Well, I did receive my class A license and I'm proud of that, but there are a few things that bothered me: there are a few driving instructors that shouldn't be teaching there. There is a short, troll looking, chain smoking, rude douchebag that gives driving lessons there and I question his integrity. I question his integrity because I think he purposely tries to confuse students with the hope that they will fail their road tests. On the day of the road test, they assign this yellow toothed, chain smoking troll to give me and 2 other students a brush up. The brush up is when you go over all the road test procedures before the big test with the DOT examiner. We were going over the parallel parking with the big semi. My parallel park of the semi was nearly perfect, but this douche kept screaming, "what are you doing, you're doing it wrong!" I was totally confused and so was the other students as we were all pretty proficient at it. The other 2 students were whispering to each other that this troll was trying to get them to flunk, maybe with the hope that if they fail, they would pump more money into the school for more lessons. It's not far fetched to believe that - after all, they're a business and their first goal is to make money, and in far second, to get students to pass the cdl road test. Well, later that day, when I took my road test and came the time to parallel park the big rig, I did it "great" and "excellent" according to the road test examiner. So I know that this douchebag, chain smoking troll was full of it.
There is another instructor there with a long, gray, nasty, greasy looking rat tail, who likes smoking in the trucks, (they all smoke, lol) and I being slightly asthmatic, felt like telling him to put his nasty cigarette out because we were in the truck and that's just not right to impose your cancer causing chemicals on your students. This douchebag (who thinks he's so cool) flicks his ciggie out the window (very classy, moron) and the ashes hit me in the eyeball. What a schmuck! I mean, the guy looked like he crawled out of a dumpster. Keep breathing in that exhaust and sucking on those cigarettes, loser. I would say that 90% of the instructors and secretaries there smoke and the place smells like an ashtray - disgusting!
Even after I passed my road test, I was still interested in taking lessons (even after all the bs) on the 10 speed, double clutch and then take lessons on the school bus. I didn't even care that this was costing me an arm and a leg... lol.. I just wanted to get really good at driving all the trucks and then learn to drive the bus. But the last straw was when I was waiting for my lesson to practice on the 10 speed (instructors always 5 minutes late for the students' lessons) and they pair me with this old, slow, crotchety, crabapple instructor who practically took 10 minutes to get in the damn truck and basically fell asleep during my lesson and I was wondering why he was even teaching! The guy looked half dead and I was wondering why he wasn't home fishing or something along those lines. Boggles the mind. One last thing - the old spanish secretary was kind of rude too. I know she's trying real hard to be a feisty latina, but who really wants to hear "I'll cut you" to the students? Not me. Don't get me wrong, there are decent instructors at this school, but it seems I never got to work with them and the crappy, uninterested ones far outnumber the good ones. So I'll take my money (even if I have to pay more) and business to another school. There are other schools out there. You suck, CDT.. Thanks for the rant..
Just want to add a few more thoughts: If anyone is thinking of signing up for the 304 hour career course - (which costs over $6000) don't do it. Out of the 304 hours, you drive the trucks barely 30 hours and that's a overestimate. On top of the barely 30 hours driving out of the 304 hours, you get stuck with 3 or 4 other students - which can be VERY DISTRACTING. So if you're paying out of pocket with your own money and you learn better one on one, paying for individual lessons might be your best bet! Just think of how many individual lessons $6000 can buy you! You'll be an expert driving the big trucks. Sorry CDT, just keeping it real. read more
