Okay, it is a bit of a trek to reach, and it is also effectively in the middle of nowhere (though I am sure if you are determined enough you could walk, or at least ride a bike), but for me at least, it was certainly worth it. Okay, the pub itself is your typical country pub, and you can be assured that the publican knows everybody who walks in through the door on a first name basis (except for people like me who trek up from the city just to have a beer). They have a pretty nice beer garden, however it is one of those beer gardens that it basically a converted backyard, complete with two yappy dogs that want to play with you while you are having a beer. This pub certainly has a character of its own, and I know I would be very tempted to stop by here again if I am ever in the area.

The prices were that of a typical pub ($18.50 for a chicken schnitzel, et cetera) and the food was absolutely fantastic. My partner and I both had chicken parmigianas with chips and well, I got vegetables instead of salad and he got salad. My only thing is that it is kinda short-staffed, but honestly, the food was that good, I didn't even really care. I'd go here again, and I'd bring my family too. In part it felt like an inner-city pub, yet it still retained that rural feeling about it, probably because there was a building out the back called 'The Barn' that happened to be a function room (and there was also a barbecue under the shelter). Okay, it still seemed to be a place where the locals would sit at the bar chatting with the bartender, but I didn't let that get to me, especially with the lounge area sporting some rather interesting artwork.

However, while I generally let a grumpy bartender have his bad day (we all have one), I generally do get a little put off people who get defensive after the get your order mixed up (as well as spending time doing other things on a quiet day despite standing at the bar for five minutes waiting to be served). There are quite often events or live music of some kind on weekends. The bar area is fairly small but it's cozy and fun. The outside area is big and great for events etc. We had boo's christening after party in the outside area. They set up big tables for us and we filled the area. While they are happy to change items on the menu to fit it would be great if they could work on adding more items to the menu that are vegetarian. Food and drink are reasonable priced. Some of my friends did complain that service was a bit grumpy and rude (but probably the large amount of people we had in our party contributed to that) which was a bit embarrassing for us as we had gone on about how friendly they are. One of the guys that is no doubt a regular pointing at the sign hanging on the pub at the bottom of which is a phone number. He actually called that phone number once and discovered that somebody actually answered it, and not just anybody, the person who originally painted the sign. Okay, I don't go around randomly dialling phone numbers (or at least I don't any more) but it was still quite amusing. I have to say that it wasn't the best place to have a meal, especially since the table that we sat at had yet to be cleaned (though they were quite busy). While this place is mostly a restaurant, they do have pokies out the back which does work to detract form the fact that it is a family styled restaurant. As for the food, there were no complaints from my brother (but then again he never complains) however despite requesting that my steak be cooked well done, I still discovered some pink in the middle.
