ride through a very large fenced in area where there are several specifies of animals roaming altogether, so you can see the animals in a more natural setting. Lastly, they have a petting zoo in one of the barns with food that you can buy using quarters. The petting zoo has mostly goats, and then a few other animals like alpacas and cows. Oh, and you can also book personal "encounters" with some of the animals like the goats and capybaras, where you reserve a time slot for some one-on-one time with these animals. Though you need to do this in advance online, and it's an additional cost. The best part about Action Wildlife Foundation? They are dedicated to animal conservation, and most of the animals there have either been rescued or donated. This is one of the coolest placed in CT I've ever been to, and I would highly recommend it!

The entrance fee is $12 per person (cash only) and animal food is available for purchase ($1 per cup). Once you go inside, the large fenced-in area, you'll find smaller pens, each with different animals inside. Some of the animals you'll find here are rabbits, deer, pygmy goats, kangaroos, a miniature horse, zebra, camel, emus, capybara, peacocks, and several others. Some of these animals you can feed/pet (deer, goats, horse) while others you can only look at (emus, camel, zebra, kangaroos). There are signs that tell you which animals are safe to feed/pet and which are not. The goats are actually free-roaming and so you can sit on the ground or a bench and pet/feed them, play with them, etc. There is also a picnic area where you can sit and eat lunch, etc. No public restrooms on the property, but there is one porta-potty. Overall this is a really cool spot to bond with some really cute animals, and a great place to bring the kids!

The kids had fun feeding the farm animals. I will have to admit I had fun too. There are all sorts of farm animals, such as chickens, cats, dogs, goats, horses, bunnies, pigs and more. First visit, I got there around 4:40 and they were closing at 5; it was a short trip because I just wanted to get some eggs. The employee said they were closing soon and so was the petting zoo when I first walked in; I mentioned I was going to be quick and just wanted to get some eggs. I didn't know they had a petting zoo so I made a plan to go back again another time. The store was your typical farm stand, they had eggs, honey, cookies, apparel, and various of other knick knacks. They were having a sale, buy one dozens eggs ($7) and get one dozen free. The chickens were laying too many eggs and they wanted to get rid of as many as possible. The second time, I got in earlier in the day and purchased petting zoo tickets; $8 per person over 2 years old/under 80 years old and for an additional $2, you can purchase feed. I highly recommend getting the feed, the animals loved it. The petting zoo was bigger than I thought. There's even a playground with benches and picnic tables. The place seemed clean and the animals seem well taken care of. We saw pigs, llamas (my favorite), sheep, goats, alpacas, peacocks, cows, ponies (another favorite), donkeys, bunnies, chickens, and a black cat.Inside the shop, there were baby chicks, birds, and guinea pigs. There were signs explaining what type of animals, facts, and their story/names throughout. They also offer pony and tractor rides for an additional fee. There's a huge pavilion with picnic tables; you can bring your own food in. Also, there is an Airbnb onsite and people book their weddings there. There are many events hosted there as well; children programs and summer camps are popular ones. My kids and I had a blast petting and feeding the animals. I highly recommend!
