I was out here in Elko Nevada for work and I was pleased to see that there was a Gold Dust West Casino out here along with the Grille restaurant. I heard the food was pretty good here and a decent deal. I go in with one co worker whose driving me around Elko. It's not really too smokey in here, so that's a good thing, but it's not a crowded Saturday night either with all kinds of drinking and smoking at the slots going on. We get seated at a nice table and I go over the menu. They have a prime rib special here for $17.99 and it's available everyday from 11 am! Most of these casino restaurants that have prime rib, only have that on Fri and Sat after like 4 pm. I passed this time, but what I did see was the Chicken Fried Steak! It's supposed to be a 10 oz. beef patty, breaded and deep fried served with country gravy, hashbrowns and toast, and then even THREE eggs, for just $13, that's a deal. In the Bay Area where I was just working, they don't even serve Chicken Fried Steak ..... it's like truck driver food I guess. My friend had this Cali Omelet ... yeah it was sort of breakfast time for us. That was the more healthy option with veggies and no meat, just the opposite of what I ordered! The food came out in short time and look fab! I ordered my Chicken Fried Steak on a separate plat with gravy on the side, so I didn't get gravy all mushed up with my eggs and potatoes. Holy moly, that was a lot of food! Super tasty, I just ate half and took the rest to go, gave it to my friend since I flying back out soon and I don't think the airline would appreciate me bring Chicken fried steak on the plane to eat! The omelet looked better than I thought it was gonna for the price. Tons of avocado on top and fluffy hashbrowns! 5 stars for the food here! I didn't do any gambling ... I know better!

We arrived early in the evening and the gal that checked us in was not super friendly and did not explain anything about our accommodations (Wi-Fi, Breakfast, etc.). We dropped our stuff & dog into our room and went to dinner. Later that night we got back and our tv remote would not work and we could only get Cinemax. And the bed was nothing but springs. My husband went downstairs to talk to the gal, and I went to get ice. The gal at the front desk said she could move us but did not have any pet rooms available. So, no help. Meanwhile the ice machine was broken and had a note that said to go to the restaurant to get ice. A server was counting at the register and asked me to wait, not an issue. However, that was the only thing she said and seemed put out when she took the ice bucket and brought it back. We went to bar and the bartender came off as rude. We decided that night that we would cancel our reservations for the next night and go somewhere else. In the morning, my husband talked to the Assistant General Manager - Steven W. and he went above and beyond. Our stay the following evening with my sister and her husband was delightful. We both had nice, remodeled rooms and the staff we encountered all seemed to be having a better day. I know the hospitality business can be brutal to work in, but great leadership always shows. This is a BIG shoutout to Steven W., because of you we will be back.

That spoke volumes. My room, was perfect, exactly what I'm used to with this place. Didn't eat at Aspen this time, just some gambling and cocktails. We started off in the back bar, and I can't remember the nice lady's name, but she was on point. WE gambled and drank a bit, then went and gambled a little bit more, and actually won all of our money back, so we decided to sit in the front bar and just pay for drinks so I didn't give the house back the money hahaha Char (pronounced like 'Cher', not Char-Broil hahaha) was our bartender in the front bar. She actually helped us on the floor also before we sat to drink. It was the day after christmas, and their staff was run wire thin, they were covering the floor and bartending, busting their butts. I've never had an issue with service here, ever. It was cold outside, even snowed overnight. Not a single issue with the AC, despite others complaints. Thank you guys again, for honoring your promise from years past. I'm completely satisfied once again, and now I know the calibers back on point, this once again, will be my go-to, and with my new fancy updated players club card! Though the price point initially set me back on my heels, he won me over with his promise of breakfast, dinners (this week special for Cowboy Poetry Gathering), and a functioning Jacuzzi. (What can I say? It's a long drive out here!) Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by James and another staff member who gave me the rundown. I asked if I could bring my own food down for breakfast "since I have food issues" and James walked me over to the breakfast nook to show off the GLUTEN-FREE and DAIRY-FREE options that are there on the regular, from rolls and muffins to soymilk within arm's reach. In my room, I found a kitchenette complete with clean, cool fridge/freezer, a sink, microwave, dishwasher, dishware and utensils and enough pots and pans to cook on the two burner built-in hotplate/electric stove top. There were two clean, nicely made beds, a clean bathroom, table large enough for four people, and two easy chairs, and more. SOLD! Yes, pricier than others. Yes, in Elko you get what you pay for.

All three of them were super friendly. My suggestion is they get thermostats that linked to a central control so the ac can be turned on from the front desk. TV and coffee machine works. Our room was extremely clean with a microwave, refrigerator, a table for two should you get take out to bring back. The shower head was great, I have long hair so that's important to me. The parking lot was small but it probably holds most patrons each night. Walking distance to many restaurants. They offer coffee in the office with a small continental breakfast options. Considering what chain hotels charge these days, ridiculous, this was a comfortable option.

When we checked in they dropped that it was $70 per dog which is wildly high (most hotels are $25-$50/ea) so I really wasn't pleased about that.
